  1. Soi Boxing (Soi Nittapat) is the street for drinking, a good few bars there. Has a few restaurants, a great Italian and an Aussie place that does good breakfasts. If you tell a taxi driver, take me to Soi Boxing, they will know where you want to go. Of course a walk along the Mekong promenade between the market (Tha Sadet) and the Mut Mee hotel has a few places to have a quiet drink. A few places also on the road just parallel to the promenade are Ok for a quiet drink. The Mut Mee is a lovey place to sit and drink with a great view over the Mekong and the Friendship bridge.
  2. In a crazy house with 2 Thais eating and drinking while having the Karaoke on volume 11. Despite telling them to keep it down, it stays at a ridiculous level so I thought, I am not driving today, therefore get the wine out. Drank half a bottle over the last 2 days so drinking what's left. I do have 2 more bottles, if I freak out, but hopefully another poor husband is coming to pick his wife up soon. Lucky bastard has had 2 days of silence and bliss, now he can have his wife back.
  3. Some may have become quite suicidal before they ever got to the end of that story and seen those little buggers laughing lol
  4. What's the date today ha ha
  5. Just noticed that if you like a few things on Facebook then your feed gets filled with subjects you like. I now seem to get anything airline, classic films and wall to wall pics of big breasted women. Also noted that Ai is generating a hell of a lot of photos of people like Gal Gadot, Salma Hayek and Nicole Scherzinger. The ones of Gal Gadot are lovely but so obviously AI. Difficult to open the feed now in front of my daughter lol
  6. Just been to Morrisons to buy 3 bottles of 19 Crimes Red for £18, not a bad deal.
  7. That bar used be run by a girl who was the cashier previously at the Rockhouse. Can't remember her name but she had a very large chest and I think she was running it for the owner when he was away. I remember her when she was working also as a cleaner in the Scandinavian bar right across the back of the 'Best Friend Complex' on Beach road. Last saw her in a bar in Hua Hin a few years back but she was a friendly girl. It does seem a nice bar with comfortable chairs. Not a lover of billabong myself.
  8. I looked at some of those rates for Pattaya and Hua Hin, even Surat Thani pier, they are very competitive. Quite surprised, thought they would be higher.
  9. Wetherspoon, Neath, had a nice Porter on today, worth the walk into town. Supped 2 pints over a leisurely 3 hour stay. A lovely beer.
  10. Yes, I was rather shocked, but took an advance visit to Hua Hin immigration and posed that question. Was told no problem on a 30 day exempt visa. Being free was also a bonus. I had previously been told by an agent on Soi 94 that I needed a Non O visa and to have residence in Hua Hin. Immigration even advised me that staying in hotel for 9 days was also acceptable. I was a happy boy.
  11. Yes, I did benefit from getting my licence in September 2023, it ran out in July 2023 (my birthday). I thought they were going to just give me 5 years from that July, but they gave me new licences valid from September 2023 plus 5 years from this July (2024), so runs out in July 2029. Almost 6 years validity. Not bad for a non resident on a 30 day exempt visa and with residence at Initial Condo Hotel, staying only 9 nights in the country.
  12. Now that is a breakfast. Have to say I have never been disappointed with their breakfasts when staying at Heathrow. Went to one in Merthyr Tydfil and it was an order to table but those at Heathrow are 'help yourself' buffets and that makes them amazing value.
  13. Glad you got it all sorted. The differences for me in Hua Hin (Pranburi) was that I watched the video at the centre (55 mins), spent 5 mins doing the practical inhouse tests. I also got 2 resident certificates (1 for bike, 1 for car) free of charge. That saved a bit of money, although had to wait 48 hours to pick up. Presume you also got 5 years from your next birthday?.
  14. May try that next time (likely summer '25) but Kataleya will be 10 by then. Must admit I will probably be kissing the floor that I am in Thailand, so if we don't get ushered (even if after asking), I will still have a smile on my face. I am sure you are really happy to be in the LOS, well envious....
  15. Very tragic event but probably going to cause mayhem with the need for many to get to work. Looking at a map of Baltimore, it does look like that bridge was a saviour for many to get about; looks like detours for many during rush hour and basic traffic chaos for months, if not longer.
  16. If it does, it will give you another photo opportunity lol
  17. Glad you arrived safely. Got to admit that on all the occasions I have traveled through immigration, with Kataleya, not once have I been ushered through Fast Track. Possibly I have arrived and the immigration area hasn't been too busy and just went with the flow. Can't remember it being really busy at any time but it seems you get ushered at all times, you are not getting your little one to kick ankles are you?
  18. I bet you won't be using that ferry company again then lol
  19. It was so rich, I cold only get through a small slice. Both Kataleya and Porn want me to make another for her birthday but I am under strict instructions to make the biscuit and butter base thicker. I would probably prefer a slightly less heart trembling cheesecake but they loved the Millionaire's version.
  20. Had to add more photos here due max file size
  21. Kataleya wanted me to make a cheesecake so I had a first time go. It is a white chocolate millionaire's cheesecake; all I know is, it is bloody rich with fat and sugar, not a good heart partner.
  22. Looks good value for the price; never eaten there as I usually eat at Irish Clock or the Pannarai Hotel across the road.
  23. The school holidays are my curse, as to travel any other time requires my wife to take time off for me. There will come a time when Kataleya can let herself in/out of the house and mummy will be back later, but that time is a few years away (she is only 9 next Sunday).
  24. Blimey, Bobby's Arms, there's a bar from my nostalgic past. Had many a good night around that area.
  25. I agree, especially if it starts to happen on flights to Bangkok lol
