If you have had experience of the United lounge at Heathrow, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on it, please.

My understanding is that it was built to accommodate large tour groups, and since their numbers have not returned to anything like pre-Covid levels, it is likely to remain a white elephant until they do.

The cynic in me says they want to sell tickets on the Heathrow Express. Those of us in London with old fogies' free transport cards can do the journey free on the Elizabeth Line, but have to pay for the Heathrow Express.

I was speaking with a mate yesterday, and he was complaining about flight costs in February, although he was specifically referring to Business Class. I am a creature of habit, so prefer to fly with EVA between LHR and BKK, Premium Economy. I am wanting to travel out in March and return in April, so, out of curiosity, went on to the EVA website to see the prices. I was not surprised at the prices (they are similar to what I've paid for the last few flights), but I was shocked at availability: several flights were shown as having only 6 or so seats left, and several others just weren't shown as options. It concerned me enough to think that I needed to book now, which I did. A cynic might say that that was what they were trying to achieve! There seems to be plenty of demand, even 7 months ahead, so prices falling in the short term appears unlikely.

I stayed there in March, also in the back building. Very satisfactory from my point of view, although it would have been nice to have had a restaurant there.

Do you not think that larger contributions would be required for this venture?

Yes, but the hotter gogo girls are now not affordable (at least, not to me) and aren't interested in elderly Caucasians. Heaven Above has some pretty girls and a good atmosphere.

I think some of the GCs are where we old timers would prefer to be e.g. Heaven Above.
