  1. ^^^ Remembering that also kicked loose another memory. This one was a swim meet at one of the local high schools. The deck warm up area was in front of a window that was actually a two way mirror into the women's swim coach office. Thing is when you got up close to the mirror and put up your hand to shade the overhead light, you could see into the darkened, unoccupied office. What made the office so interesting to us horny guys was on the other side of the office was another two way mirror that looked directly into the women's locker room. That allowed us to see the women getting dressed and fixing their hair in front of their mirror while half dressed. Our fun was short lived as at the start of the next day's competition we noticed right away they had papered over the poolside "mirror".
  2. Reminds me of a swim meet I competed in decades ago. I was in high school and it was a state meet held at the UW-Madison natatorium. I wandered into the shower room on my way to finding the bathroom. My head was down thinking of my upcoming big event when I heard a cough, cough and a bunch of laughter. I looked up and to my embarrassment realized I had walked into the women's shower room by mistake. Man oh man, did I get an eye full of very healthy looking college coeds.
  3. Interesting view of the eclipse from space.
  4. Just finished reading about how hot it is here. Searing heat is back across Southeast Asia and it’s not going away anytime soon ... Thailand has been worst hit, Herrera said, adding that heat forecasts there have been especially dire. Temperatures across the country had been “breaking non-stop records” for 13 months – and heat and humidity levels were relentless, he said. “We thought temperatures last year were unbearable but (what we are seeing) this year has beaten that – temperatures in Bangkok won’t drop below 30 degrees Celsius, even at night for the rest of April,” Herrera told CNN. “The trend is inescapable. The region has to prepare for terrible heat for the rest of April and most of May.” On April 3, as Thailand entered its annual dry season, the capital Bangkok clocked temperatures of around 109 degrees Fahrenheit – prompting many to stay indoors in air-conditioned comfort. ...
  5. I think Gistda is working with faulty data. Pattaya has been at condition red with an AQI over 100 since 10am. Bangkok only city with hazardous PM2.5 levels PUBLISHED : 11 APR 2024 AT 11:20 Bangkok stood as the only city blanketed by red-coded (seriously hazardous) levels of fine dust pollution among 63 provinces battling thick smog late Thursday morning, according to the Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (Gistda). ...
  6. This morning I noticed a bad smell to the air and it's only gotten worse as the day drags on.
  7. I wish the numbnuts with the high pressure PVC water guns would realize how dangerous they are. Even though the sale and use of them are supposedly banned you still see vendors walking around selling them. Photo Credit: TPN https://www.facebook.com/Thepattayanews/posts/1360892171346027
  8. I was surprised I didn't see one vlogger last night. Perhaps security at the entrance was turning them away.
  9. Good summary by Larry. I thought the place had a good vibe going and have come around to thinking the place stands a good chance of being a success. I suspect they'll have a problem with drink and dash customers as it's going to be very hard for the staff to keep a watchful eye on all their customers. Made harder by the fact there is nothing to distinguish one bart's bin from another bar. Unfortunately it's the staff who will have to cover the drink cost when a customer walks away without paying. And as Larry pointed out, their electric bill is going to be massive. Even more so as surprisingly they don't have an air curtain at the entrance. Something unique to the beer garden are dB meters at the front and two bars in on each side. At around 90 dB you could still carry on a converstation without having to shout.
  10. I think the short lived thundershower that just moved through the area is all we're going to get for the rest of the day. Unfortunately it was so short lived, it only added a couple of cm's of water to my new, expanded capacity rain collection system.
  11. ^^^ I listen to one viral song from over a decade ago and now my YT recommend list is populated by covers of the same song. I have to admit, this one was quite good.
  12. A light rain shower just snuck up on me. Lasted all of 30 seconds before it ended. Hoping it's not just a tease and more will be on its way.
  13. The only time of year one can honestly say they're happy to have a holiday away from Thailand. Safe travels.
  14. @fforest, Hard to believe, there's a beach footpath with fewer trees than Pattaya's beach footpath.
  15. For many, the sign on the post must mean no blue circles allowed rather than no waiting or parking.
  16. The water madness has begun on Soi 7. I wonder if the bars on Soi 7 will see an uptick in business to justify what in my experience is the earliest start ever to the water madness. As they say, forewarned is forearmed. If you want to avoid getting drenched, Soi 7 is definitely the soi to avoid. Pictures of the war zone during a cease fire this morning.
  17. Some stupid human tricks are just hilarious...
  18. I was confused by what the map represented as well. Using Google Image search I see the heading was cropped out of the picture. Another version of the map without the country overlays. https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Koppen-climate-classification-of-Australia-adapted-from-45_fig1_350760601
  19. When I was installing my DIY garden shade canopy I was very aware how dangerous it was working around and over the wall spikes, and that was while I was using a ladder. Even in my most drunken state I would never attempt to climb over the wall. RIP to the guy.
