  1. Triple Karmeliet a great beer would be worth 280 baht but not served warm. First time trying a new bar, won't be back.
  2. Picked up second hand, knew if was a movie but now have realised its a true story!! Insightful, enthralling an excellent read so far.
  3. Brilliant, hadn't realised that was out! May treat myself to a paper copy for Xmas.
  4. Very funny and I'd agree with large parts of it from a UK perspective. However in Thailand I'd love the option!! Don't like any of the omnipresent Chang, Leo or Sing. There are of course some craft beers Had this the other night and it was fantastic Bloody annoying as this proves the Thais can brew decent beer, but the market is carved up by the legislation and the big players. Went to Singha's bar Est.33 in Bangkok, they had several different draft ales, all way, way better than the piss they normally sell. So they can make a decent ale but just don't make the effort. Why bother when you've got an oligopoly? Who was the comedian in the video BTW?
  5. Been investigating other language school options as a back up. Might pass on this one🤔
  6. R.I.P Shane, saw him live as an 18 year old before the Pogues had released a record. Brilliant songwriter. https://www.theguardian.com/music/2023/nov/30/shane-macgowan-pogues-singer-dies?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
  7. Pale Ale from the Full Moon Breworks Phuket . It's surprisingly good, the best Thai craft in a bottle I've had so far, 109 baht.
  8. I did try that pharmacy, unfortunately they tried it on. I showed them the pic of the generic statin @forcebwithu found. He didn't have it but showed a strip of 10 tablets. The pharmacist asked me twice how many boxes I wanted. Twice I replied how much per box. He grudgingly typed 370 baht into the calculator. I pressed him a third time so 370 for a box. No the wanker was quoting me 370 for a strip of 10, despite asking twice how many boxes. So not 370, but 1100. I laughed and walked off. Hit lucky on the other side of Petchkasem road. There's the largest pharmacy I've been in Hua Him. It's on the junction of the sub Soi 55/2. Got these that retail online at 495 for 500 baht, so very fair price. Am loving your recommendation on Soi 51, have found some cracking little spots to investigate. The way it goes here, the good easily outweighs the bad, and sometimes you catch an unlucky break.
  9. Don Winslow, picked up second hand. Was unsure as hadn't heard of it but 100 pages in and I'm totally hooked 🙂
  10. I'd recommend you talk for a financial advisors before making any big decision. And perhaps don't make any financial decisions at present I look after my own investments. One of my share portfolios in the recent months had dropped from lets say for illustration from 228baht, all the way down to 187baht It would have been easy to panic, and look to switch. Now it's recovered back to 220baht. You are welcome to PM at any point. I'd never tell you what to do or buy, but happy for you to bounce ideas of me. In terms of fee, I can be bought off with a coffee and a cake!!
  11. My go to morning Cappuccino, 50 baht and a complimentary biscuit. Maybe they are trying to fatten me up🤔
  12. Really good coffee, really poor croissant! Stone cold in the middle microwaved warmish. Velo cafe Hua Hin
  13. Thanks I have started to explore around as far down as Soi 51 but more by walking down the Naebkedhardt Road. Found a decent little coffee shop(Mug cafe, I'm an idiot that is on Soi 51, google tells me😜), and a thai craft beer place(Three Dots and a Dash, expensive but fascinating Thai place), and a load of restaurants I want to try. Like Sushi so will definately give that a go.
  14. That's interesting thanks, that's a part of town I've only just started to explore to will track that down. Looking on Google maps there is a well reviewed Pharmacy in the area you are describing called Punya Pharmacy1. I'll get myself down there and give it a try.
  15. Thanks, when I try on the Fascino website all I get is an article on the atorvastation. Guess it's the case of trying your local branch. The one in North Pattaya is excellent I remember, in HH isn't but I can only ask. I'm vary of using this online pharmacies that I've never heard over. But happy to give Bangkok Pharmacy a go as see you've used it in the past.
  16. @forcebwithu I've resurrected this thread of yours as need some help please, and this thread seems more approrpriate than the generic health thread. I was diagnosed with high cholestoral in the UK and prescribed 40 mg of Lipitor, which as I understand in the brand name for Atorvastation. The price of this in Thailand seems to be around 2K baht for a box of 30!!!! There surely has to be a cheap generic alternative? If you or any other Thailand based BM knows the generic alternative and can suggest a supplier that would be very much appreaciated
  17. Stickman reported from an email response from them that it was a denial of service attack. https://www.stickmanbangkok.com/weekly-column/2023/11/stickman-weekly-november-19-2023/
  18. I revisited Warm Welcome, Soi 33 BKK to try something else as I was so impressed with yesterday's visit- wasn't disappointed. Tiny place three tables inside, 2 outside but I'm forming the impression that whilst they only offer a small range, everything they do is excellent.
  19. Chicken Panini, with a fresh side salad. 180 baht and top notch.
  20. That would have been fantastic I guess!
  21. Yep was just sipping it watching the horse racing and the cricket. Got a fair bit to do tomorrow, so steady evening.
  22. Watching the cricket, no skin in the game but the old "Only sing when you're winning .." song echoing in my head. Talk about fair weather fans, not over yet though.
  23. Banofffee 145 baht and the best coffee I've had in Thailand 75 baht. Lady behind the counter just starting off preparing a new Desert from scratch. Warm Welcome, Soi 33 BKK definitely coming back.
