  1. I have been in the UK for over two years now and sadly I have yet to have a proper Indian meal. Maybe I have not been to many restaurants here, but the ones I have been to have been very bland and tasteless. I have had much better in Sydney (even in the food courts there) and in the USA. I have noticed that in many of the Indian restaurants, they precook the meat and just toss it in the cooking sauce when a customer orders it. I am of Indian origin so may I have been spoiled by home cooking.
  2. This looks absolutely delicious 🙂 May I ask where this restaurant is?
  3. Any suggestions on how to maintain a US phone number while living in Thailand? I heard that MagicJack is one way.
  4. May I ask the name and location of this restaurant? Food looks good!
  5. Can you please let us know where this food place is located? Thank you in advance.
  6. For our very kind photo reporters, thank you for the updates. I am hoping that the road construction noise does not disturb one's sleep - I am booked to stay at the Dynasty Inn in Soi 13. It looks like the section of second road near the hotel is still not complete. Would any of you know what time the work starts and ends? Thank you in advance.
  7. Judging by all the flooding recently, I am wondering if those water pumps near the Beer Garden are actually effective.
  8. Their rates for December are Bht1600/night vs the Dynasty (Bht1280/night). So I will be staying at the Dynasty this December. Have stayed at both and each has its pros and cons. Soi13 is a highly under rated street. There are hardly any bars in it so one can have a decent night's sleep. I used to stay at the Haven but sadly it is no more. Ah, the memories from way back then, when it was only the AA hotel, The Lek and the little hotel across the road from the Haven were the only hotels in that soi.
  9. I found that it is easier to use DTAC since you can top up at a 7/11. For AIS, you can top up at Family Mart. Since there are more 7/11's, I will get a DTAC SIM when I am in Thailand in December.
  10. What is going to replace those clubs?
  11. Is the chicken home made or from Lidl 🙂
  12. For some reason I am unable to see the pics that you post. Any techies out there who might know what the problem is?
  13. The reservoirs must be reasonably full by now, with the soapys being closed, the reduced number of tourists and the recent rains.
  14. Good choice of beer there (Rickards Red) This beer and Kokanee are about the best ones I have tasted. Canada does have some great beers 🙂
  15. Tickets booked for 18-29 Dec '22 using my mostly useless frequent flyer miles.
  16. This video is 3 years old so I am not sure if all the stalls/items are still around. Late last year I visited Brick Lane and the Indian stall was not there. I hope that it will be back soon!
  17. And he does not like Thai food - go figure 🙂
  18. What has happened to the coffee and cap club 🙂?
  19. Another option to try is either TJ Maxx or Marshalls. I found their prices to be very competitive.
  20. This looks fantastic! if I may ask, how much did this meal cost?
  21. I thought that Pete had decided against re-opening the bar? Maybe I misread this elsewhere.
  22. What do you call a bunch of chess players bragging about their games in a hotel lobby? Chess nuts bragging in an open foyer
