  1. This has got a 2006 plate on it. Of course it's not the same bike as Triumph Bonnevilles built in Meriden up to the late 70s. Nevertheless it's one the last Bonnies built at the Hinkley factory in England. I am planning on keeping it until I can ride it no longer and then giving it to my son. Triumph Bonnevilles are now made in Thailand. The factory can be seen on the journey from Pattaya to Bangkok. I was absolutely amazed when I first saw it in 2015.
  2. I know this song has been done to death in Pattaya by so many bar bands, but the line before the guitar solo kicks in, "You can check you, but you can never leave" rings oh so true about Pattaya for me every time I hear it.
  3. I got my Bonnie back on the road last weekend. Looking forward to the UK weather getting better so I can take it up to north Wales for the day.
  4. By Julian Cope, ex singer of late 70s and early 80s bands Teardrop Explodes and Echo and The Bunnymen. He's a brilliant writer and it's an absolutely fantastic read. I know the cover looks a bit weird and so is much of the content. I picked it up second hand from Amazon for little more than a quid. One of his other books, KrautRockSampler, is now selling second hand for £100. As much as I'd like to read that too, it won't be anytime in the near future unfortunately.
  5. I bought A True Friend Of China about four years ago shortly after it was published. I contacted Andrew by email and met him in a cafe to pick up the book from him in person. Jack Jones was quite a character. I enjoyed reading Woman of Bangkok much more than more recent writings about the nightlife in LOS.
  6. This must be the same Jack Reynolds who wrote Woman of Bangkok. If so, I didn't know that he'd written other books. Please tell us more about this book.
  7. Black Grape at the Tramshed, Cardiff, last night. Not the best photo I've ever taken The support band were quite good but I was thinking the 90s is a hard act to follow. In the name of The Father and The Holy Ghost. Why is there always somebody six inches taller me standing right in front of me at gigs? Jesus was a black man. No Jesus is Batman. Say no more. E used to be a raver. Now E's a vaper. It all got a bit 1970s Rock God at the end. It was all over by 10 in time for Shaun's beauty sleep. Three pints of lager and I was home by 11. Great gig though.
  8. I read this a couple of years ago. It makes Keith Richards seem like choir boy, which he actually was at one time. The story of The Mondays playing in Glastonbury in 1990 is absolutely mind blowing.
  9. I know. I've seen stuff on YouTube and they do look a bit ridiculous but I never saw them back in the day and regret it now.
  10. Nice one. I want to see the Happy Mondays too if I get a chance. They were at Victorious Festival in Plymouth last summer but I couldn't make it down there. Hope I get a chance before it's too late.
  11. Just wanted to say that I'm going to see Black Grape with Shaun Ryder in the Tramshed in Cardiff in about three hours from now.
  12. Sorry the 15th July is no good to me. I don't arrive until the 22nd. I wish I'd mentioned that in my post now. Anytime from 23rd of July would be good for me.
  13. Would anybody like to predict what they think the exchange rate for the GBP in July which is when I have my annual monthly stay in Pattaya. Any opinions will be welcomed.
  14. Back on the forum for the first time this year.
  15. Finally found a place they could never reach Sipping singha beer on Pattaya Beach Singha beer don't ask no questions Singha beer don't tell no lies Singha beer don't ask no questions Singha beer don't tell no lies There's a guy next to me won't tell me his name Buy's me mekong whiskey just the same Singha beer don't ask no questions Singha beer don't tell no lies Singha beer don't ask no questions Singha beer don't tell no lies I'm just a wally Hanging out on Pattaya Beach I'm just a wally Hanging out on Pattaya Beach Met a girl said she's really going to blow my mind She say's she don't mean sex and I say alright Turns out she's a bloke, tries to give me head I have to run out screaming to the street instead She's just a wally Hanging out on Pattaya Beach I'm just a wally Hanging out on Pattaya Beach Singha beer don't ask no questions Singha beer don't tell no lies... In the house of the gods Where no mongrels preach I watched the sun going down On Pattaya Beach I'm just a wally Hanging out on Pattaya Beach I'm just a wall Hanging out on Pattaya Beach
  16. This one needs to be more well known.
  17. I finished this before the Nick Kent book. Very enjoyable.
  18. I picked this up dirt cheap from Amazon. I'm only about a quarter of the way through. I don't want to put it down, I'm enjoying it so much. Nick Kent was a music journo for the New Musical Express in the 70s. Among other highlights are meeting the Stones at an early gig in Sophia Gardens it Cardiff, seeing Iggy Pop in London in 1972, touring with Led Zep and interviewing David Bowie. I know he was involved with Punk too and I think he got attacked by Sid Vicious with a bike chain, but I haven't got to that bit yet. Nick Kent is also a brilliant writer. I've already ordered another of his work, The Dark Stuff, which a collection of stuff written by him.
  19. I've listened to the audiobook and would recommend it. This guy is a thought provoking writer. He makes a lot of sense, but not in a conventional way.
  20. Christmas is so different now the kids are older. By that I mean not so good. Get the duties done today and then I'm having a real party at my house on Boxing Day.
