  1. After 60+ years I'm slowly accepting that a fair portion of life is "going with the flow." This is not necessarily appealing for one who likes to take their own path. A few months ago I thought the "coronavirus threat" was BS...lots more people die from guns, car wrecks & opioids (here in the US), right? Then I was hearing from friends in Singapore, Seoul and Yunnan PRC what was going on in late January & early February. Now I have a friend who lost two family members, several friends that have been sick for over a month, friends who've beat it, etc. Half of my city is boarded up. Much of my family's daily life is changed. I take precautions when I'm in the general public. Staying well is a focus. My kid needs to go to school. I've got places to be. "Get(ting) on with life" is somewhat of an abstract concept at this point. Sounds good, though. I believe that normalcy can only happen if people take more personal responsibility to make sure that it does happens. Nobody is going to do it for them. Lately, I've seen a lot of people who -- for whatever reason -- don't seem to be doing this. This does not make me "afraid" but it does make me worry that COVID-19 will be with us for longer than it has to be.
  2. Joe: Really don't care what you do. But, what if somebody infected your lady or your kid because they didn't care? Think about it.

  12. Sick now, sick later? ...The UK National Health Service assumes that of Covid-19 patients who have required hospitalization, 45 percent will need ongoing medical care, 4 percent will require in-patient rehabilitation, and 1 percent will permanently require acute care. Other preliminary evidence, as well as historical research on other coronaviruses like severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and Middle East respiratory syndrome (MERS), suggests that for some people, a full recovery might still be years off. 17. How the virus spreads...south Korean style: 15 confirmed virus cases related to Itaewon clubber including 3 foreigners SEOUL/YONGIN, South Korea, May 8 (Yonhap) -- Thirteen more cases of the novel coronavirus were confirmed Friday, associated with a patient who visited clubs and bars in Seoul's popular multicultural neighborhood of Itaewon over the weekend. The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (KCDC) said that 14 of the patient's contacts, including three foreign nationals and one Army officer, have so far tested positive for COVID-19. The 29-year-old patient, whom health authorities consider a case of community transmission, visited five clubs and bars in Itaewon from Friday night to the early hours of Saturday last week. Twelve of the 13 new cases were those who had visited the Itaewon clubs, with the number feared to rise, considering that at least 1,510 people were estimated to have visited the five nightlife establishments, including King Club, Trunk Club and Club Queen. "It is highly likely that there are more cases down the road," Vice Health Minister Kim Ganglip said during a briefing... ...The city of Yongin said it identified 58 contacts of the man in its jurisdiction, including 44 co-workers. The man's company has been shut down to stem the spread of the virus. https://m-en.yna.co.kr/view/AEN20200508003653315?fbclid=IwAR0_X23Ys1R4UVQPRJaxHaD3CQkj0tvm4wf9B-Y9CglBO2ndbX1dOEKADx0
