  1. One of those charming old traditions, I guess... lol
  2. After the clusterf*ck experience trying to use their website when it would only let me transfer money to my own Wise account, and not to my account in Thailand, they had the cheek to send me an e-mail immediately afterwards asking me to rate my experience and send them any additional comments I might have. I'd have rated them at zero, but one was the lowest score you could give, so I made up for it in the comments. I don't suppose that anyone actually reads this stuff, though, at best they'll have some sort of an AI parsing the results, and my insults probably went well over the top of its training. My impression this last year is that Wise is growing far too fast for its own good, I for one would never hand them thousands of pounds as, by the time you actually want it, they'll have changed the website or app so that you can't do it the way you did the last time, or you have to jump through 5 additional hoops. They're OK for sending a grand here and a grand there, but if I need to bring in a lot more I'll use my Barclays UK account as international transfers are free. I might not get as good a rate as with Wise or XE, but with no fee to pay on, say £10K or £20K, it'll probably all work out roughly the same.
  3. I had exactly the same thing on my PC a few days ago. You enter your password and click on the bar but nothing happens. After 20 attempts I gave up and just used the app on my phone. I've noticed recently that they've been changing the layout of stuff on the website, which is confusing to say the least. A month or so back, after the website simply refused to let me send money anywhere but to myself, I sent them a very strongly worded e-mail with various references to onanist chimpanzees and programmers with an excessive Oedipus complex. I kind of thought they might have banned me for that, but no, the app worked fine. It's probably their 16-year old website manager taking 30 minutes off playing Call of Duty to muck up some code that was working perfectly well before. Or else they're just following the likes of SCB and trying to abandon the website so they only have to maintain the app. Remind me how many hundreds of millions they made in profit last year, they must really feel the need to save on expenses. lol
  4. It's so damn hot in Isaan that even the cacti are trying to escape!
  5. I saw this mentioned on Thai Visa a week or two back, and it sounds interesting to me. Located up near Don Mueang, apparently, I'd never heard of it before, but I gather evil farangs can visit and it's even free. https://www.museumthailand.com/en/museum/National-Aviation-Museum-of-The-Royal-Thai-AirForce That'll be on the agenda for my next visit, anyway.
  6. Ben Fogle, that cracked me up, lol....
  7. One for the Brits, lol.
  8. I've always found it a very depressing drink straight, or even on the rocks. I quite enjoy the Blend 285 Black here in Thailand though, served up in a tall glass with lots of ice and soda water so you only get a gentle whiskey flavour in the background. That's a happy drink to me. My spirit of choice nowadays is Cognac, and nothing lower than VSOP. This is the latest addition to my collection, Camus XO Prestige: I only drink one small measure of Cognac a day as a digestif after my evening meal. Since that one works out at over 500 Baht per measure, that's all I can afford!!! lol
  9. This was posted on FB, supposedly by somebody in Pattaya. He didn't mention the name of the restaurant, but I like the way they're thinking, lol.
  10. Can't we contact DWP instead and ask them to give us the indexation since HMRC are charging us tax on it? lol
  11. This is how Columbus thought the world looked before he set sail.

At least it's easier than getting a Thai Non-Imm OA visa, there's no need for a criminal records check! lol
  13. Nothing app-related, but I forgot my wallet a few days ago when I went shopping up on Soi Khao Talo. I went to the nearest Lotus Express and used my SCB card in a K-bank ATM there to withdraw 20K Baht. No problem, and it was a free service. When did that change? In the past I was always charged 20 Baht for using my SCB card in another bank's ATM, so I've studiously avoided doing so for many years.
