When I was living in the San Francisco Bay Area, my house didn’t have AC and luckily I really didn’t even need a fan except for the warmest of days. I got spoiled by the $30 electric bills. Here in Jomtien, I usually have the AC off all day until bedtime, then I’ll run it at 25 for a half hour or so. I think by living mostly AC-free, I am not as uncomfortable when I’m on my bike rides or walks as the temperature differential isn’t nearly as great compared with the other option.

No, but he offered the widow and her family use of one of his jets. -
Only the video I posted wasn’t a scripted comedy act. 🤣

What is the longest period you have had not driving a car?
forqalso replied to Derek Dangleberries's topic in On the road
About the only thing that I miss since I moved here is my Chevy Cruze. It was a really great car for me. The 2 liter diesel was great on fuel. I drove from Denver, Colorado to my home near San Francisco (1975 km) only refueling once. I last drove a car in February of last year before I sold it. Here, I have a Thai license and I drove my girlfriend’s pickup once on the streets and parked it for her many times at the condo. Now mostly ride my cheapo Tesco Lotus bike; but just started looking at scooters. -

Someone mentioned a “jumper” being tied up and still it being ruled a suicide. I related a story; that at first glance, seems unlikely. Most bags with heads in them hanging off bridges aren’t immediately thought off as suicides. But, as I posted, there was a reasonable explanation that proved this bridge jumper acted on his own. It relates to the conversation because, unless all the facts are known, we can’t say why the police in a different case ruled suicide in spite of the victim being tied up. Maybe you should resign from your self-appointed role as “members’ post analyst/critic” and leave that job to the moderators as your ability to understand the posts of others and how they relate to the ongoing discussion seems to be lacking. -

There was one in Bangkok where a man’s head was found hanging from a bridge. His body was later found in the river below. It was ruled to be a suicide. But from what I’ve read, too long of a rope (long drop) can cause decapitation and too short of a drop will not result in a quick death. -

A lot of things are better than starving. You should see what some people will suck just to get something warm in their belly.

I think his lawyers gave him some markers to color with during his trial.

I used to have one exactly like that, except it was an electric pencil sharpener.
