  1. Slightly off topic but when I was looking for the above pics I came across this,at least one of the bottles has been drunk. @Derek Dangleberries
  2. In WWII my maternal grandfather was an ARP warden,he's the guy in the middle with the glasses. This pic was in a book about Watford my aunt bought about 30 years ago, when they saw the pic her & my mum got the publisher to give them a print. He also won the Military Medal in WWI at the battle of Epehy in 1918.We donated his medals & the citation to the Royal Fusilier museum in the Tower of London.
  3. During WWII my dad drove a scout car for the Royal Artillery,he went through the invasions of North Africa,Sicily & Italy & was at the battle of Monte Cassino. For most of his later life he was a manic depressive & I'm sure his war experiences were the cause.Sometimes over a beer he's talk about them & it was pretty horrific. We think this was taken in Austria after the Nazi surrender.
  4. Today's lunch, red pepper hummus with cucumber on Scottish oatcakes, nice but messy.
  5. For the smaller teams getting a draw away at a big club then having a money spinning replay was always part of the glamour of the cup.

  9. Yep I went in there a couple of times but from what I remember it was best to have the act done under the bar whilst watching the porn movies cos the girls were pig ugly. My mates bar The Pleasuredome was a couple of doors down on Soi Post Office.
  10. One of the all time greats,a really good tribute by Geoffrey Boycott in the Telegraph today. RIP Deadly.
  11. Sunday dinner,chicken & leek pie,luvverley!
  12. There were no stoppages in the 7 minutes extra time in Soton vs Watford....so how come Soton scored the winner in the 99th minute? & that after an obvious handball....fucking refereeing in the championship is diabolical.
  13. Back to basics tonight, cheesey beans on toast with fried eggs, very nice
  14. She won't drink my wine she likes rose.
  15. Yesterdays dinner....I'll be glad when SWMBO gets back, getting bored with cooking & generally looking after myself.
  16. The tightest person I've ever met is an old English lady friend of my wife. She has always had money and was always very well connected, she was a body double in the 60's film Blow Up & used to go out with the son of Don Arden,an infamous music manager of the time who lived in Bel-Air.She also lived in her own house in Barnes, but has since moved to Richmond, pocketing a load of cash from the Barnes sale. When she goes on the tube she scours the ground outside the station for discarded tickets & when the missus first introduced me to her in 1991 she called me a terrible man, because after buying her a drink in Tim Beer Bar on beach road I told her it was her round.
  17. A great performance from the Hornets last night with a 0-0 draw away to Ipswich, who average 2 goals per game this season.
