  1. See, you need to know how it works. I've experience in the Pattaya food scene. Nobody actually gives fu** how good it is, how it looks or how its presented. All they care about is SEX. Yes, that three letter word. Now, sex in Pattaya isn't what it used to be. Most of the bar girls are pigs. In fact I wont insult pigs. And the big problem is that Johnny ex-pat can't afford to get His leg over. So He spends all day looking for cheap bile to eat then gushing all over facebook on the breakfast Club. While He's having a wank about some ladyboy He fancies but cant get as He's broke. See, that's how 95% of Pattaya ex-pat foodies operate. Food is sold at a loss in the thinking that the customer will come back and buy beer. In reality they will buy from 7/11. But, hey ho. Glad we got out while we did. We actually made money. but I could see the tsunami starting to appear. And I've never met a more jealous, spiteful bunch of bastards than 60% of Pattaya ex-pats. For the genuine eateries trying to sell at a loss, hoping for drink sales! I feel sorry for them. Nobody realises the obstacles, difficulties involved. Thais are the worst employees on Earth. Unless they are getting pissed and rogered at the end of the night. Skint customers will find fault in everything. Nightmare owning an eatery in Pattaya. Bars way better IF, IF you have girls.
  2. And most come from the UK living off money laundering and other activities.
  3. Could be worse. In Birmingham England they practice voodoo and boil people in pots. US is in great shape. People should be allowed to own guns.
  4. They were offering the 15000 Monthly package with free food. No!
  5. Yeah, you're going to give up your dream life in Pattaya for a £8 an hour repo job in the UK. Course you are.
  6. Met Him a few times. I heard that Him and pal sold the booze lounge for x million to some fellow and put it in Howards pals Wifes name. Came from a very reliable source. No idea the repercussion.
  7. Was it a beach bar? They bulldozed a lot of them. Yes, many scams but same in Thailand really. In Cambodia the Gov might take it. In Thailand the Thai with the business in Her name might take it. Same same but different. We had no problems at all. They were upfront and honest. Easy visa Can work Cheap cost of living No reporting Can run your own bar and everything in YOUR name Easy monthly tax system. What's not to like about it?
  8. It's okay. Have fond memories of the place. Some banks in Snooky when I was there were paying 15% interest on term accounts. Pretty damn good.
  9. Correct. Social media started to destroy the Pattaya experience, long before the X rate. But now, it just ain't worth it.
  10. He's a people person He loves conversation. Anyhow, wish Him all the best I've known Him since Black's Bar in Soi 7. Difficult time's ahead for many. We were hoping to return but I'd be nuts to risk a lot of cash there in this present climate.
  11. Have you ever dealt with Thai landlords? They don't do deals, no matter how long the property has been empty. They increase prices. You need girls and unless you have the contacts His subscribers wont stay for long. Crazy time to open a bar in Pattaya.
  12. It's all about the girls. If you have them and can get replacements you can survive. And thats not easy.
  13. Well I hope not. Alex been there a long time. Always a friendly welcome and a good place to drink. No doubt it is tough for a lot of business operators now.
  14. Bangkok bank currently at 37.86 Baht to £1 https://www.bangkokbank.com/en/Personal/Other-Services/View-Rates/Foreign-Exchange-Rates
  15. Looks good Phil. Cracking photos.
  16. Didn't know him but very sorry to hear. Thailand's roads are deadly.
  17. The ambulances get paid more for dropping you off at a private hospital. They will never take you to a Government hospital.
  18. Never ever let them take you to a private hospital, use a Government one. When my Wife arrived at Bangkok Pattaya with a bust arm they told Her '350,000 Baht to fix it' lucky She was still conscious and Her condition was not life threatening, She told the ambulance to take her to Banglamung. Private room, operation, drugs, 24 hour nursing care, total bill 32000 Baht, which our insurance covered anyway. 2 years later Her arm is fine, not an ache or pain and held together with steel plates and pins.
  19. Well, never go to Thailand without good medical cover. The public hospitals are good. A fraction of the cost of private. Would they provide insurance for an 80 year old?
