  1. What a fantastic day out mate.... and a fantastic family. Well Done!
  2. Whenever I read BMs comments about being in Pattaya in the early 80s my mind goes back to where I was then..Hunger Strike riots in Derry, the night of the Droppin Well bombing (I still don't like inside bars) and I think what a bunch of diverse life experiences we have.
  3. For those that like to Monger on soi 6/1 and Beach Road ....
  4. 80 Baht, 5 minutes walk away. Number 1 at the sides, Number 2 on top, nicely shaved around the edges, ears trimmed, nose trimmed, tache trimmed. 30 minutes done and dusted.... I think that you look like a very young SAF by the way !!
  5. I went in there one Sunday lunchtime and the girls were sitting down having food so one told her daughter to service me. I looked at her and left PDQ !
  6. I have just logged into my Government Gateway Account and next year I will be entitled to 140 quid a week (560 quid/4 weeks) because the qualifying period increased after I stopped contributing - bastards. With my Army Pension (which is indexed linked) I'll get 1.200 quid a month. Plenty to live off here but no way in UK ..
  7. Your eyesight is far far better than mine .... can you see the number plate? .. Lottery in a week's time ...
  8. I know f**k all about cars but my only guess is that it is a front wheel drive and the chassis was a badly done cut and shut. Daft c**t driving it too...!!
  9. Shit yeh! He owned the bar upstairs too. Beer chang happy hours, every day 4pm till 8pm. All the beer chang you can drink for 100 baht (brown bottle looney juice)
  10. 1. Star of Light 2. The bar just the other side of the bar that stuck out was my Patpong regular haunt. My record in there was 3 nights/ 4 days. I got back to my room and saw on the news that Princess Di had just died. 3. But my absolute favourite was Doug's Isaan restaurant on Soi Rangnam. Guaranteed a laugh and a story from Doug. I lived (and worked!) nearby and regularly staggered home from there. This was when Santiphap Park was just wasteland.
  11. Yep, it dropped quite a lot at the beginning of the week but recovered.... Something to do with Leo passing through Uranus or some such thing ....
  12. You may be correct but in my head it was "Hand Rock Bar" . This was before Blues Factory was opened around 97 I guess .. My only reference with time is the girl that I was with ..... I met her in the cake shop that used to be behind Kiss.. so it must have been around that era ..
  13. There is some very good information in this thread, thanks. I realise that I'm asking a question about private matters but as it is related to the Government pension rather than a private pension I'll crack on with the question anyway! What was the increase in pension paid from 2005 to the new pension rate this year ?? EDIT = Google says that it is 55 quid a week difference!! I honestly didn't expect it to be that much ! That's about 10,000 Baht a Month !!
  14. Before Blues Factory opened there was a bar in front it called "Hand Rock Bar" with live music and pretty girls. Great place !!!
  15. One of my favourites too... During "normal" red zone lockdown it would have been the only NWG establishment open .......😉
  16. Apart from emergency use at ATMs, I have used my CC twice:- - We were having a bit of a party, kids and all, so I went online to Pizza Hut to get a bunch of stuff delivered. Worked perfectly - FBWU told me about Decathlon shoe shop but North Pattaya was just too bloody far to walk in flip flops (I needed trainers and sandals - Duh!). So I went online and ordered 2 pairs for delivery. Again it worked perfectly!
  17. Flat Prosecco is how I describe my current favourite drink to those that ask - Siam Sato. A box of 12 large ones for 290 baht !
  18. More than 15 years ago now my Mum flew out to see me for a holiday. She was 85 at the time. Her 3 favourites are my 3 favourites... who am I to argue with such a wonderful woman...!!!! Toy bar on the corner of Soi 3 and Second road. Down a couple of steps into the comfy chairs listening to the live band. She was treated like a queen by the girls and she absolutely loved getting up to dance!! All long gone now I'm afraid! PBG She loved it in there, especially when the covers came down when the storms hit! Moom Arroy This was in the afternoon when it was quite quiet with no tourist coaches ... and in the days when they had a decent selection of wine (and when I could afford it!). So bloody relaxing. No rush to kick you out...Just supping bottle after bottle of wine and hours of snacking on seafood. All wonderful memories of time spent with my Mum !
