  1. Years ago I was snowed in at the telecomms site on Pole Moor. I just made loads of noodles whilst I could boil water. It kept me going through the night so I'd recomend a couple of packs of them no matter where you are in the World. Do you keep a short handled spade in the boot? Things are different here. I keep my passport, bank cards and now my vaccine certificate in there. I'm never going to starve or freeze to death here so the important things for me are two complete change of clothes, a pair of plastic shoes and the basics for a SSS.
  2. Nothing wrong with a drop of hongthong in the homebrew to fortify it... All together now ...!!! "Forti Forti Fortified..Ta nieow, ta nieow, ta nieow, ta nieow ..Fortified!!!"
  3. I've heard it is going to be offices for Western Embassies and Consulates. The main central building is where you will wait for them to come and deal with you individually. Food from around the World will be available along with the World's best wines all free of charge. Each of the dainty coloured huts are for each ambassador to sit naked whilst you throw custard pies at them for not giving a toss.
  4. I have a cunning plan using about 20 breeze blocks ......!!!!
  5. Yep, I was thinking of buying one of those hermetically sealed pumps a few years ago for my rain water catchment tanks. 1,000 baht I think. They would be useful after the floods because during the floods there is nowhere to pump the water too! During the night on Tuesday I was stood in the water upto my dangleberries and was joking with my neighbours pretending to bail out the water into the street which was at the same water level! Imagine standing where she is and the height of the street flood water is going over her wall - except my house is higher rather than lower.) I have a plan to add steps and extend my wall by a couple of metres. (Difficult to explain really.)
  6. I expect to drop a few places after this weekend but that is all my fault for transferring whilst drunk. Wait until after the team news briefings on Thurs/Fri to choose your team. Keep hold of your chips as long as possible because there are 2 more international breaks coming up in Oct and Nov and anything can happen! At the end of the day you need just as much luck as skill...and there is a long way to go for me to go bottom and you to go top!!
  7. 2 players out injured now so, because of my drunken transfer last weekend, I've had to lose -8 points. I am determined not to use a chip until after NYE. But I have to stop drunken transfers !!!!
  8. I am having a nice relaxing glass or two of homebrew contemplating making my cat into a nice fluffy ginger hat when he dies ..
  9. Who needs enemas when you have friends like that !!
  10. Shit yeh! Remember the winter of 63 ??? Wasn't there a bad one 79ish too ???
  11. Thanks, I'm not a BA fan but any updates on ticket prices are good for me !!
  12. I'd like them to set a weight. Anything above it then you pay. Anything below it then you can drink a set amount of wine. Of course I am biased, I only travel hand baggage!
  13. I have always said the weather patterns are changing in Thailand but many just say everything is the same every year. I have lived "in the village" for 16 years before returning here 10 years ago. I can remember not being able to completely harvest and store my rice in time for the Surin Elephant Festival in November because everyone was busy doing the same. In November !!!
  14. Jeez, when did that move? Wasn't it on 13/3 or 13/4 ..?? I'm getting old...
  15. I've never been inside The Castle but thanks for posting your experiences ..
  16. I am sorry but this is the first time I read this. Of course some "famous" people that have died and have brought joy to our lives. Of course people die, but sometimes it is important to remember "normal people" in our lives. I remember MM being upset because he didn't take one last look inside the open coffin of one of his girls and the angst of not telling her young barfine how she felt about hm.
  17. It was very bad last night. Just started to "relax" ... I was very sleepy last night after my second jab, with a few aches. Everything was dark in my room apart from a nightlight and I heard people shouting my name accompanied by revving engines. I swear this is the truth.I woke up thinking I was in 80's NI with "pigs" warming up but then I realised that my flack jacket was my vest! 4am and the water was high but I had plenty of time to prepare. I just let the water flood in, no problem. Then my thumb was bitten by one of those big millipedes, then the fucking cat got scared and knocked my bug out bag, my medicine and f**k knows what else into the foot of water in my room! But, as always, I survive. I always do. And I do it by myself. I dread the day when I become reliant on somebody else.
  18. I guess that you don't live in an area that had water rationing at a time when all hotels and condos were empty. I do, although it had little effect on me because I have a large storage tank and live alone, but at times last year it was refilling at "trickling speed"..... with no tourists to compete with ...
  19. Bugger it! I'm going against my strategy and taking a -4 point hit purely because of the transfer I did whilst drunk last week. I pretty much HAD to do it.
  20. Holy Paella Batman! We need to get there before it's all gone! To the tuktuk cave! ! 🛺 Dinner dinner dinner dinner Batman!
  21. I have 2 distinct memories of the incident. - I was in my hotel room in KL watching the early stages of the first plane strike when I got a call from the agency downstairs to say that my passport was ready for collection in the lobby with the appropriate stamps. I jumped in the lift, picked up my passport and rejoined the lift. A couple joined me in the lift with their suitcases. I asked where they were from. "New York" they said. So I told them to cancel their plans and switch on the TV when they get to their rooms . "You're drunk" "You've been watching a movie" the bloke said. He fell short of saying "f**k off you drunken c**t you are frightening my wife". After I continued to tell them, they got out. I have no idea what happened after that. - My second memory may sound flippant but I was sitting outside the Landmark hotel with a mate reading the BP. It was reporting on the service where all the names were read out and in the bottom corner of the third page was an article that Kap Choeng Immigration now allowed International access... Sad but true!
  22. It reminds me of the condo I moved into after the crash in '97 when I was feeling flush with cash. I moved from Din Daeng/Rangnam area to "uptown" Phayatai ... 9,000 a month to 18,000 a month . The girls loved doing it doggy doggy at night looking out over the city and howling at the moon !!
