Time for dinner at the Mun river. After a quick search on the net our choice fell on the Chomjan Bar & Restaurant.

Next stop Wat Thung Si Muang. A small wooden temple, almost falling apart. No more than 5 people are allowed at one time to enter it. Not much to see inside other than bird droppings and some small buddha figurines.

We both like the temple very much.

Day 2: the buffalows were having breakfast already. We stayed last night at a new resort belonging to a small water park. Simple bungalows, not cheap at 600 Bt without breakfast. The matress felt like made from concrete. The journey to Ubon via road 24 was not exiting, ricefields everywhere, everything looked the same. Will take a different route on the way back. After checking in the hotel and a qick shower we headed to the Wat Phra That Nong Bua. Looked different from all the other temples.

Day 1: stop in Chaiyaphum to visit famliy of Mrs. CO: A BBQ was planned for the evening, of course we had to buy some seafood in Pattaya for the village and the rest of Chaiyaphum 🙄 Preparation has started. The boys brought their catch of the day to the table: eel First batch: The kids were eating already.....

The headlights of my 10yo Mazda 2 went yellow and blind over the years. Tried the toothpaste polishing, which left me with 2 limp arms and 2 blind headlights. There are some sprays on the market but I read that you could use Baygon cockroach spray as well. Tried this, the result lasted a day or so. When replacing a bulb I enquired about new complete sets of headlights and was quoted 6400 Baht for the pair. As alternativ they offered me to polish the plastic for 800 which would be good for 6 month or so. Thought they would come up with the toothpaste method, but they sanded them down first and then poured some of this restoration liquid into an evaporator (with some water added, I believe). After sanding I thought, now the lights will be beyond repair, but when vaping the stuff at a close distance, they turned magically clear. Looks like new. If this last for a while than this is a good /cheaper alternative for replacing the hole lights, as new lights would become blind after a few years again.

Had a busy last year.....6 month China, then Turkey vacation, 2 weeks mum, Rayong job, 11 days mum for X-mas....nothing of interest to the board. Now planned a road trip to Ubon Ratchathani which got delayed due to a flu I picked up on the plane. This should result in some nice pics.

Had a project near Rayong, so spend some weekends in Laem Mae Phim. There is small beach named Ao Khai, which has very few visitors. The locals tend to be at the huge Mae Phim beach. There are 3 or 4 hotels with a few sun loungers and a simple restaurant as well. They are keeping the beach spotless. Sand is like powder, the water clear and not a single rock or pebble in the water. A dream to swim in and as the slope is gentle, non swimmers can have a good time there as well. We had some drinks and snacks in the simple restaurant, I think their sun chairs/umbrella were free of charge or very cheap. From Pattaya it is a 2 hours drive. Can't wait to get back there. Beware: on my second visit I got bitten by sandflies.....so bring some mosquito repellent.

Not every dealer will give you easily a discount. Nissan is taking of a wopping 80k off a X-trail without asking but Honda cars are selling like hotcakes and there will be a strong NO when you ask for a cash discount, after the sales staff listed all the free extras. But there is still some room, if you come up with the right point, such as an upcoming motor show (there are 2 each year in BKK), where cash discounts of 40k are common for a middle class car. In my case the Honda sales manager phoned his boss when I mentioned the December motorshow and was offered a 30k discount if I signed the same day.

On TV forum is a recent report about the extension where the OP had a lengthy chat with one of the immi-officer. He didn't mention which office it was on purpose, as every office might do it differently. One thing was, that even those who are doing the 1 year extension before 1st of March, will have keep more than 800k in the bank for the coming 3 month (or 400k for married or the combination). Otherwise the next extension won't be granted. To proof this, one needs to show a bank statement for 12 month at the next extension. It might take the bank several days to produce such a statement, so better talk to your bank ahead of time. Went to Jomtien today to apply for my retirement extension and the lady there confirmed that I will have to keep my 800k for 3 month longer. Furthermore the pick-up time for the passport in the morning (10-11am) is currently cancelled (the time on the sign at desk 8 was crossed out), so only pick up time is 2-3 pm.
