  1. A good name for all reality TV shows... pointless.
  2. Maybe golf isn't so boring after all.
  3. Same here. It did seem though that quite a few of them had larger openings, thus reducing the water pressure coming out.
  4. In my many years of windsurfing I never experienced sailing with dolphins. I did on a couple of occasions spot sharks just below the surface. What was incredible was night windsurfing when the sea bioluminescence was active. Couldn't find any windsurfing images, but plenty of surfing pics and video out there of amazing nature putting on a light show.
  5. In a search for a high res shot of this I found this YT video of another similar encounter. I also saw numerous other pics of dolphins playing in the waves (link), so not as uncommon as one might imagine.
  6. They should have used flesh colored paint on the glue gun. Also liked their description of the goo as "salty protein".
  7. Noticed too Friday morning she had four huge buckets out front filled with water ready for the water play. Nice of her to do that considering her business hasn't opened yet.
  8. Have you figured out what this new place will be? My guess is a fresh food market, which would be a great addition to our neighborhood. Noticed too how a lady that is probably the owner has been out their daily sweeping and keeping the place immaculately clean.
  9. For those that have expressed doubts that the water used during Songkran is dirty... 65 children fall sick from Songkran foam party At least 65 children were diagnosed with rotavirus after joining a foam party celebrating the Songkran festival in Muang district. The children were taken to Chao Phraya Yommarat Hospital and other private hospitals for treatment of diarrhoea, upset stomach, high fever, vomiting and rashes. Some were discharged while others remain under care. They came down with the symptoms after joining a Songkran event at the Banana Conservation Centre in Suphan Buri, where a water tunnel and foam party had been arranged. ... Mr Sorachud said the virus might have originated in the water used at the event. Authorities are waiting for test results to see if the water was contaminated. “No one wanted the situation to turn out like this; it was meant to be a safe space for children,” he added. ...
  10. With the defamation laws such as they are here, I wouldn't want to push it beyond a verbal exchange.
  11. Link is to a long list of videos on FB. To post a link to a specific video, right click on the date/time of the posted video, select Copy link address and post that link here.
  12. Interesting video came up in my YT recommended list. While searching for a better copy I found the backstory to the video. Pet Parents Use Drone To Search For Missing Husky, Discover Him Playing With Bears
  13. Did some searching and came up with this vid.
  14. I have and use the identical setup for transferring money to Thailand. Perhaps at some point Schwab at least will adopt the IAT format for ACH transfers and we can once again use that method for fee free transfers of money. My experience has been I lose about .19 off the interbank transfer rate on the currency conversion. I've also been pleasantly surprised to see the last couple of SWIFT transfers hitting my account in less than 24 hours. The most recent one on March 21st took only 12 hours.
  15. Soi 7 as usual was the busiest soi in terms of water madness. Soi Buakhao a close second. Soi 6 was probably in the top three as well, but our group didn't make it that far north. Posted the following in another topic about the beer prices at a bar on Soi 7. Curious what your bottle of MY beer cost. Our Leos were 100B at Fore Play.
  16. Had a good day out with friends yesterday. We met early at Nikom to warm up with a few beers. We then wandered out and down to Beach Rd about 1 pm. Seemed to be less people about this year compared to years past. Also was surprised to see vehicle traffic on Beach Rd, thought they were going to block it off from Klang to Tai. Eventually we turned up Soi 7 and stopped at Fore Play bar. I was first to order and when I asked how much for the Leo was told 90B. Next one in our group who hadn't heard me ask, asked the same question and was told 95B. The rest of your group of six were charged 100B. We stayed long enough to finish our overpriced beer and then moved on. On the way out I mentioned to the lady who did the multi-tiered pricing that we all lived here and we didn't appreciate the overcharging on beer prices. Her reply was it was Songkran so prices were higher. Foolish business decision on her part. Not sure what regular pricing is, but let's say it's 80B which would be about 45B/beer profit. So instead of us staying and having a couple of beers at her bar, we left after one beer. So in the end she earned an extra 20B/person and gave up the 45B/person she would have earned if we had stayed and had at least one more round. She also lost our future custom as we'll be sure to avoid her bar going forward.
  17. This is good info. If I ever retire up country to my lady's home I'll make sure to get an ID card and register at the local hospital.
  18. Not in the same class as Glitterman, but there was the guy that would ride around Pattaya with his brightly colored macaw perched on the back. Often time you'd see him on the beach or at Central looking for tourists that would pay a few baht to have their picture taken with the bird. He had the room across from me when I lived at Nirun. Found him to be a nice guy.
  19. I had another "Well that was a surprise..." yesterday. About three months ago my longtime Thai neighbor, Dtaa, moved out her house next door to ours so she could rent it out to a group of Vietnamese guys. Other than talking loudly during the day they hadn't been bad neighbors. Well yesterday my lady tells me to come quickly and look what's happening next door. So we go into our 2nd floor master bedroom and look out the window that overlooks the driveway next door. She tells me the guys are breaking their one year lease and moving out early. Because Dtaa was keeping their deposit they decided as compensation they'd try to take her new refrigerator with with them and were in the process of loading it on the back of the truck. My lady had called Dtaa to report what was happening and she and her adult son arrived before they could leave. After much back and forth conversation we see them unloading the refrigerator, but the surprise was what came next. I then see them loading up a piece of junk old refrigerator. Turns out what they were trying to do is swap their piece of junk old one for her new refrigerator, as if she wouldn't notice the switch. Just when you think you've seen it all, a new surprise smacks you in the face.
  20. The problem you had with the ATM card not reading could be for the same reason my started failing. Oxidation on the embedded chip's contact points which rubbing an eraser over was enough clean the oxidation off.
  21. It's a rare night when I stop in and the vibe is off. Last week there was a guy in there that started a killer pool game with a twist. Not only did he put up a good chunk of money for 1/2/3 in the amount of 1500/1000/500, he also set the rule if the lady wanted to be able to pot the black, she had to play the game naked. With the amount of money up for grabs I got to watch about a dozen naked ladies playing pool.
  22. Best guess is you picked up a couple of the very small ants which then tried feeding on you. They're so small you often times don't feel the bite, but the result is the characteristic swelling like you see on your arm. Most times the itchy feeling goes away in less than 30 minutes, but your body could be hypersensitive to the bite. Since I don't see any open wounds I wouldn't bother with an antibiotic cream, unless your itching breaks the skin. Instead I'd suggest a topical antihistamine.
  23. I did, but it wasn't a massage. Had a good time at King's Club last night.
