  1. Chicken, caramelised onion and mayo roll
  2. I have a rather nice bottle of single malt, that I enjoyed a small glass of. Unfortunately, even a small glass gives me a hangover from hell, and so the bottle sits forlorn on the shelf...
  3. Breaded chicken ...forgot to add salt to the flour 😞 ..., with mushroom gravy, spiced roast spuds and honey glazed veg
  4. Agreed. I've been back for 6 weeks ish, and my heating bill has exceeded my highest months aircon bill by almost double. I've been in long trousers and a sweatshirt for all that time, and going for a walk has needed a fleece and occasionally a wooly hat. As for the boat... it's looking lonely on it's mooring, either bouncing violently in the wind, or getting rained on. I haven't been out to it in a month. Our mooring is only 100m off shore, so easy to check... general rule of thumb is if we can see the water line, she ain't sinking!

Well, if you scored 262 in 20 overs, you really wouldn't expect to lose with almost 2 overs to go.... would you?
  6. 😞 Good game though, even for a non fan like me
  7. Shame. The team in blue deserved that goal.
  8. Well.... when the team in red went 3 - 0 up, I almost switched off....
  9. Steak and mushroom casserole, honey glazed carrots and leaks
  10. First once since I've been home. Blooming good, even if my mouth is saying possibly too much paste...
  11. Just suffered minor burning on left hand from an exploding toasted cheese sandwich....
  12. In theory it's spring, yes. As to whether it gets better from here on, we can only hope so! Apparently it's been this wet and miserable all winter...
  13. "Deadly" Derek Underwood https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/cricket/68818400
  14. I've been back nearly 4 weeks. It's rained on every day bar 3. This morning yet another gale along the Solent. I'm supposedly not returning to Thailand until October, but last Friday's miserable weather had me looking at flights for next week....
  15. That's always been the case in the condos I've rented. I've always rented through the juristic office in the complex. Move in, pay months rent and a month's deposit. On moving out, the condo management read the meters, and check condition of the condo. My deposit has always been returned, less the electricity (in my case last March was at 6.5b per unit) and water, and a cleanaing charge. Presumably if there was any damage we would argue over the cost 😀 I make sure the office know at least a week in advance of when I am leaving, and remind them regularly in the last week. During my stay I'm issued with a monthly government bill for electricity used, and pay that at a 7-11. This bill is given to me by the management office, but is an official government slip. Obviously if I'm moving out on the 20th, and the government bill doesn't come until the 28th, keeping money from my deposit means the management can pay the bill on my/the owners behalf when it arrives. I'm happy for them to take the required amount from my deposit... means I don't have to have funds available on the last day of my trip
  16. At a Glasgow Pub Quiz, the final question to win £1000 pounds is: "Take That's first Album had a four word title, the first two words were, "Take That, what were the second two?" After a lengthy silence a wee Glesga man stands up and says.." was it.. Ya Bastard?"
  17. You might say so.... we had a tidal surge 3 nights ago combined with spring tides... instead of the predicted 5.5m high tide, it hit about 6.3.... unfortunately our sea defences are only 6.2m... so many flooded fields and properties. My neighbouring sailing club's carpark/boat park is currently 8' under, with the sea defences now doing a damn good job of keeping the water in. There is an ancient but well serviced sluice gate that the original farmers used to drain the marshes that are now car park... except the handle is 5' under and no one can find it... Fortunately apart from a few low flying pebbles, I got off unscathed.
