Time for breakfast. Unfortunaltey, the food was bland, little choice, instant coffee, 1 flavor of juice.....not what I am looking forward to on a holiday. The cat was neither impressed.

And now the steep way up....

Cocktails were in this place 240 Bt, 2 for 1 at happy hour which didn't last that long. And the Chinese arrived as usually. They were screaming when their clothes became a bit wet and they didn't stop screaming until they left the island.

Wong Duen Resort next to out resort. Prices for Massage a bit higher as almost everything else.

Beach a bit wider compared to the other one a week ago.

Steep way up/down, not so good after a couple of beer.

I booked the C-Samet Resort, 3 nights in the sea view bungalow were 8260 Baht. A simple bungalow, little furniture, but clean.

That must have been a boat some times earlier: This years model: 300 Baht p.p. one-way in 10 minutes compared to 60 Baht in 50-60 min. with the slow boat. Rasta at Koh Samet

This time we went to Ao Wong Duean. The pier from where the boats are departing is juist a couiple of 100 meters further south. But first some lunch near the pier where Cinderella was preparing our food.

No....just wrap one or two in a grey note, that should entice one or the other.

Like a cocktail or 2 later in the evening? Nam Mao - drunken water - is almost next to it. A little beach bar we just tried yesterday for the very first time. No ladies or chrome poles here., but maybe you fancy some ping pong or throw some darts? We had 2 Margaritas, which were a bit sweet (150 Bt). The old leaves are gone, the new leaves are blooming. We asked to add some lime to the next glasses and the result was perfect, just as we like them. Cheers!

With 2 rice, 4 beer at 50 Bt, 3 mixed fruit shakes at 60 Bt and 4 water at 20 Bt the bill came to 1750 Bt. Strongly recommended, the massage as well. Unfortunately there are some negatives to be considered: in the backup are is some condo contruction ongoing, which might be noisy. As there are few customers this season, not all dishes will be fresh from the market but might be coming out of the deep freezer. Just ask, was food they had bought in the morning or better give them a call in the morning and order what you like to eat for dinner. Shrimps or crabs from the freezer are just not good enough.

Everything is simple and informal. With a party of 4 we ordered 2 fried rice with seafood, Tom Yam, gung chae nam pla (raw shrimps) and fish from the barby: Furthermore we enjoyed sweet and sour pork and some squid.

I put those 2 places into 1 thread, as they are almost next to eachother. A couple of 100 meters north of the Ambassador one can find a handful of simple beach eateries which usually offer a massage as well. During daytime they are busy with Russians from the Ambassador, in the evenig they are almost deserted, despite being high season. This is actually exactly what I like: sitting next to the sea, listening to the sound of the waves, eating fresh seafood with a cold beer and relax, maybe having a nice massage. We sampled the first restaurant in the group of maybe 7 (coming from the Ambassador, not the one that is almost next to it), but we were a bit disappointed from the food. Another day, and we went to one of the restaurants a bit further north, called Jina restaurant. It is becoming one of our favorit places. The food is usually excellent and the people are lovely.

Thanks for sharing. Was there more than 20 years ago, but wouldn't return now. Better to visit some other secluded part of the beautiful south.

Time out. Sorry Krapow, managed only 6 more threads. Had to drive the neighbor to the hospital, as her car broke down and she had to visit her boyfriend who had just undergone a 7 hour procedure. Will try harder next time, so be easy on my car.

Conclusion: I am living since several years in Pattaya, but this was my first trip to Koh Samet. The right place to get away from it all. In future I will stay at some of the other beaches, Ao Wong Duean being on the cards in the next days. For a longer trip I think I will rather choose Koh Chang, as there seems to be a bit more to do.
