I walked along Beach Road this afternoon. I couldn't see the islands, and the Bali Hi / Waterfront area was obscured by smog.

I took a stroll down Walking Street this afternoon, just before 5pm. The beer bars, mainly Simon Complex and the carousel one in Soi Diamond, were heaving with them. I wonder what WS will be like this evening.

Actually, I think it is Soi 13/3 (or possibly 13/4).

As I have said before, with the sea now never covering a large proportion of the beach, I wonder how that area is going to be kept clean of things like piss. I can imagine the headlines in a few years' time - "Pattaya beach deemed a health hazard"!

Who needs Striderman and Big John, eh!! 😄 (But it would be nice to see them over here!)

For anyone in Pattaya over the next two weeks, you should be aware that the annual Cobra Gold military exercises, with US, Thai and other forces, are taking place between 12 and 23 February. This usually results in quite a few US military personnel spending their time around Walking Street. If you didn't have your own transport there, is it feasible to get around fairly easily - e.g. by Baht bus?

I've been there only once, and that was many years ago. One enduring memory is how bloody cold it was! The freezing wind off the sea cut through my clothing. So be prepared to wrap up warm!

I went once many years ago and really remember very little of use except how bloody cold the wind coming off the sea was. Take your warmest clothes with you!

Pictures of Soi Chaiyapoon suggest there has been rain recently. Has it helped clear the pollution?

I was going to start a topic on the same. I don't recall ever experiencing such bad pollution anywhere anytime. I went to Central Marina at the top of Second Road this afternoon. The air was seriously dirty; I had to get down to Beach Road ASAP. We've had a little rain this evening. We need a lot more to try to clean up the air.

That's no mist, it's pollution - and causing many people respiratory problems.

Taken this afternoon showing Pattaya’s new big beach, and the dreadful air pollution we have at the moment.

Don't automatically blame the food. There's some sort of bug going around, and I had it Tues/Wed. Did you also feel like you wanted to vomit? Did you have hay-fever type symptoms for two or three days beforehand?

I'm resisting going cashless but it's not being made easy. The automated check-out at my local supermarket won't accept cash. A pub I go to sometimes won't accept copper coins (yes, they are within their rights). I didn't ask for it but the bank turned my debit card into contactless, so now I'm having to deal with Transport for London on a card clash problem. Subsequently, the bank has replaced my debit card with a non-contactless one.
