We've been getting some very nice Hass avocados in the stores lately. Unfortunately I can't convince the rest of the clan to enjoy guac or anything else I do with them with me.

Last June I tried booking through Agoda and was contacted by the hotel to confirm because they'd been getting a lot of no-show bookings from them. Not a scam because it was pay on arrival. This month I booked the same hotel directly through email, again pay on arrival. I wonder if something at Agoda (and therefore all the other online booking companies they've acquired) has broken down? I used them for years with no problem.

In my case, because I have high blood pressure controlled with a daily pill the insurance companies here won't cover me for anything heart or circulatory system related. So I self insure and keep several million in Thai banks. That makes the retirement extension easy. I have no idea why someone wouldn't trust Thai banks just because the government wants retirees to prove either through deposit or transfers that they can afford to live here.

I just checked weather underground for Pattaya, as I'm headed there tomorrow for a few days and an old friend's birthday. Looks like its going to rain the whole time. Dang.

I'm a pretty serious drunk but genial. I've never been banned though I have been invited to go sleep it off and come back the next day. I decided to ban myself from the old secrets forum when it was turning into a sh*tshow.

It's actually a VAT, so it's added every step of a products life cycle. The "++" is usually in restaurants and hotels when they add that and a service charge to the price shown, rather than just incorporating it in the price like retail outlets do.

I was on a long assignment in Norway, and it started a light rain in late August the second year that didn't let up until it turned to snow and ice in October. By November I'd had enough of the perpetual darkness and told my company I was going to be back in Texas within six months working for them or somebody else. They got me transferred back in four months.

I think it's the whole EEC. Rayong has absolutely shredded all the roads as well. But at least they've finished a couple, and it is an improvement. It seems to take about two years from ripping up the roads to completion over here.
