It will land at telegraphic transfer rates. I've done comparisons with all major British Banks up to £10,000 to Thailand and none of them will beat the bottom line of Transferwise. Simply because they use Interbank rates. There will come a point though that your own banks "fixed fee" will beat bottom line of TW which obviously has sliding upward scale. Combined with virtually instant transfers from TW these days, for small amounts up to at least 10k I see no point in using anyone else

Yes but a hung parliament would have put us back at 37. Everythings easy with hindsight. What she should have done was pound cost average as I always advocate..... 1k before and now 1k after....would have ended up with an average around 40 or just over but shes still had a result at what 39.5 when considering 6 weeks ago we'd have bitten our hands off for that when it was 36.5 back then

Yes agree avoid Fridays and weekends if you're in a hurry albeit am not sure if you switched to traditional bank methods it would be any quicker..... If you used UK banks on a Saturday/Sunday its going nowhere till the Monday morning anyway

Have just completed final transfer via TW as its clear Sterling/Dollar has stalled prior to Thursday election with Sterling/Baht at 39.89 and it again was already in the SCB and in the time it took me to press send to TW and then log in to Thai Bank.....seconds literally if not instant Reason I've done it now is noises of a hung parliament are rising following the disaster zone lies of Bozo literally every time he open his mouth. Hung and it'll sink some way. If he succeeds than Sterling may rise further (priced in in my opinion already) but at least fair bit of dosh secured just shy of 40 in the interim

I had heard more than a few times what @Bazle has said earlier. Am not sure but I'm inclined to believe they are just straight forward transfers done electronically (as we do bank to bank at home instantly) and the days of banks/institutions sitting on cash for days are long gone

Reading reports elewhere send Monday through Thursday its virtually instant (also my experience twice this week) but send on Friday through Sunday and its slower Rate is locked anyway so unless an emergency doesnt make a lot of difference

TT is 39.63 at time of post Be wary of waiting and waiting to transfer cash..... Sterling is climbing against the Greenback because the Tories are looking pretty confident of victory. That may change leading into next week and Sterling will plummet if any hint of a hung parliament is on the cards. Pound cost averaging is your friend here. I've lumped over another 1k at 39.80 via Transferwise. If Tories are returned with a majority it will go higher make no mistake at which point I'll send another 1k which with previous transfer will cover next months trip If a hung parliament ensues Sterling will drop sharply but at least you locked in some of the higher rates (of recent times)

Baht weakened slightly against the Dollar and on other side of currency pairing Sterling up against that same USD....

Live interbank is 39.68 currently. Should be around 39.50 at TT thursday morning if markets dont move much overnight

Interbank live is 39.38 at time of post so have just sent over £1.5k via Transferwise towards Januarys trip to lock that in and will pound cost average should rhe Tories win next week which will send Sterling higher..... The danger is a hung parliament (in my opinion its a very high chance) will send it lower and 39.38 is the highest its been since I cant remember when

Meant to say previously Oman check in has changed and now you can select both sectors at the 48 hour before wheels up point. They had 1000s of complaints over it via FB and Sindbad FF holders and it seems they've listened and rectified the issue and put it back to the original set up
