  1. Trout with garlic for Mrs. CO while I was enjoying Gnocchi al Ragout al Forno al Tomato-cream sauce al Allah and Urbi et Orbi.
  2. From yesterday: Gnocchi Amatriciana. Cooked it a notch too spicy so the Aperol Spritz did a good job of cooling me down.
  3. San Mig wheat beer for 70 baht not bad, but not to be compared with Weihenstephaner. Is it worth paying more? I think after 3 bottles you can no longer taste the difference.
  4. Pesto pasta and some goat cheese salad, while the Missus had a fish from the market.
  5. Maybe you should not show them those pics that you are posting in certain threads.
  6. Now finally to the meal. Mrs. CO wanted roast pork, her favorite German dish. On the menu under "German cuisine" there is Smoked Pork Loin, I assumed something like "Kassler" (rather salty smoked and boiled pork German style), my Mrs. doesn't like that. So under "Authentic Bavarian Food" she ordered the "Schweinekrustenbraten" (pork crust roast, strange, it's written in German). I chose the meat loaf with potato salad, also known as "Leberkäs(e)" Meat loaf and potato salad very tasty, but I prefer the one dressed with mayonnaise. For the crust pork roast: I was expecting something like this: Maybe I've been away from Germany for too long, or I didn't read the menu properly, but what came as a roast with a crust was impossible: Where's the meat there? Mrs. CO wasn't thrilled. The taste is delicious due to the large amount of fat, the sauce is also good. Sauerkraut could do with cumin. Not again, said Mrs. CO, and also too expensive (the food). The bill: Don't get me started on the service charge and tip, whether you can easily see it on the menu or not, this shouldn't be part of the review. Conclusion: My question to Mrs. CO: "What do you prefer, Seeland or Hops? "Hops" came the clear answer. Then a beaming smile: "I want to go to Hops again!" I couldn't say anything against that.
  7. Service: Nice clothes, but girls in dirndls should be built a little ehmmm... more lavishly. Push-up bra? Otherwise no special occurrences. Beer: There are 4 different home-brewed varieties that you can also test in the sample set. We started with the wheat beer and the lager, both in 0.4 l glasses. Lager was a bit sour, as was the wheat beer. Not bad compared to a Leo or Singha, but the Hops wins in either case. My opinion and also that of Mrs. CampariO. But I'm wondering what the popcorn is for? Mrs. CO thought there had better be some bread. She doesn't even eat bread. But I had to agree with her and am already considering whether she should continue writing the review. Later Mrs. CO wanted to try the Viennese beer. She liked it a lot, but I'm not into the dark stuff.
  8. Sitting: Good that there are seat cushions. Otherwise the furniture looks a bit cheap. Other facilities and atmosphere: they try to be Bavarian, but somehow it doesn't quite come across as a whole. The Asians will probably notice it less. Maybe it's because of the Music: The location of the band is a bit unusual, they probably tried to use the space somehow. However, a better place for the band would have been another restaurant. They would have fitted nicely into the Moon River Pub, but not into a brewery restaurant. Also a bit too loud. At times the songs put me in a rather depressing mood. It doesn't have to be an umpa-umpa kind of music, but I would have preferred some Bavarian mood music muffled from the loudspeakers and that would have totally upgraded the entire atmosphere. The music at Hops: I was too early on the last visit, but it used to be pretty good.
  9. Nobody went there? Then I'm the first!!! Ok, let's start with: Location: There are 2 Seeland Brewery on google maps, the one further up on the sea side of Thappraya Rd. is the right one. Parking: Everything is marked in red/white in front of the restaurant, but you can park your vehicle on the opposite side. At least today, no idea what it looks like on the weekend or in the high season. There is also a sign directing to a car park and one or more golf carts for shuttle service. Entrance: No idea what the bouncers are there for. In the Hops, they keep the ladyboys away, who aren't welcome there. Doesn't matter. Speaking of Hops, I'll use that as a reference, only recently I have been back since a long time and I still like it. To come back to parking, Seeland may have an advantage. You can also sit outside, but nobody wanted to today. Also a plus compared to the Hops.
  10. I am with galenkia. They look all same to me, give me a little spinner from Isaan without all that paint and deformed faces from that stupid nose job.
  11. Hey, it's still cheaper than in.....ehmmm, in......
  12. I knew Lirch would join this thread sooner or later.... Can we now go back to Wordle, please?
  13. Pizza was disappointing. Hardly any tomato sauce, so lacked flavour. Tiny pieces of ham, mushrooms and salami, 320 Bt. Not again. Mrs. CO had a southern Thai dish, she loved it but I didn't want a second spoonful.
  14. Tried the Lasagna today (295 Bt) while Mrs. CO had the spare ribs (320 Bt). The Lasagna was the way I like it with a nice sauce. If it would have been covered completely in cheese, I would have given it a 10. Spare ribs a bit on the sweet side, remarked Mrs. CO, but we both liked them. They come with a side dish (mashed ptatoes?) but the Mrs. switched it for some rice - as usual. I was shocked to learn a glass of wine is 180 Bt. I know the wine prices have increased recently. It is an Italian wine form the 2 l bottle, the glass looked big and the filling not too stingy. Will try it next time, maybe. Thai food seems good value, Khao Pat or Pat Krapaow Moo only 70 Bt, Gaeng Kiao Waan 100. Next time I will try the Pizza.
  15. That's normal for Huay Yai. When I took the pics there were 3 customers. Later some more arrived. In one of our favorite places in Huay Yai (Papaya) we are usually the only guests. The rest of their business is delivery. But I like it that way.
  16. The Waitress - who turned out to be the wife of the Italian owner and cook - recommended the daily special: Homemade Tortellini with Ricotta cheese with tomato and pesto sauce. Homemade sounded good, so I gave it a try. I was blown away! Nice presentation and the flavors of the pesto combined with the tomato sauce which contained a touch of meat was great and didn't match the surroundings. For 230 Bath the price was low, even for Huay Yai. Madame wasn't hungry as she had some food a bit earlier, so she had a large Leo, same as me. 80 Baht a bottle. The portion was ok but I still felt a bit hungry. So, I ordered some bruschetta. Heavy on Balsamico it was really deliscious as well. 75 Baht. 2 Espresso @ 45 Bt each . There is Thaifood and many pasta dishes, pizzas, their "famous" ribs (so she said) and a steak on the card. Unfortunately no deserts other than ice cream/banan split. Will be definately back, hoping the other food will be as good as what I had today. Location: https://goo.gl/maps/Ps72zHpNXfpL7wd36 Opening hours 11-15 and 17-22h.
  17. I will probably never remember the restaurant's name, but I will never forget the location. It's not that far from my home in Huay Yai. For most of the readers it won't be worth to drive so far....or maybe it will, I have to try some more dishes. When I saw the pics on google map, I thought let's give it a go. Today was the day. Entering, I didn't expect much. It looked a bit jumbled up but had a nice atmosphere. Sorry, a bit blurry. Wood fired oven looked promising.
  18. Wouldn't worry about insurance but number of seatbelts.
  19. 5-6 in a pick-up? Ehmm, you mean 2 adults on the front seat, 2 kids in the back seat and 2 adults on the truck bed with the luggage? 🙂 Haven't travelled in many pick-ups, but most have rather emergency seats on the back where my GF (1.4 m height) already feels squeezed during a longer trip. Check-out some car rental companies such as https://budget.co.th/Car They show how many seats are in each model. Better go for a 7 seater like the Toyota Fortuner or Isuzu Mu-x. Some CR-V models have a 7-seat version as well. For an hour trip to the next tempel a pick-up might be sufficient, but for a 9 hours trip?
  20. Using a vacuum cleaner with a hepa filter also helps to keep the dust away and whatever is there with it. If your kitchen is open plan, switch off the air purifier before frying a steak or similar, otherwise the indication will go up to 400 or so. Open the windows and air/ventilate the room, then switch it back on. Otherwise I imagine the filters won't last long.
  21. Changed already everything, and when I went to Germany for 2-3 weeks, the problem persists. It's hives, probably, flares up every other day. Started about 2 weeks after my second AstraZeneca......but I had since a couple of years a similar allergy to vitamine B, when eating too many pomelos, grapefruits or similar fruits. Now on antihistamins almost daily, hoping it will improve in the future.
  22. On the other hand you could come to our house and see (and listen) the unit in action. You just have to promise to stay away from my black label, not to touch the fridge and don't rape the neighbours bull dog again.
  23. I have only one unit, that's why I said I might buy a second. If you order one and don't like it, I will buy it from you within a week - half price of course. 🙃 Not noisy, similar to the fan of a quality AC, though you can hear it on low speed. Don't bother me at night as the AC is running same time and I am a bit sensitive as well. You can run them all day long on low speed, the installed power is 49 Watts only, so they don't use much electricity. Uhmmm, by the way, don't smoke inside the room, otherwise they won't be of much use. And why do you care anyway? Compared to the fags you inhale the units will not do much to increase your time on earth. Or did you finally quit?
