  1. Cool with a strong breeze in Hua Hin, air quality doesn't look great though, looking back to the Hills.
  2. Had heard of the company Sapparo but had never seen the beer. Would certainly have remembered the fancy can. Late 90's I was living in Hull, ordering something that fancy would have been suicidal😛
  3. Never had that. Japanese restaurant?
  4. Both are so weirdly awful you wonder if it's an elaborate joke. A bar version of Springtime for Hitler.
  5. Vesuvio wine list is 8 pages long! Grabbed a photo of the last page that shows wine by glass.
  6. Just declined a Sikh gentleman's polite offer to read my fortune. Slightly surprising as was sat in McDonald's in Lotus on Rama IV having my breakfast. Only farang in the place and he makes a beeline to my table. After I turned him down he spun back around and walked out 😀. Could have done with him before the Cheltenham races last night. " I forsee you losing all your money 🤑 tonight!" Such is life, can never find a guru when you really need one.
  7. Think we all get more conservative as we age. Large and small C from a UK perspective. Had a very good old friend mark my card 2 years ago about how angry I could get, and it not fitting with my age. He was right, what real friends are for. Am getting calmer in Thailand but have had my moments. Not easy for you in London , sources of annoyance everywhere.
  8. There's On8 that's diagonally opposite that's inexpensive. Almost directly opposite there's one I think called Royal Express that I'd guess might be cheaper. Edit. Just checked online, the latter is called the Royal Express Inn. It's under 1k a night, and has been refurbished. So some of the old bad reviews can be ignored
  9. Just observing begging high season on Sukhumvit. Passed 4 beggars going from Soi 10 to Soi 8, all on the main road!!!! The one with the worst pitch was shouting out and rattling his collection tin.
  10. With thanks to @richy65 for an excellent recommendation, veggie pizza from Vesuvio. 360 baht, and they didn't charge for the water. Best pizza I've had in years.
  11. That's not good. All the American driven right wing neo liberalism led to the complete cluster f"*k that is Brexit. Hands up who thinks we've got out country back? And if you had your time again would you be able to bring your lovely wife into the UK with the proposed required income requirements? Sorry for the off topic, but all this nonsense large parts of the electorate has swallowed will only serve to f*** the economy. Back on topic, calm down and learn to love thy neighbour😗
  12. Spot on, you've gone from Rangers to the Breakfast Club. Who'd have predicted that?
  13. Great post. Totally agree on meeting like minded people. Back on the original post and tolerance, environment is a huge factor for me. I'm in Bangkok for a long weekend, have a few things to do and have made a good start on it. Not sure how tolerant I'd be living here day in day out. Maybe that just suggests I should get out of Sukhumvit!!!
  14. Ignore the glassware. Beer Lao Dark on draft, a first in Thailand for me
  15. Either one would give me a hangover, 2 Chang alone would do it. But both combined, madness😛
  16. Not the best photo but fantastic chicken fajitas at the Sportsman BKK. Came sizzling away, served with 4 fajitas. Best meal I've in the Sportsman by far, huge feed 350 baht and quality.
  17. I'd agree with that. I've been living in Thailand a couple of months, find myself more relaxed, far more tolerant of others and more understanding that things that are easy for me, may not be so for others. The locals attitude to life has slowly rubbed off on me.
  18. Does the guy ever manage to do a complete circle of the room before closing time😃 I was losing the will to live reading that list.
  19. I'm booked with Ethihad for the first time in May, flying one was from the UK back to BKK. The single flight was easily the cheapest at a base price of £420, think Eva was well over £600. For a £100 I've updgraded to a cabin with larger seats, guess it's a form of premium econony I shall report back on my experience!
  20. Good call. I posted a negative review for an obviously fake, plastic Irish pub that he'd reviewed along with others, during COVID. Everyman and his dog had reviewed the same place, farcical really. He and several of his disciples kept trying to come back on me without much success. To be fair to him, he didn't block me out. But these guys are salesman, the owner is always a great guy, the food the best in it's class e.t.c If I was 13 years old again I'd find these vloggers credible, but that's a long time gone!!!
  21. Same here, zero interest now in any Thai vlogs. I can see how they might be of interest to people who are unable to travel, say medical reasons, finances. If you are able to travel you are much better making up your own mind on the ground, and let your eyes be your guide. I have though "liked and subscribed" on the Fabulous Pattaya news channel. I'd view them as different from the vloggers as they are putting out a news service.(and much of it is relevant to the whole of Thailand). And perhaps most importantly succinct. Less than 5 minutes for the daily news bulletin, not the same thing reapeated, very, very slowly Hard to believe that people are still producing "content" going around filming on the streets of Pattaya.
  22. That does look excellent, shall have to give Viva . Understand it's the same owner as Monsoon and have really enjoyed everything I've had there.
  23. Noticed as I was paying that the fridge with the foreign beer was maintained at 11.8 degrees. The fridge with the Thai beer was 1.9 degrees. La Birra Hua Him, wonder how many days there business would last serving Thai beer at 11 degrees?
