  1. Now I know why they've removed the trees, and it wasn't to replace them with smaller trees. Pattaya City Council urges mayor to take good care of palm trees after removing them from Pattaya beach ... It is reported that after all the trees are gone, the city will move on to resize the pavement to allow more space for vehicles and traffic and then plant further trees in the future. At this time Pattaya Beach road will be expanded only to Soi Four and not the entire length of the beach, according to city officials, citing concerns from environmental groups. The project will also take place one small section at a time, according to the Pattaya mayor, to avoid any traffic delays or issues.
  2. I believe the 45 day stamp was to start 1 October. Still has to be published in the Royal Gazette to be official.
  3. I've been doing the same the last couple of months. Every time the $ passed a whole number increase (35, 36, 37) I'd click on the "I'll take some more baht please" button. The great exchange rate has lessened the pain of watching my investments drop. Do you have plans for coming back to Thailand to spend your accumulation of baht?
  4. There's a post on PT announcing his passing on 12 December, 2013. Another post in October had the quote from FB, "His battle with cancer is finally coming to an end". RIP LVP
  5. Hope you don't get in trouble for drawing on the wall.
  6. Looks like no more kite events for Pattaya. According to the Deputy Major "kites might ruin the beautiful scenery and cause disorder". How these leaders can spout such nonsense and keep a straight face is beyond me. Pattaya deputy mayor warns beach vendors of placing kites on beach Pattaya Deputy Mayor Wuthisak Rermkijakarn forbade beach vendors from placing kites on the beach, saying the kites were damaging the beautiful scenery. The deputy visited Pattaya Beach at 10 A.M. yesterday, September 20th, to inspect the beach and greet beachgoers and vendors from the Dusit Thani intersection down to Central Pattaya. During the trip, Wuthisak asked for cooperation from the beach vendors to refrain from placing their stalls and kites on the beach, citing that the stalls and kites might ruin the beautiful scenery and cause disorder. Additionally, vendors must be 1-2 meters apart, not cook on the beach, and not rent their space to others. “Vendors must comply with the rules to create a good first impression for visitors coming to enjoy the festivals,” Wuthisak told The Pattaya News.
  7. Think something definitely got lost in the translation. And yes, they're probably telling you to use the 2nd Rd side of Soi 15 to get to the entrance. Picture from this morning. The Grey car is exiting Soi Piss Alley which connects with Soi Diana. It's a narrow alley with more traffic than usual due to the construction. Vehicles coming from different directions will have to slow down to a crawl to pass each other and avoid knocking each other's wing mirrors off. That's why I recommended in a previous post using the kokotel road if coming from the Buakhao side. Street View is a great resource for virtually navigating the sois to get the lay of the land.
  8. From the 2nd Rd side, use Soi 15 to the entrance. If coming from the Buakhao side I would suggest the easier route would be the road from Buakhao to Soi 15 that passes kokotel hotel. This is what the entrance to that road from the Buakhao side looks like.
  9. Currently the answer is yes. I expect you will be able to for several weeks to come while they work on the section from the Grand entrance to Buakhao as they are leaving vehicle access open to the west.
  10. ^^^ Using the above location info and Street View (link) found these two places across from VN Residence 3. Water Park By Pattaya Sunny Rentals Butterfly Garden Boutique Residences
  11. A day later and Soi 15 is barricaded to all but foot traffic east of the Grand entrance. The Grand entrance is still accessible on the west side of the construction. You can get to Buakhao from Soi 15 via Soi Piss to Soi Dianna, or via the road to ko ko tel.
  12. Link below to posts with pics from Sunday and today of the ongoing road works construction. Probably not a problem if you're using two feet or two wheels to get around, but vehicle access may be problematic in the coming weeks if not days.
  13. Adam has restarted his monthly crawls. Next one after tomorrow is 5 Oct when the group heads down to Ban Chang. BTW, he just celebrated his 50th b'day yesterday.
  14. Suggest getting a small group together (say max 10 which is what a baht bus can accommodate), pick a GC to meet at and then let the group decide where to go next. Side Note: Honey Lounge does a weekly GC crawl on Saturdays. No advance signup required, just show up at 3pm. Side Note 2: Adam, owner of Cherry Bar is organizing a crawl for tomorrow (21 Sept) leaving his bar at 8pm. Plan is to hit the clubs on Soi Bong Koch and Soi Pothole. Stop in at his bar before hand to let him know if you'll be attending. List of Pattaya gentlemen clubs and misc BJ/ST places currently included on the above map. There is also a separate tab that has a history of the updates to the map. If you know of new/renamed or closed bars, let me know so I can update the maps. If you can provide the GPS location and a pic, even better.
  15. Soi 15 still open all the way through to vehicle traffic as of this morning.
  16. Some interesting visuals an AI came up with for Stairway To Heaven.
  17. Probably due to a very low water content they won't freeze hard. Note in this video when she takes them out of the freezer they're still pliable.
  18. A simple solution would be to put in a concrete raceway to the sea at the points that suffer the worst erosion. They could be kept shallow enough so easy to walk across when dry. Just need a wide and easy path for the storm runoff to get to the sea so the surrounding beach is left intact.
