I have and use the identical setup for transferring money to Thailand. Perhaps at some point Schwab at least will adopt the IAT format for ACH transfers and we can once again use that method for fee free transfers of money.

My experience has been I lose about .19 off the interbank transfer rate on the currency conversion. I've also been pleasantly surprised to see the last couple of SWIFT transfers hitting my account in less than 24 hours. The most recent one on March 21st took only 12 hours.

When things are set up proper, and you have no negative issues (which we all may have from time to time), then they usually go smooth.

Things can go up and down as far as timeliness with transfers.

It's kind of a game with the AI fcuks.

Me & the missus have accounts with Bangkok Bank in Korat, the transfer I did on Monday reached her account on Thursday  morning. That was a tester as I'd never used Xe.com before.I did another on Thursday & I hope it gets to her on Saturday-BKK Bank is open on Saturdays. She's flying home to the UK on Sunday.

BTW when I answered the weird email I got from Xe I said something like "Why are you asking this now"....I got a nice reply thanking me for relpying to their questions.

Had a good day out with friends yesterday. We met early at Nikom to warm up with a few beers. We then wandered out and down to Beach Rd about 1 pm. Seemed to be less people about this year compared to years past. Also was surprised to see vehicle traffic on Beach Rd, thought they were going to block it off from Klang to Tai.

Eventually we turned up Soi 7 and stopped at Fore Play bar. I was first to order and when I asked how much for the Leo was told 90B. Next one in our group who hadn't heard me ask, asked the same question and was told 95B. The rest of your group of six were charged 100B.

We stayed long enough to finish our overpriced beer and then moved on. On the way out I mentioned to the lady who did the multi-tiered pricing that we all lived here and we didn't appreciate the overcharging on beer prices. Her reply was it was Songkran so prices were higher.

Foolish business decision on her part. Not sure what regular pricing is, but let's say it's 80B which would be about 45B/beer profit. So instead of us staying and having a couple of beers at her bar, we left after one beer. So in the end she earned an extra 20B/person and gave up the 45B/person she would have earned if we had stayed and had at least one more round. She also lost our future custom as we'll be sure to avoid her bar going forward.

Yep. they never are able to figure that shit out. I almost feel sorry for them they are so stu.....

Evening all planned out now !

I'm just about to go out and water everything in the orchard. When that's done I'll cook a nice piece of Aussie striploin rare, then fry mushrooms in the juice and butter. All washed down with "Soft and Smooth" Aussie Cabernet Merlot 14% and 346 baht from Lotus's...

Then it is gonna be a night of drinking and watching the footie coz I bought 3 bottles!!

@Stillearly must be praying for me to drink at least one bottle before Fantasy Deadline time !!!

Got home and went straight to bed after turning my water back on and my heating up to 19 degrees.

    Slept well for 8 hours.

Feels good to be home again, although I now have all of the mail to go through and the jobs to catch up on.

My mate left me a bottle of milk by the door, so I can at least enjoy a fresh cup of tea without going out.

That's a damn good mate ! Nothing is as important as that first cup of tea. Especially on your first morning home !

The wife is too dumb to think I could be suspecting anything; after all she believes shouting out the bedroom window about the badly parked van belonging to an unknown plumber, while her husband is away, couldn't  possibly make me suspicious.lol

The definition of eccentric is "unconventional and slightly strange."

Is that not how the general public as a whole view (at the very least) all expats? 😄

As for solo regular male visitors to Thailand? They think we are all having sex with Thai females half our age.

    I wish 🤣

The way I stumble down the soi's (even on a good day), sweating, grumbling, moaning, shaking my head and barking at people,,,,, I may actually fit into this category.

Just had to ask a van driver to move his motor from blocking my off road parking space.   A week ago the same van was out there for about an hour blocking my space but as I wasn't going anywhere I let it go, the guy left before I needed to use my car. The van was a plumbers business van,

I did think last week that it was odd that a plumber would be in the house as the owner has his own plumbing contract business, just so happens also that his sexy wife was in the house. The owner was not in the house as he leaves to work 7.30 am everyday.

Today, I had to go across to the house to ask for the van to move; just before I got there the wife opens an upstairs window and shouts out that it is her plumber parked there (I knew that). I just asked her to get the guy to move his van further down the road. Anyhow, funnily, it took the guy about a minute to come out of the house and move the van, wonder why.

Owner has been having problems with his wife who obviously puts it about, he had left the home for a few months due to previous problems, seems she is still up to her tricks again.

Really don't care what she does but get your bit on the side to park elsewhere.

So the plumber is fucking your neighbors wife in the dudes own house....  ???   And you are now involved in it ???   Oh, fcuk me. Take a holiday mate.

I had drain problems earlier this year. But there were no women around.

Just watched a short vid about the little know airfield built by the allied POWs near Ubon Ratchatani. Buggered if I find it again to link to it but it was on one of the expat FB groups.

First I had heard about the place, as the Ozzie guy who made the vid said, everyone knows about the death railway, few know about this. Apparently conditions weren’t quite as harsh as the Bridge but was still brutal for the 3k POWs.

They keep that stuff pretty tight I'd reckon.

I remember the first time I drove into UTAPO one evening a few years back. I broke out in tears... and that one took a few before I was able to  compose myself.

I remember it from when I was a little kid. Watching on the 6 o'clock news the B-52's flying out of there.

It made an impression. A deep one.
