  1. Nah, just copied it from where it originally appeared. It's not on my computer.

  3. Pretty good chance it wouldn't be navy blue.
  4. Fifty Shades of Black, someone should make it into a movie.

  6. Dozens got coronavirus from high-intensity workouts in gyms. The CDC warns that masks, better ventilation are a must. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2021/02/25/gyms-coronavirus-masks-cdc-ventilation/
  7. If you need to know about RacCS203. Abstract Among the many questions unanswered for the COVID-19 pandemic are the origin of SARS-CoV-2 and the potential role of intermediate animal host(s) in the early animal-to-human transmission. The discovery of RaTG13 bat coronavirus in China suggested a high probability of a bat origin. Here we report molecular and serological evidence of SARS-CoV-2 related coronaviruses (SC2r-CoVs) actively circulating in bats in Southeast Asia. Whole genome sequences were obtained from five independent bats (Rhinolophus acuminatus) in a Thai cave yielding a single isolate (named RacCS203) which is most related to the RmYN02 isolate found in Rhinolophus malayanus in Yunnan, China. SARS-CoV-2 neutralizing antibodies were also detected in bats of the same colony and in a pangolin at a wildlife checkpoint in Southern Thailand. Antisera raised against the receptor binding domain (RBD) of RmYN02 was able to cross-neutralize SARS-CoV-2 despite the fact that the RBD of RacCS203 or RmYN02 failed to bind ACE2. Although the origin of the virus remains unresolved, our study extended the geographic distribution of genetically diverse SC2r-CoVs from Japan and China to Thailand over a 4800-km range. Cross-border surveillance is urgently needed to find the immediate progenitor virus of SARS-CoV-2. https://www.nature.com/articles/s41467-021-21240-1
  8. If their name is in red does it mean they have the clap? Isn't there a Thai superstition about writing you name in red. Means you're going to die soon.
  9. Five minutes or so of this just now. Is this the new stability?
  10. And when they find out he's a carp with legs...
  11. Melbourne, Victoria. The government is to trial robots for monitoring guests in quarantine hotels.
  12. Years ago I worked with a physicist who claimed that there was a finite probability that all the atoms in one solid object could align with the space between atoms in another object and that they could pass through each other. He used to drive like it was an everyday occurrence.
  13. Fan blade breaks. Broken blade exits through front of engine slicing through nose ring. Nose ring separated from cowling. Rest of cowling falls off. Blade and a half missing.
  14. An air purifier is a really expensive way to buy a fan, a HEPA filter and a box. The fan sits in the box, draws air in through the filter and then blows it back out again. However, a while back I looked around and saw that the surfaces I had dusted a couple of years ago had dust on them again. I thought an air purifier might be the solution. For the Boxing day sales I noticed that a nearby electrical store had Samsung air purifiers 20% off. So I got a couple. Set one up in the bedroom, switched it on and after a minute or so it settled down and the particulate display for PM10, PM2.5 and PM1 all read 5 micrograms per cubic metre, pretty good air quality. (I later read the manual and the display goes from 5-999 micrograms per cubic metre.) In fact the display almost always read 5 and I thought the detector might be faulty until a couple of weeks ago when a wind shift brought in smoke from a bushfire. The the display read over 300. The model I have is a Samsung AX5500, meant to be good for areas up to 60 square metres. The do have a larger one for areas up to 90 square metres. Ah, I do miss Pattaya and the black feathers that used to form on the trailing edge of the ceiling fan. Clean them off and a couple of weeks later they were back. As I said at the start, an air purifier is basically a fan, a filter and a box. After that comes the bells and whistles. Work out what area you want to cover. Also check the cost of replacement filters. Samsung suggest that using the purifier 24 hours per day filters should last 6-12 months. Guess it depends how dirty the air is.
  15. More likely a bad day for P&W slightly less than reliable dependable engines. Both incidents involved P&W engines.

  17. Part of being fearless is to continually say how fearless you are. Otherwise you might stop believing it. The Bali braveheart was the same.
  18. This is your captain speaking. Due to the cold weather we have turned on extra heating. This can be observed on the right-hand side of the aircraft.
  19. I'd say one part is TFOA (things falling off aircraft) the other is "oh shit!".
  20. The clue was the A330 landing at the beginning of the video. The incident happened at Frankfurt, see diagram below. Wake turbulence from the A330 presented as a tailwind to the B737 reducing airspeed below safe takeoff airspeed. So the crew lowered the nose and waited until they had regained the appropriate airspeed then made a safe takeoff. ATC cleared the B737 too early.
