it will be Thais I think. As so often happens here, a copycat of the one in Ban Amphur which, pre COVID at least, had queues to get in most days. Whenever something “works” it always seems to get copied pretty quickly.

What a great thread. When we moved to UK in 1976 I spent two years in Skipton. By 18 I couldn’t wait to see the bright lights and left but my Mam remained until she passed away and my sister is still there. I went back a few times and took my son to meet his Nan about 6 years ago. I enjoyed my time there and have some good memories of it.

Now that takes me back :) 1977, my mate got use of his grannies lime green Toyota Corolla every weekend. Cruising (cough) with windows down, wayfarers on, and Bruce blaring. Prize plonkers we must have looked 555

Laterally thinking tho - a quote from an LK manager on the same subject. ”it’s not enough but our takings were up 15% with it” Agree, it’s too little but that 15% can be the difference between losing and breaking even. My personal view is it’s a rollout for the better - eerytime they give a little more it’s another step down a long road.

This, I’m rather ashamed to say. We were discussing the worst songs of the 80s in my defense.

We had our own servers before but Invision would not give priority support. This is why we took the, reluctant, decision to switch to their hosting about 18 months ago. Thai Visa made the same decision for the same reason. I really wish a better option existed. Hopefully this forum will be relatively error free, touch wood, as it’s very small.

Sprouts - aka Brussel Sprouts - Love them or Hate them?
Whitespider replied to john luke's topic in Off Topic Chat
I got some the other day. Would have been the first I’d had for donkeys years. Then the Mrs forgot to cook them so they still reside in the veg tray in the fridge sadly. -
Server provider/host is Invision. There would be problems with any server/host running software that changes so frequently. We use Invision mainly for the Support as they don’t offer it to a reasonable level if we host the forum elsewhere. The perfect host/solutions probably don’t exist. If they did we would try it.

Sorry about the delay guys. To keep a (very) long story short we had numerous issues where the only thing we could do was wait. Very frustrating but all seems ok now.

True but many hours to check. Sure the transfer took days but it was only 1 second work I.e turning it on. I get your point though. -

Yes, good point, but if there are no links it doesn’t really matter and running that check would take even longer than transfer anyway. Besides which it’s done now ❤️ -
The upgrade/backup has finally completed - it took longer than expected as we found a 70gb folder of images and videos. Fortunately there were no major issues with this part. We have asked the server guys to transfer to the new server at 21.00 Thai Time on Tuesday 16th February 2021. This could take anything from a couple of hours to, well who knows. Once the transfer is complete there are almost always "issues" but once its back we will start a thread where members can notify us of things missing or not working. Once "stable" we will turn as many of the 3rd Party plugins back on that have been missing recently as we can. Some are out of date so it wont be all but again we will do what we can. Please bear with us - its never straightforward but we will do our best to keep the downtime to a minimum.

Why we've been wed so long....
Whitespider replied to coxyhog's topic in Living in your home country
20 years for me on Thursday. Only the 2nd one I’ve actually remembered - which may be a valid point 🤣 -
I could be wrong but aren't the current series only using "local" due to travel restrictions? If thats not the case - yes we should have. That (non) stumping looked an appalling decision.

The truth about running a business here right now
Whitespider replied to tommy dee's topic in Living in Thailand
I don’t know about Nickys but a friend does Sunday Roasts and it’s only really cost effective to do as “planned”. Basically lamb and beef joints take hours to roast, and are not cheap. I would GUESS chicken and pork could well be on the cards though. If you use Facebook it might be worth asking her direct. -

Decent morning for England removing the last 4 wickets for 29. But, 329 looks a good score on this track. Pant got runs again. Exciting player to watch. Great quote by one of the bbc commentators yesterday “he can’t keep wicket but he sure can bat”. England, as I write, 7-1 and I honestly think they are going to struggle to get to 250. That could change of course, two decent innings India only had 3 really) could make things very tight.

I have never been either. However, I am very aware that both the lady, and the business, have very good reputations and followings. Hope she gets through. -
What's your baht worth? Exchange rates on the street...
Whitespider replied to Painter's topic in All about the Baht
I’m so old and been here so long I remember the days of 28 Baht to the £GB 😂😂. Also remember waking up one morning, 1998 I think it was, and thinking it was Christmas as it had shot from 40 something to 90 odd almost overnight.
