  1. I think it was. In fact, the place on Soi 7 is portrayed as a gogo by Nick Dean in his videos.
  2. With sound effects added here in Soi Buakhao, 15.
  3. I think you mean end date, not start date.
  4. I am concerned that Maneerat have a vested interest in saying that! There were some posts on Aseannow, dated 23 October, which said: I'm a condo owner that lives in my condo. I had NEVER filed a TM30 myself and was never asked for one over many many years living here. So I got this news and as I have an extension coming up, I freaked out. So I went in to Jomtien and did file for my first time. I expected there to be a fine. Daresay I probably deserved it. But happily no fine. So I asked the obvious questions? Do I need to file a new TM30 if I stay at a hotel in Thailand? As expected, no. Do I need to file a new TM30 if I leave and reenter Thailand? Surprisingly no. But pay attention -- ONLY because I was an owner occupant of my home. But keep in mind this was at the TM30 desk. --------------------- went to the very same TM30 desk after reading the very same PM story, and asked similar questions (also owner of my home). To me answer was I need to do IF 'I have something to do in immigration (like extension or residence cert.). Not necessarily contradictory to what they said you as indeed it seems no need to do if no need to deal with immigration. --------------------- If I feel up to it, I think I MIGHT wander down to Soi 5 next week and ask there.
  5. Soi Diana opposite the entrance to Soi LK Metro, next to Areca Lodge.
  6. VID-20231124-WA0002.mp4
  7. I'm reading that there is a chest bug going around Pattaya. In London, many of my friends have succumbed to a cold/cough which they are finding it very difficult to shake off. Both these are probably just seasonal things, or, in the case of Pattaya, pollution related. However, it makes me think when I read articles like this: https://www.aol.co.uk/china-mystery-respiratory-illness-know-151713939.html "A request for information about an unidentified respiratory illness coming out of China is enough to worry anyone after the COVID-19 pandemic. On Wednesday the World Health Organization (WHO) asked for details on an increase in respiratory illnesses and reported clusters of pneumonia in children in the north of the country, including the capital Beijing."
  8. I consider those curb stones potentially lethal. You stand on one to cross the road, go to take off, and lose your balance because there is not a 90° edge but a 135° one. It also means it is more difficult to walk on the raised tarmac of the new road with a single stride from the pavement. It wouldn't take much for someone to attempt to dash out in front of a speeding vehicle only to get hit by it as they had lost their balance.
  9. Would that forum happen to have any connection with a bar in LK Metro by any chance? 🙂
  10. I agree that that was the situation for several years, but Immigration seemed to change their attitude a few weeks back.
  11. I read elsewhere that, if you don't need to do anything at Immigration (such as a 90-day report), you don't really need the TM30. I am to and from England frequently, so have never filed a 90 day report, so I'm not sure whether to bother or not.
  12. I think that is important for learning any language - you need to be motivated to learn. I've always been useless at learning languages. For me, Thai is so far away from my reach that I haven't even tried, and I have little motivation as I can just about get by with English and Google.
  13. When I switched on my 'phone this morning, 15 November, at just after 7:30, I found the following text message purporting to come from HSBC: I thought it was a scam as the times they mention were 5 hours AHEAD, and the amounts they quote are zero. This thought was reinforced when I Googled the number it was sent from (+447537438061): the "Who Called Me" type sites were generally saying it was a dangerous number. However, the card number quoted is correct. So, I called HSBC and got put through to the Fraud Department. That proved easy, mainly because HSBC deploy voice recognition. But it then got a lot more difficult as the person I spoke with was pretty certainly in India and he had a very strong accent, and the line was not exactly crystal clear. Long story short. The text message had come from HSBC, by the sound of it from him or one of his colleagues, which explained why it was so badly written. Someone had been using my card details - all sorts of strange transactions e.g. amounts which included cents, an eye company in Canary Wharf (London), etc. Most but not all of the transactions have been taken care of. One hasn't, though, because it hasn't been "statemented" yet; I have to 'phone back when it appears on my statement. As I have not handed over my card to anyone for a very long time, this fraud was obviously perpetrated by someone who had received details for an on-line order. HSBC are to send me a new card, and have cancelled the one mentioned.
  14. Ditto me. Are Bolt taxis used as in Pattaya? I hope you will be able to give us updates on how you are experiencing the move as the months go on.
