  1. Recon trip in the Seminyak beach area. Woaw, the place is full bars and eateries, very touristic. Beach is not bad as well, even with the deck chairs ! Need to explore this area by night ! Having a Bintang in a small beach bar
  2. Yes, thanks Lambik. Forgot to put up a pic of the real thing ! I must say, I was really pissed off when I saw the plate coming. I understand it is difficult or nearly impossible to find sole here, but than dont advertize it ! Found a Belgian place in Seminyak, 20 min from here, called BEL CHIC to explore soon. It has good reviews on Google and T.A. , some from Belgian people.
  3. Went to a place here in Sanur called L.B.V. Well, it used to be Le Bon Vivant but some smart ass thought using an meaningless abrevation would be a good idea... Western food, french orientated. So I went for the "sole meuniere" on the menu. And this thing was served : Now, dont get me wrong, it was not bad but this is definitively not sole meuniere, it is breaded cod with mash FFS and it sure doesn't justify a 300b price tag. I hate when using this kind of tricks. Lucky I did not order the "moules marinieres" ..... Needless to say I will make a little comment on T.A., and this place is of my list.
  4. Bell silenced since I am retired ! Only have the vibration on, same for Whatsapp, Line and some other apps.
  5. @john luke, You sure seem to eat very well Mate !
  6. I liked very much this one. Watched the first episode yesterday. Gives a (sad) view of a very complicated society with some twisted and medieval social rules. I in fact respect those guys for trying to do their job with very limited means, in a very difficult environment, and with (I think) limited basic training. The cases of the house demolition, the little runaway girl, and the "kidnapped" girl (in fact a romantic runaway) are all reflecting a dramatic society in disarray. The young women cop seems to understand and start seeing the world she lives in from a completely point of view.
  7. Another offer of fine Yank gastronomy coming to Thailand.... https://pattayaone.news/en/taco-bell-first-store-bangkok-additional/ Sorry, did not really know where to post this.
  8. Did it last week. I am always a bit apprehensive with upgrades but in fact this one (Android 9.0) did not change too much things apparently. The look seems a bit sharper ? My laptop asked me to upgrade the BIOS, but now thats something I am really scared off ! Even my local guy at the computer center was like "wow, wow....I am not sure about that one".
  9. Just ordered some new bikinis for the Miss. WWW website Australia. Not cheap, but they have nice stuff. And she loves them...I am not gonna complain !
  10. Morning swim, but no sun today. Rainy season has arrived !
  11. Sorry, not NETFLIX but I didn't know where to put this. This short video made me smile, specially after having lived 8 y in HKG where it is exactly that. BTW, they should make a HKG version replacing the rats with headless chicken or chicken with their head dug in their phone !
  12. We both cook. She used to cook only the Asian stuff, but since more than 2 years is good at some western stuff as well. She even learned to cook pasta "al dente" and not as a sloppy mess they usual do ! Next step "stoofcarbonade met bier" ? ? PS : My ex was a great cook, she learned when studying in France. I lost something on that part.....
  13. Yep, there is clearly a message in that plate. Asian style.... If not more than twice a month its bearable !
  14. Keep it simple IMO ! A duration (30d, 45d, 60d ?) without post, as mentionned first seems ok to me.
  15. Besides the bacon and maybe the simili hashbrown I would have touched anything from this.
  16. Dropped by at Carrefour this morning, they have a French baker and superb "baguette", hence lunch was a good classic "Jambon /beurre / gruyere" sandwich.
  17. I appreciate them when they speak with incomprehensible Scottish accent..... Or Liberians "rebels" speakin English...
  18. And still no other fellow frog joigning......😭 Lucky we have our Belgian senior citizen !
  19. Problem.in the west is we are drowning in H.S., regulations, standards, 100 forms.... Simple creativity is dead, everything need to be sophisticated. We build something like that it will be Hybrid, computer controlled, an Ipad on the dashboard, special license needed....and it will cost 100,000 euro.
  20. You get used.to it....Waitresses in my regular restaurant call me papa.... Mind you, they call Miss Indo "mother" ! Papa is not bad. First time some person in the MTR stands up and give you his seat...then you realize you must really look like shit.....
  21. Now THATS a beach ! Visited there many moons ago in my Navy days... 21 y old, you can imagine !
  22. A bit boring this week, the main subject being absent ….. Absence should not last too long, or I might loose my skills !
  23. OK, today a bit of jungle technology ! Saw this "mobile wood saw truck" a few times near the house. The idea is when you have a tree to cut and transform in planks, you call them. Of course as a technician this aroused my interest and I went to have a close look. Pretty interesting, and well thought. Basically it is an engine that drive or the travelling transmission (through a gearbox) or directly a circular saw mounted on the back of the truck. The rotation speed of the saw is obtained by the size of the saw drive pulley, and adjusting the engine speed. General view : On the pic here under you can see the thing in "travelling" mode, the engine driving the G.B. and transmission. You will note on the left a second set of V-Belts that will be put in place of the "travelling mode" belts, and will drive the pulleys at the end of the saw drive shaft. Dont be tricked ! The left tank is for the coolant circuit, the right (blue) one for the fuel. Operating process : Note the cloth used as a protection against wood chips projections ! Job done, clean up at charge of the client !
