  1. Windmill will now open the 10th... they had a big group in cleaning the place today but I suppose need more one day.
  2. The Dollhouse (Pattaya) posted on Facebook that they will be open this weekend.
  3. They are going to be recruiting girls today .... are you pretty enough to qualify?
  4. Pin up opens on Wednesday the 8th Sent from my SM-G965F using Tapatalk
  5. Tonight I went a checked out the only gogo open on Walking Street: Tantra. First let me say that I admire them for opening up and giving people the chance to earn a living. Pattaya needs more businesses open. Tonight is the first night of a 4 day holiday and Pattaya is more crowded than it's been in months. Lots of domestic tourists. Anyway, back to Tantra. Tantra is a long thin gogo with one long thin stage in the middle broken into three pieces allow people to cross from one side of the room to the other. They wrapped a long sheet of plastic around the poles crating a huge cocoon around the whole stage from knee level up to about head level. There were a few breaks in the cocoon to allow girls to enter and leave the stage. The girls were not topless (although I remember fondly some topless shows at this gogo not too long ago). The girls were not even in bikinis, they were dressed in nice outfits but fully clothed. The girls were not even dancing. They sat motionless on high stools sitting on the stage. That's right, the entertainment offered by this gogo and for which you pay a premium in your drink price is to watch a fully clothed girl sitting quietly on a stool behind a sheet of plastic. And to make things worse I think they got their DJ from a auto parts store since he played solid car-alarm sounds the whole time. Not even a break to play actual music as they used to do when the showgirls got on stage. I know this is a phase and we'll get though this. I don't see why having the dancer dance topless would be so harmful to them or the customer. It would be a whole lot more entertaining. And Walking Street is no longer exclusive to walkers. Cars are parked along the street and motorbikes roam freely and park wherever they want. It's chaos I tell you.
  6. I just finished The Valhalla Murders. It's an Icelandic murder mystery series. One season. Lots of exciting action and twists and turns so you really don't know the whole story until it's done. Lots and lots of snow and funny names for people. It's dubbed in English as well as other languages. The English subtitles don't match the dubbed English so if you listen to the English and read the subtitles it's like watching two versions of each scene. A good way to spend your time sheltering in place. Two thumbs up.
  7. If it's like where I grew up you need to get a construction permit to begin construction.... but then when it's done you get a license to have it operate as a business. Two different things. Of course you want assurances that you'll be able to obtain a license when you're done and I'm not sure how that's done here or if the licensing folks can or will make that promise sight unseen.
  8. I don't know things work around here but I would have expected that one would apply for a license to operate after construction was nearly done so that the premises could be inspected by the authorities before granting a license. Maybe here you get a licence before starting construction. Surprising .... but this is Thailand.
  9. I like his videos. The Thailand YouTube videos are now either live streams which are pointless ebegging sessions and a chance for trolls to make trouble or they are the videos where you show what you did that day. There's no point to those videos either but at least you hope the author took a little time to cut out the parts where nothing happens (which is what comprises most of a live stream). Pattaya Pariah shoots the video and months later after returning home and having time to reflect on his experience comes up with a thesis for the video and expands on that theme with narration. He's not trying to rush through it (so understandably this drives people nuts who have short attention spans). He takes his time since he is in no rush to shoot and edit and produce a video that day like so many YouTubers. Like him or hate him there's no denying that he's an original and for that alone he deserves praise.
  10. I was going to ask about which office you used... but that's in the title. odd about the 50 limit in the morning.. when I did it last year they collected the paperwork in the morning and you came back the next day for the extension. it was a rapid process no matter what your queue number.
  11. I never thought I'd say this but I think Hitler made some good points in the video.
  12. Looking at my visa that I got in 2011 I see written by hand: NON "O" and then next to it is the word "RETIREMENT" rubber stamped next to it. Does the word "RETIREMENT" turn it into an O-A visa? I'm thinking based on this new video that it does not, that existing retired folks are grandfathered in and do not have to get this insurance at this moment?
  13. Someone posted in another forum that he was told that Jomtien would require proof of health insurance from one of the approved companies when renewing an extension at Jomtien. Told by whom was not specified. I figure that the only way to know for sure is hear from those renewing. I don't renew my extension until February but I renew my health insurance in January and I'd like to know if I have to buy outpatient coverage as well.
  14. Has anyone renewed their retirement extension at Jomtien since Nov 1 and if so did they demand proof of health insurance? I've still seen no consistent answer to whether health insurance is needed for extensions so the ultimate answer is what is being asked of those renewing. I have plenty of inpatient coverage myself but for outpatient I insure myself as it's cheap enough.
  15. i really enjoyed "The Boys", an Amazon Prime Video.... I got it via a torrent but I may subscribe to Amazon Prime to see other content. It seems that amount of shows available in Thailand (without resorting to a VPN) is much more than last time I looked (my TV has an Amazon Prime application but can't go through a VPN). The cost for video alone as far I can tell is free for the first month, $3/month for 6 months and then $6/month. You can get the full Amazon Prime membership for free for the first month and then $13/month. I don't know if there are any benefits to the full Amazon Prime if you live in Thailand as the key benefit is amazingly fast shipping which I assume helps little for international orders. But back to the TV series. The Boys is highly recommended...
  16. A good guess would be Soi 3 based on the contents of the huge message.
  17. I was out last night. Folks at the Windmill told me about the police raid the previous night and how a manager and mamsan were taken away as well as an under 20 dancer. However it was business as usual last night at the Windmill. in the past closure orders take a while to happen.. it could be that something will come of this raid in the days to come. I found that Electric Blue was also raided that same night but I don't think any staff were hauled away. Last night the ladies were wearing bikini tops and skirts.... nothing showing.. As a result there were just a few customers unlike a normal Friday night.. Then I went to a gogo on Walking Street near the police stand and the girls were topless and bouncing up an down on customers doing lap dances. The inconsistency of the rules here is amazing.
  18. trivia question: What's the last new gogo that opened on the beach side of Walking Street that still lasts until today? People keep trying to open new gogos on the beach side only (apparently) to learn that they can't get a license and fail.... at least that's what been written on the forums. So there must be a last gogo that go in before the moratorium started. And no I don't know the answer. Maybe Taboo....
  19. Yes absolutely. That's what forums are for - to talk about what we see whether good or bad. Ignore those who try to stifle discussion - that makes no sense as no one is forced to read every thread -- but there always folks like that on these forums. I avoided this soi as it felt like I was doing motocross on my motorbike just driving down it. After the repaving it became useful again. I'll be watching to see at what point it becomes unusable again.
  20. When I've gotten my road tax sticker at an inspection station I give them my green book and proof of government insurance (and 300 baht) and then come back in 3 or 4 days and get back my green book and road tax sticker. At these temporary shops in malls like Big C and Central do they print up the road tax sticker on the spot or do I have to come back in a week to pick up my sticker and green book?
  21. I recall a video from vlogger Kev in Thailand where he went to have his newly purchased pre-owned bike inspected and it was rejected due to having blue lights. So I suppose these inspections will help reduce the number of illegal mods people put on their bikes (.. of course after the inspection you could put the mods back on ..)
  22. good info.... but I just got my bike road tax at the inspection station on soi 4 off Pattaya Tai.... I'll use it for my car in October....
  23. The remodel in front of The Avenue is nearly done. They still have to install a new sign. They replaced the elevated walkway and fake stones and grass with a giant concrete slab. They textured part of it to look like wood and another part to look like tile. At least that should make it less slippery when it rains. Now there's more room for the night market that's starts when the sun goes down.
