  1. Let's hope not because the 97 Asian Financial Crisis was more than serious. That dang George Soros dude.................
  2. a true unsolved mystery. Many painted it as he was whacked out from opioid painkillers when he fell (ankle injury in sky diving accident) but many others, including myself saw him 30 minutes prior on soi 15 as the Super Bowl ended and he looked just fine. Something just doesn't and never will add up there. And you are right, very sad. A legend lost.
  3. hoping INTENSELY that April 21, 2019 is not a repeat of Bali, Oct 12, 2002 and sporting brothers from HK and there families visiting Sri Lanka are safe.

Of course I will be rooting for Tiger. But if Brent Koepka wins I wonder if people will finally start to notice him. I mean it would only make 3 out of last 4 Majors the kid has won?

Going to be a heck of moving day Saturday. The leaders will be teeing off in much tougher conditions than the chasers so we could be looking at a Sunday with a record number of guys within 5 shots of the lead.

Dustin Johnson and Jordan Speith have to be considered as good picks.
  7. Looks like it is going to be a heck of a party. Enjoy!
  8. The advent of social media and smart phones has indeed changed the game but anyone who thinks for a nano second that humans don't still have the innate hard wiring for face to face social engagement in group settings are just flat out being deceived. The parameters of the game are indeed changing, but the game remains. Don't be fooled.😎
  9. Mentioning why their kids are in RorDor is mentioning it. 70% of the population in Bangkok come from the villages or are worst first generation Bangokians. A child born into lower spheres of the socioeconomic spectrum of the villages have way more options today than they did 10 years ago. Still eons to go compared to many places more advanced but trending in right direction and picking up speed. I know it is difficult to accept Central is in Pattaya now for some, but reality is, it is and nothing is going to change that. The internet gives a rural kid born without indoor plumbing literally access to millions more bits of information and what is out there and available. I would bet the ranch you go to any rural village and ask a 12 year old kid what they want to do for a living when they grow up 90% would answer: Football Player, Tech, Fashion, Gaming, blogger, pilot, doctor, ganjaentrepeneur, hospitality etc etc... long long before they would say I want to be a soldier. Just saying..the old Bangkok argument is as hollow and tired as Hillary's political career. And once this last batch of dinosaurs gets put out to pasture for good and kids get properly educated, dare I say it their chances of reaching their dreams will sky rocket.
  10. Been in Thailand for many moons, been married to a thai for 17 years. Have 100's of Thai's in my circle from all walks of life with kids..never met a one who indicated such a career as being sought after or top of heep. A way out of poverty yeah, but there are now more ways out of poverty than ever in Thailand. I think the dramatic increase in RorDor program over past decade at all walks of life is a clear indication that a career in military anyway is far far from a sought after choice of but a very few small part of population. RorDor is polar opposite of seeking a career. Also a lot of cases being brought forward to eliminate mandatory conscription for non RorDor program graduates or non monks. That is not to say, like many countries a military or law enforcement career can not be a great choice if done for right reasons.
  11. Whatever happened to that original Superduperstar or so they say girl Bow from the early days. Might of been most talked about girl in history or forums and had that stunning girl next door look. And she just suddenly vanished from all convo's one day, never to be heard from again. Just a reference to becoming pregnant, but never any real elaboration. Almost like it was some sort of state secret or something. (Was nice to take a walk back in vicarious times earlier in this thread where one of her promo pictures was posted, but surprised none of the old regulars who are posting here even mentioned a word of her)
  12. whew! Glad we cleared that up. Don't know the gentleman in question, but reading some of the antidotes here sounds like your comparative reference might be an insult to leeches!😃
  13. Not sure if I am mis interpreting your statement, but what has Larry ever done to you that you would refer to him with a label as derogatory as is the term leech in the context you paint?
  14. Here he is on January 25, 2019, @ bus stop on Sukhumvit near Nana BTS at 7:00 AM. Poor ole geezer looks like he had a rough night!
  15. Best forum blogger in the history of forum bloggers. The dude should of been published!
  16. @Jambo...great shots but the pictorial down memory lane won't be complete without some pictures from the Secret's Yacht and maybe one or two from the Villa.
  17. Did any minority shareholders ever see any return on investment via dividend distribution or was the only way to recoup the outlay to find a new fish on the hook to buy one's "shares"?
  18. Not now, but last night after some proper medicating decided to take a trip back in time and chill to 3 of my all time favorites that I rarely hear anymore.. Jeff Beck - Freeway Jam, Traffic - Low Spark Over the High Heel Boys and Led Zepplin - Communication Breakdown
  19. Yep...not there yet but on the rise. Morning rush hour might push it over the mark. Geez and to think there is still a nice breeze which normally helps the situation. Hate to think what it might be like should the air become still.
  20. Been sitting out on my beloved deck since 4:45AM. Was a nice breeze with some crispness in the air which made me think, maybe, just maybe this will be a blue sky day which seem to suddenly be getting rarer and rarer. But, no, now that the sun is rising I look on the horizon and this might be the smoggiest day in BKG history. Here is to hoping I am wrong.
  21. Also, @ThaiSpice please, to compare China and USA when it comes to environmental practices is not only insane, but ignorant. You forget one little detail, that being the the USA is a REPUBLIC, not a UNION, like the EU. Each State sets their own standards, the federal standard is just a minimum. Most States standards are significantly different than the Federal Standard and most exceed the Paris Climate Treaty Standards. And gee,...of course the USA emits more greenhouse gases, than Belgium or France. It's GDP is humongously bigger. These stats of total emmissions are a farce. How about measuring them as ratio to GNP. (NOTE, there is a difference between GNP and GDP) Yep on a per capita population basis we use more energy than anyone, but hey, again, it is related as much to GNP as waste. All the stats you posted above is TARGETS, not actual results. Not a single EU G20 country reached their targets in total emissions last year. The countries that pound there chest the most about the Paris Climate Treaty are ironically the countries that are missing the targets by the greatest amounts. What is the old saying.....WALK THE TALK.....members or the Paris Climate Treaty are trying and doing some great things, and in "theory" it is beautiful. But they are not getting the results they are talking! Can give you a hall pass on the ignorance of not knowing the how a Republic functions from a legislative point of view, but the fact you allege to of been in CHINA and would still make such an inference is just mind boggling? I know some of the below headlines might not fit the MSM brainwashing job you have boughten into. I sure hope lil boy Macron can get a lid on the pot, cuz it looks like you guys are gonna miss your 2019 targets again just by the emissions going on from burning Paris down to revolt against environmental taxes.....jeez, talk about irony off the charts. https://www.forbes.com/sites/simonlack/2018/08/23/guess-whos-most-effective-at-combating-global-warming/#2e766c745cdb https://www.eesi.org/articles/view/u.s.-leads-in-greenhouse-gas-reductions-but-some-states-are-falling-behind https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2018/dec/05/brutal-news-global-carbon-emissions-jump-to-all-time-high-in-2018
  22. Well there you go...Thailand does indeed have the same as WHO at safe is anything below 50ppm.
  23. Yes...Rogan might be the best interviewer out there right now! Just my opinion. Saw this the other day and have to say it made me do some research on DMT and would not rule a future experience out of realm of possibility. Here is another poignant discussion by Rogan and Bari Weiss with regards to a very current event. I think she nails the current societal problem that social media, a connected world, and ability to powerfully and quickly spread information to millions of people, right info or wrong info, when she says, "It is an erasure of individuality" somewhere in middle of the talk, and than touches the point again in the last sentences of the interview. Personally, listening to these two, I think they should run in 2020 as CO PRESIDENTS. One thing is for certain, 85% of all of us, (Seppos) anyway are truly centralists....maybe 10 degrees to the right on some issues and 10 degrees to the left on others.
  24. No,.... more like biting off more than you could chew and having the charisma to make your team believe you could make it happen even though all signs pointed to disaster in the making weeks out from the event. The FYRE app itself was a big winner, or would of been. The foray into the music festival business and desire to attach to celebrity doomed the foundation of the Fyre business before it could scale. (The app was going to be the UBER of talent booking) Now his scam when out on bail, yeah, that was a scam from the get go.
