  1. I feel for the guy; I am just recovering from Shingles and it was bloody unpleasant. Have not been to the gym for almost 4 weeks, although have done quite a few walks into town etc. Will hopefully go to the gym on Tuesday but Shingles can last 4-6 weeks although the pain will reduce. It's a virus, so he will have to deal with the pain by taking pain killers, if needed. Hopefully the hospital will have given him Zovirax ointment to put on. As a virus I hope they haven't given him anti biotics to make money, they can not treat a virus. As much as Shingles is not contagious, if someone comes into contact with the sores then they can get the herpes virus which can later give chicken pox or Shingles, best to sleep separately and use personal towels etc. Sweating through exercise, or just the heat, can make the condition worse, should not exert himself.
  2. My brother sent me a couple of photos from Mammoth, California, whilst on his skiing trip. The other day saw a pretty bad day, but today, as he was leaving to drive to Los Angeles, the weather is beautiful. He has had mostly good skiiing days though.
  3. Maybe there is a red flag but can't think why, my name is not common and I have never been stopped by immigration or been asked any questions. Once by customs, who did take my passport away to check (probably to see if I was on a sex offenders data base having traveled often around Asia) but never been in trouble otherwise. My photo is a bloody good reflection of an old man of 68 who hasn't changed at all since i was 65 when the picture was taken, never had a rinse in my grey old hair. Just one of those things although, if I remember rightly, the guy at the desk did say if you put your passport in the scanner slightly wrong or wrong way up first try, before eventually placing it correctly, it may prevent the scanner from letting you through. That was immigration's take on it anyway.
  4. Been watching some of the fan reaction to Chelsea beating Man U last night, I am having a great time. There is another one which is mainly from Africa and it's great but over 24 minutes long. This one will do for me.
  5. My favourite place in Hua Hin to eat with family, such a great selection. I tend to sit at the other end away from the stage, can get a bit noisy for me sometimes.
  6. My new passport won't let me through the automatic gates, always get sent to a desk for manual check. Got my new passport in July 2021 (it's a blue one). Maybe if it gets flagged once, it will always be flagged. Maybe too many journeys to Thailand or Philippines. I once got my passport checked by customs who, on seeing I had been to the Philippines about 4 times in the year, must have thought I was a dodgy character. Maybe it's just a legacy of old that needs further checks but it is a bloody pain.
  7. My brain is telling me that she/he shouldn't turn around, I might then just pretend to be looking at the lovely cakes lol
  8. Just realised I should have put the 100th and 101st minute....lol Supposedly latest goals scored in a Premiership game.
  9. Shocked to see Chelsea auditioning for a magic show and pulling a rabbit out of the hat, I mean two goals in the 110th and 111th minutes to win a game 4 v 3 when being 2 v 3 down after 109 minutes. Great result but you could see Eric the red was not happy with how his team let the lead slip. Basically two teams with up and down seasons. Just up for Chelsea today, probably down in next game. Premier League is amazing though.
  10. Probably the most frightening experience of my life in July 1990 in the Philippines. I was in the Philippine Airline Office in Manila when the earthquake struck. The whole place felt like it was coming down, the girl serving us leapt across the desk and was out the door. There was a rush for the door and some just went through the plate glass doors as air cons were flying off the building and nearly hitting us as we made it to the street which was rippling with cars sliding to a halt. The buildings were swaying as if they were going to hit each other. I felt completely useless, just had to wait it out. Needed a few drinks after that but the aftershocks kept coming, I just headed later for the bars where even going to the toilet (in Superstar) was a chore, trying to aim at a metal basin that was going from side to side with drink inside was quiet a difficult task. It was really a nasty experience that I wish never to repeat. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/1990_Luzon_earthquake
  11. Just for our North American members, Philippine Airlines are adding Seattle to their flight schedule from October 2024. The link offers some all the info: https://www.philippineairlines.com/en/newsevent-listingpage/press-releases-statements/philippine-airlines-to-launch-manila-seattle-route-in-october-2024#:~:text=Philippine Airlines (PAL) will launch nonstop flights between, leisure travel of U.S. residents to the Philippines.
  12. For anybody who is thinking of traveling Finnair, they are offering a great Avios deal right now. Got to be quick though. Seems a bloody good deal if wanting to get extra Avios for that trip. https://loyaltylobby.com/2024/04/03/finnair-plus-first-avios-sale-with-up-to-70-bonus-through-april-17-2024/ https://www.finnair.com/en/finnair-plus/buy--transfer-or-exchange-avios
  13. For anybody who likes the street art in Hua Hin (and maybe there now), there is a special meet at the Centara Hotel on the 07th April to meet Khun Joe, with the option to purchase a creation.
  14. Great pic but the arms, head and boobs look out of sync lol. I do get asked whether I want to continue to see pics like the one above in my feed, of course I say yes and they keep coming.
  15. If it is Soi Nittapat (Soi Boxing) it should be open at night but, like many things, times change.
  16. Boxing Street is the main bar area. Also most of the available girls are from Laos and quite friendly. Chat with mama sometimes is a good idea as many don't speak English. Stayed at Mut Mee a few times. Their car park is so bloody small, 2 cars there already and you park in the street.
  17. Soi Boxing (Soi Nittapat) is the street for drinking, a good few bars there. Has a few restaurants, a great Italian and an Aussie place that does good breakfasts. If you tell a taxi driver, take me to Soi Boxing, they will know where you want to go. Of course a walk along the Mekong promenade between the market (Tha Sadet) and the Mut Mee hotel has a few places to have a quiet drink. A few places also on the road just parallel to the promenade are Ok for a quiet drink. The Mut Mee is a lovey place to sit and drink with a great view over the Mekong and the Friendship bridge.
  18. In a crazy house with 2 Thais eating and drinking while having the Karaoke on volume 11. Despite telling them to keep it down, it stays at a ridiculous level so I thought, I am not driving today, therefore get the wine out. Drank half a bottle over the last 2 days so drinking what's left. I do have 2 more bottles, if I freak out, but hopefully another poor husband is coming to pick his wife up soon. Lucky bastard has had 2 days of silence and bliss, now he can have his wife back.
  19. Some may have become quite suicidal before they ever got to the end of that story and seen those little buggers laughing lol
  20. What's the date today ha ha
  21. Just noticed that if you like a few things on Facebook then your feed gets filled with subjects you like. I now seem to get anything airline, classic films and wall to wall pics of big breasted women. Also noted that Ai is generating a hell of a lot of photos of people like Gal Gadot, Salma Hayek and Nicole Scherzinger. The ones of Gal Gadot are lovely but so obviously AI. Difficult to open the feed now in front of my daughter lol
  22. Just been to Morrisons to buy 3 bottles of 19 Crimes Red for £18, not a bad deal.
  23. That bar used be run by a girl who was the cashier previously at the Rockhouse. Can't remember her name but she had a very large chest and I think she was running it for the owner when he was away. I remember her when she was working also as a cleaner in the Scandinavian bar right across the back of the 'Best Friend Complex' on Beach road. Last saw her in a bar in Hua Hin a few years back but she was a friendly girl. It does seem a nice bar with comfortable chairs. Not a lover of billabong myself.
  24. I looked at some of those rates for Pattaya and Hua Hin, even Surat Thani pier, they are very competitive. Quite surprised, thought they would be higher.
  25. Wetherspoon, Neath, had a nice Porter on today, worth the walk into town. Supped 2 pints over a leisurely 3 hour stay. A lovely beer.
