  1. Whoa. Potentially written off 2 Airframes there?.
  2. This is one of the oldest websites that I think is out there regarding Pattaya, run by a German guy I think and it's been around for over 20 years. The name has changed and it's not what the name suggests: http://www.pattayasweethearts.com/ On the right hand side of the main site logo is a link which gives a drop down menu. http://www.pattayasweethearts.com/menu.html and the newsflash page. http://www.pattayanewsflash.com/2024/february.html If the owner is on here, I'd like to say "Thank you" for providing a no nonsense and informative site for all these years, and long may it continue.
  3. I've got the Jaguar XJ220 from Shell, the big one, but not in the box. I've also started to collect Hot Wheels cars recently , as they're only £1.49 in Poundland and they make good gifts for our Godson.
  4. Tough one for you people, especially the American fellas among us. Mopar, Chevy or ford?. For me, as an Englishman my absolute favourite muscle car is an AAR Cuda, preferably a 70 in Green. Although they were not as popular in the day, I just love them. If I lived in the USA I'd have one of these in a heartbeat, even if it meant selling the Hako to get one. Now, I've done a couple of restorations in my time, but this really is a level of skill and involvement that goes above and beyond. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zU3g8vmFGo8
  5. I take it the price for a Gabor head toy is currently 1000 baht, and anyone who pays more is going to push up costs for everyone else?.
  6. TQ is my only GGB exception. They used to serve draft beer (chang) in ice cold steins years ago, which was a welcome drop on a hot afternoon. Decent sized glasses as well. Actually, TQ is one of the few bars in town apart from Hops (which is technically a restaurant) and Beer Hub where I'll order and drink the draft, purely because I can see it being poured.
  7. He broke the mould of the stuffy DJ's of Radio back then. Funny characters such as Voiceover man and Sid the Manager. Having all the staff in the studio at the same time must have taken a bit of managing. Thanks for the smiles Steve. RIP.
  8. Damn my poor Merc recognition skills lol. I should have known it was a 190 !. Yours is stunning, Factory 2 tone and Wipers on the headlights as well. Diesel or Petrol?. 108k miles, it's only just getting run in I think. 🙂
  9. Got to be pussy. I mean, Benedictine monks get beer, so if I had to ditch pussy, I might as well become one. Actually, this brings up an emotive subject in the USA at least about the guys they call "Incel" - short for "involuntarily celibate" - and has been used to describe School Shooters and is seen by some as contributing to poor mental health. Guys who can't get girlfriends then take their anger out on innocents. That's why I think that prostitution should be controlled and legalised, it might go some way to dealing with some of society's problems,.
  10. W124 Mercedes, the choice of well off Africans everywhere, in Africa. These things are the cockroaches of the Automotive world. Very tough, reliable and if looked after will go on for well over a million KMs without a rebuild, or even the need for anything major. Basically a very good example of German engineering at its finest. They used very durable steel, and mostly engines that weren't particularly stressed in use, Diesels especially.
  11. As @Trip mentioned, the lease agreement and rents is partly the deal breaker on many venues. In typical fashion, if a bar is doing well and the area is growing and becoming successful, then the landlord will increase the rent after 3 years in line with what any empty venues in the same area are being offered for. I've no idea what the bulk purchase price for say, a chang is, maybe 30 baht or 35 baht a bottle?. Draft is going to be even cheaper, but the horror stories I've heard has made me never want to drink cheap draft in a bar again unless I see it poured in front of me (TQ Beach Rd does this).
  12. Stansted Airport UK Departures / arrivals (Info from Wife who flew this weekend) Also, worth noting that to drop off at Stansted it's £7 for up to 15 minutes, £25 over 15 minutes. There is a Mcdonalds pretty much on the roundabout before you enter the main road to get into Stansted which gives 1 hour parking maximum. Short stay parking is between £10 for up to 30min, £18 for one hour, £22 for 2 hours to £35 for 4 Hrs. Inside the Airport the Emirates desks now occupy the area directly in from of the Entrance. Burger king, Costa, WH Smith and another food place are all in pre entry / arrivals. Pre entry is hectic, pretty much a melee getting to security and busy during most daytime hours. Not enough E gates for the passengers, basically. Once thru, shopping is excellent with a large variety of shops, a few restaurants and duty free. Arrivals , the E-gates work much better and more quickly than those at LHR, less distance to walk to the Arrivals area and less distance to travel to the Car park. Wife landed at 17:10, and we were in the car and heading home by 18:00. Not bad at all. Since Emirates fly from STN, it may be used by one or two BM's for a 2 leg BKK journey. It's ridiculously easy to get to being just off the M11, plenty of airport parking for long term available and while much smaller than LHR and LGW, it does seem to run a lot smoother, albeit the pre entry to security is the only weak link in the chain.
  13. Yep, I had one as well, metallic green with the SHADO sticker on the side and orange skids, big yellow missile that would fire if you pulled the spring trigger back underneath then pressed the small clip on the side of the ship!. Still got it somewhere, possibly I think it it was a Dinky toy as well.
  14. They're a bit thin on the location details, I can't work out where it is. One to check out though.
  15. AFAIK There's a prefix you can put prior to dialling the number which reduces it to a local rate call, but that was years ago mate and not sure if the carriers still use it and I can't recall what it was. Otherwise it's free on What's app , LINE, Messenger etc, which won't allow a call to a UK landline but will allow to a mobile device with the relevant app installed and registered. If you're on about calling the Care home, might be worth asking if the Matron / Senior Nurse on duty has a Company phone which has Messenger or Whats App and ask to get the details. At the same time see if you can ask the person doing the duty roster to find out who is working and when, and explain the situation. I know some NHS Wards have this as an option.
  16. Parachute on the front in orange! I did that as well, but my painting skills were less than perfect (as you can see by my display lol)
  17. Honestly mate , I found, and still find it so therapeutic to do. My daughter helps me paint the camo (actually she does the lot herself) and it is a cheap hobby. Initially my head was in a bad place, so the concentration level took me away for a bit, then I found it actually relaxing, as I didn't aim for perfection, just followed the instructions. There's a lot to be said for closing out the world and getting into a zone like that. I actually use my mum's old crochet lens complete with light to help. i was the same as a kid, nicking my Mum's needle thread on a bobbin, sellotape on the ceiling with one bit attached to the front and one to the rear, always followed by BF109's lol/
  18. A few years ago when I lost my Mum and my brothers turned into official cunts, I took up Airfix again mate. Very theraputic as you can get the whole kits including the paint for about £12 give or take. Don;t bother with the Corsair though, it's a fucking nightmare. Paints are cheap anyway, Ebay them, grab yourself a couple of models or give me your address as I've got a couple of kits going begging anyway and will happily post them to you. Here are my attempts, all nicely presented on a stolen EVA Air blanket. Although the scales are different , it's not about that so much, more about the journey. Tamiya do some really good scaled stuff which is cheap and fun to make. (note the Bren gun carrier is smaller scale than the rest)
  19. In the USA I think he was called GI Joe, in the UK it was Action man. I had 5 "Action men" , my "squad" Parachutist, Diver, 2x Pongo, and an Astronaut. They were inherited from my brothers, so came with missing hands, "bulletholes" made by a screwdriver and other stuff, but they were my sqaud, and we had some great adventures. Most importantly, they all had an SLR (or FN) rifle each, and thus were indestructible. Yep - the "Gasworks Gang" saw some pretty tough action back in the day, and always came through.
  20. That's horrific. I managed to get to the end of the first minute. I think we have a winner.
  21. Surely not a QC issue at Airbus?
  22. Welcome to the forum mate. Another lucky guy going to be living my dream and retiring to LOS !. Are you planning to retire in Pattaya or up country?.
  23. Tell me you've heard the billy Connolly bovril joke... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-JjVg0Sbsh4
  24. I often wonder the very same thing. I mean, jumping off a 30 story condo is going to be a suicide, but low floors? not so sure. There's more often and not it will result in life changing injuries, as has been seen on a guy who attempted in pattaya but it didn't go well, he's now without legs and in a wheelchair. I also saw a video about a German guy who was alive and talking to the Police after a jump, but refused medical help, died shortly after. you could well be correct that some people are just not familiar with balconies. Maybe looking out when drunk, leaning too far when having a smoke, balance is easily lost. The only thing I use my balcony for is drying out clothes or putting smelly training shoes out there.
