  1. No reason to deport them as they are needed, especially right now. The food harvesting & distribution network in the US (& globally) is at high risk due to COVID-19. California is one of the top agricultural producers in the world & the top one in the US. read: https://fortune.com/2020/03/18/food-harvests-risk-coronavirus-travel-bans-migrant-labor/ https://civileats.com/2020/04/15/food-distribution-101-what-happens-when-the-food-supply-is-disrupted-by-a-pandemic/ https://www.nationalgeographic.com/science/2020/04/farmworkers-risk-coronavirus-infection-keep-us-fed/ https://aghires.com/california-largest-food-producer-u-s/
  2. From the US... Anti-body tests are beginning to show the extent the C-virus has spread in the community. A study conducted near Silicon Valley brought forth new information. Coronavirus infections could be much more widespread than believed, California study suggests "One key takeaway from the preliminary Santa Clara County results is that a large number of people who are infected with the coronavirus never show any symptoms, said a UCLA epidemiologist. The fact that infected people could unknowingly be contagious means that some level of physical distancing needs to remain in place..." https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-04-17/coronavirus-antibodies-study-santa-clara-county?utm_source=sfmc_100035609&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Coronavirus+Today+-+Osys+Campaign++%2322895-1587178196385&utm_term=https%3a%2f%2fwww.latimes.com%2fcalifornia%2fstory%2f2020-04-17%2fcoronavirus-antibodies-study-santa-clara-county&utm_id=4687&sfmc_id=853260 Some folks are not happy about "shelter in place" orders. ‘Live Free or Die’: Protesters march against California stay-at-home rules in Huntington Beach https://www.latimes.com/california/story/2020-04-17/protesters-california-stay-at-home-coronavirus?utm_source=sfmc_100035609&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Coronavirus+Today+-+Osys+Campaign++%2322895-1587178196385&utm_term=https%3a%2f%2fwww.latimes.com%2fcalifornia%2fstory%2f2020-04-17%2fprotesters-california-stay-at-home-coronavirus&utm_id=4687&sfmc_id=853260

  5. What about all the folks who have (will) OD on various opioids? There was a big uptick after the 2008 Great Recession. This time could be even worse.

  8. I've decided to modify my staircase to increase "stocking up" capacity. -- perfect size for wine, liquor & RPG rounds.
  9. Summer travel in Asia is not looking good. Central Africa might have some possibilities, though. 🤠 https://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2020/04/01/more-than-nine-in-ten-people-worldwide-live-in-countries-with-travel-restrictions-amid-covid-19/

  12. A bit like the afterlife... It's there waiting for us all.
  13. Point well taken. I'm new here & will stick to the format. Guilty as charged. Apologies. Now about that testing & tracking...what's a palatable method to do this? In the absence of a vaccine & now with proven asymptomatic transmission, there are many pitfalls to "opening up" world economies.
  14. As long as politicians are making medical strategy / decisions -- whether it be about fighting the virus or funding everyday health care -- the two are inseparable, are they not? Personally, I could give a rat's arse about politicians but my life & my family's is at stake due to underlying health conditions. I will gladly allow any gov'mint to track me or my phone if it helps keep us safe & healthy. Time to face reality straight on. But, feck it...don't want to ruffle any delicate feathers. Enjoy yer suds...
  15. "There are now more than over 13,000 confirmed cases of coronavirus across the continent, with a number of African countries imposing a range of prevention and containment measures against the spread of the pandemic. https://www.africanews.com/2020/04/12/coronavirus-in-africa-breakdown-of-infected-virus-free-countries/ "South Africa Reports First COVID-19 Deaths, Goes Into 3-Week Lockdown"
  16. Did I miss something? This thread is entitled... "COVID 19 GLOBAL (non Thailand) Posts" Why is posting about the US considered political in the context of the virus? They are getting hit the worst.
  17. So, how does the US stop the body count? Tally as of 12 april...
  18. Good point. I did not know that. I've only read about the US voter ID debate. Regarding the original post that I commented about -- concerning Americans in the future possibly having to prove their COVID-19 status (positive or negative) -- via a mobile phone app, a micro chip on their ID, or spot checks. From what I've read (e.g., Bill Gates & epidemiologists) testing and tracking is the best way to move forward with fighting the virus until a vaccine is implemented. There should not be a problem for Americans as they are already used to it for guns and voting?
  19. Voting is a constitutional right. It varies in application by state. The requirement for other types of IDs in the context of COVID-19 -- referenced in a previous post -- is not protected by a specific constitutional right, however distasteful for many. Follow along if you can.
  20. ID not required. see: https://www.eac.gov/sites/default/files/eac_assets/1/6/Federal_Voter_Registration_ENG.pdf
  21. There is no constitutional right to carry a disease, travel freely, or be required to prove absence of a heath condition.
