  1. Right off out to the doctor for a full blood count test.
  2. No doubt you were a baby when you first came lol....no doubt you must have many stories so let's hope you add some content.
  3. Yes i read that. as long as she has a NI number she can transfer some of their allowance; as you say not much about £228 a year I read this morning.
  4. Just found out I will be receiving a tax refund of £1100, nice one. I have been paying basic rate tax for a while now so it is nice to see the money come back in a lump sum.
  5. Just looked and I bought 500 sheets not 100 but it was convenient to pick the paper up at the same time as the printer. It is also HP paper although that is not necessarily saying it is superior. I am not going to pay monthly or other period of time for ink, I really don't use that much. I only use for home needs, print out e tickets etc. I have just spent a few hours doing all that I needed to do after recently moving into a new flat, I doubt I will turn on the printer for a week or two. I didn't pay the £12.99 for an extended warranty. I will also look for discounted inks for the printer or just buy a new one when the ink runs low.
  6. Just been talking with HMRC and finally sorted out my tax code, I have been paying basic rate (20 percent) on my salary for the last 11 weeks. Will get a refund but through my pay packet. Also signed up to a Tesco Club card and a Boots card, just about to apply for my council tax (with 25 percent discount as I am single occupant) and also will be honest and apply for a TV licence. Was going for a walk along the Grand Union canal but all this paperwork has collared my time. Think I will just add some meat to my slow cooker and prepare a Beefsteak (Bistek) Tagalog for later tonight.
  7. Just bought my printer, a basic home device HP Envy 4527, got a deal in Currys for £35 with £3.99 for a 100 sheets of printer paper. The girl serving me offered me a deal on ink replacements but at £45,99 I asked the question, 'how can the ink replacement be more expensive than the whole bloody printer'. Now she explained that the ink replacements may have a little more ink than the originals in the printer but come on, this is crazy. I suggested I would just throw out the printer and buy a new one, she says 'that is what I would suggest sir'...
  8. Off out to pick up a new printer, so many things to print out from flight tickets to council tax info. Pop back in later.
  9. Thanks for the info, I do agree that Switzerland is a beautiful country. I was there a few years ago staying with a good friend in Zug near Zurich. He too has a beautiful house overlooking Zug, his next door neighbour is Kimi Raikkonen. Google Kimi's house and an aerial photo will show my mate's house. Lovely part of the world. Did a 12 hour first class train ride into Lucerne and then Italy and back, breath taking scenery. You are a lucky man to be living there.
  10. Apologies for not posting a pic of my faggots and peas but might offend some people...............
  11. He couldn't do it for Chelsea but it always happens when former players return to the Bridge. Still, 2 good teams will be in the top 4 at the end of the season I expect.
  12. Well I was chatting with a mate about going for a beer (first in a week) but concerned the pub I was going to might be closed as I saw some shutters being put up earlier in the week. Well of course it was closed when I got there, shut down it seems (another casualty) and all staff moved to the De Burgh Arms next to West Drayton station. I thought no problem, there is a nice pub I remember visiting back 30 years ago on the canal that should be open, just 150 meters away. Unfortunately it is now a gastro bar/restaurant called the Canal Cottages and I arrived to see a wedding party having their photos taken, skirted passed them to the pub (sorry I mean bar) and looked aghast as I saw no hand pumps but these awful cream flow taps. Bloody hell no real beer just ice cold lager and ugly beer at freezing temperatures. Walked out and headed home to get the reserves out so I have now polished off a 500 ml Tribute Ale and am presently on the Owd Roger (7.4 PC) and as TS and TA say this could get messy.
  13. Enjoying retirement is what it is all about, sounds like a great day
  14. Haven't had a drink since last Saturday but will be popping out to the Paddington Packet Boat for a few beers later (near the Grand Union canal in Yiewsley, West Drayton), I did see some wooden paneling up on the windows last week (hope temporary) so if not open I have these two babies waiting for me in the fridge.
  15. Just booked myself a flight ticket to Thailand for end of November, booked Emirates via their website for £517 Well happy..............
  16. Thanks for that. I have now booked my flight outbound from Don Muang on Air Asia, an inclusive transport option via Si Thamarat and the respective piers, all part of the deal which for 3 of us was about a third of the cost of the return leg on Bangkok Airways. I will be with family so laid back is good for me, I will of course hop up on a few stools in bars but playing daddy will be high on the agenda during our stay. I have heard of the Ark bar and if it is near our hotel then I am sure I will make a visit.
  17. I have booked Bangkok Airways back from Koh Samui but haven't booked the arrival flight into the island yet. May book Air Asia just to experience the journey and also as I may be staying near Don Muang the night before departure on 08 Dec,
  18. Just looked at the airfares, they are criminal...............
  19. Just booked a sea-view room for 08 -15 December so see you there.
  20. What type of room have you booked?
  21. I will be visiting Thailand in early December and would like to go to Koh Samui as I have never been there in all the time I stayed in Thailand. I hear it is a bit like Marmite, you either love it or hate it but I want to have a look for myself. My criteria is a family friendly hotel with kids facilities, a pool is essential and a beach close by. I would like to visit the bar scene for entertainment with family and would like some restaurants nearby. I don't know which beach is best but I only have heard of Chaweng or Lamai, others I am not aware of. Hotel can be up to 3500 baht a night. Appreciate any thoughts guys........
  22. Just realised I missed the Liverpool v Chelsea game on the TV, good result though for my blues.
