Back in the day landing in Kai Tak was a thrill. If I recall correctly, pilots used to line up a hill in the background, checkerboard hill or something like that, just to be able to make it. Almost as good was walking to the city near there and seeing those 747s so low to the ground over the built-up city.

Who do you like or rather who are ok in your opinion?

Yeah, the vast majority are like that. It reminds me of people that list Facebook profiles as CEO of XYZ and it turns out they are self-employed. There may be good YTbers in Pattaya but those I have sampled on YT remind me of Stickman in the sense that Thailand didn't exist until he found it. I just laugh when I watch some of them rave about Pad Thai, Khao Soi, Masaman, etc., as if they are sharing these hidden secrets of Thailand with the world ... what a bunch of self-absorbed dumbasses. My favorite to date is a guy who focuses on northern Thailand and notes that Chiang Mai is named after the national animal of Thailand. Yes, he is that stupid. He thinks Chiang is a derivative of Chang. A minute search on google would have shown him that Chiang Mai is a derivative of a Chinese phrase and just means new city.

That one peaked my curiosity also. I checked and it has a whopping 342 Subscribers; Pattaya Influencer and celebrity indeed.

It's like the oblivious jerks face down into their phones expecting you to watch out for them. I've bounced into a few that have dropped their phones on contact with a few screaming about how expensive their phones were and how lucky I am that I don't have to pay for repairing any damage. Really? That just ain't happening bozo. Ybers flexing those 2 - 3 foot sticks all around in front of them are just that much worse.

Sure there is some useful information to be gleaned from current videos showing the lay of the land at that moment. Likewise interviews with subject matter experts is useful. But my observations are that the vast majority of YTers are about getting their face on the internet and pretending to be know something. The most egregious ones to me are the beggers and those that claim that they are doing the Ytubing to help people. I have never met Phil and certainly don't know him and would never offer him or anyone else on advice about how to run their business but he's going down a slippery slope in encouraging these nonces at the risk of alienating other customers.

I hope the Youtubing is a fad. My take is that it's reasonable for someone like the Le Pub owner to test the water to see if YT is a net gain for his business, especially for him since he seems to be a Yber himself, but I suspect it's a little like whether a bar owner allows smoking in his place (yeah, I know it's technically not permitted in Thailand). Some will be all for it and others hate it as their reason for being in a bar is seldom to be on camera and the internet. Any way, good luck to him but I'm with the crowd that would avoid these pseudo celebrities fawning all over themselves for no reason.

Good post. I don't know much about many of those examples, however, the one I see on Facebook that amazes me the most is the vitriol about Nightwish and particularly Bryan Flowers. Maybe that's a separate thread and verbotten here since Nightwish or BFor some combination thereof is an owner of this forum.

Pardon for asking on this thread, and apologies if asked and answered elsewhere but I have this highlighted message at the top of my screen when I log into the forum ... Another fracking good one from that era is the rebooted Battlestar Gallactica. That's where I got my Asian bug, watching at the time a young Grace 'Boomer' Park who later did a tour on Hawaii 5-0.

I've never met the Buzzin guy and I cannot disagree but there does also seem to be some vendetta element between the two sides. As someone posted earlier in this thread, the Buzzin guy appears to be in a Pattaya downward spiral.

Whatever they have against the guy, they are pretty crude about it. Some of it seems to be about cheating a charity but a lot of it seems to be related to charging bars for bringing by people on bar crawls.

So the Buzzin Pattaya guy then.
