I went one night in HCMC, bus down to Vung Tau for a week and ferry up the Mekong back to HCMC about 6 months ago. I was lucky in that a mate who knew his way about was there and helped me out with organisation etc. but could easily be done yourself or with a little help from here.

There's a new (to me) pizza place in Treetown, just next to the Bangkok Bank. All pizzas 99 baht and a good selection to choose from. Decent size and taste based on a sample size of one.

I think that one is still there and the yellow one has moved.

I had some time to spare at the airport yesterday so ventured down for the first time to the bottom level where the good exchanges are supposed to be found. It was my first time and I'd had a bellyfull of beer on the plane so there may be some errors. As I walked past the ramps down to the platform entrance the exchange places were past the bottom and to the left of these ramps. Is that the place? The first booth on my right was one of the xxxRich places and was shut. Relocated to the Nova(?) hotel a short distance away according to a sign on the window. The other xxxRich places were as far as I could go, and last two booths on my left. Again, does that sound right from those who have been before? Anyway, all these places were offering < 40 baht for my GBP. When checking xe.com on my phone I estimated >40 at TT Pattaya which was indeed the case when I got there. I thought these airport ones were the best so what have I got wrong? Should I have gone to the new location of the one that had moved?

I'm gold with Emirates, and will renew next month so I might give that a go.

F*** me. The lounge supervisor has just come over and said she's checked the onboard menu and I'm right (I knew that) and curry is one of the choices. She says she'll be in touch with the crew and get them to keep me the beef.

Exit row seat blagged and in the Emirates Lounge now. Just had a discussion with the staff saying I wasn't impressed by the menu choices - two curries from three mains - especially as curry is also on the menu on the flight to Dubai. Just as well the lamb was OK.

Tomorrow. Early start to hopefully bag an exit row seat at the airport.

Sorry, but with the rapid expansion, fuelled by Secret's imminent demise and being promoted by this boards owners, there is going to be crossover as has been seen numerous times already. The net for new members seems to have been cast with a focus on quantity, not quality, as was the initial aim here. If that is indeed the approach from the owners, the mods are going to be busy due to that approach.

If you time it right (!) you can get at least three breakfasts betweeen Thailand and the UK.

They started when I was there in Dec/Jan and don't seem to have moved much further south. Looks like I'll be seeing them again next week.

I heard about one Emirates flight to Gatwick being diverted to Manchester after a couple of failed attempts to land, and I was at Edinburgh picking friends up who reckon their flight came in sideways, so it seems most of the country was affected.

Not mine, but some sort of soup. I had a strange Thai omelette but no pic.

Just finished packing for flight back to UK after a week in Copenhagen.
