  1. Money refunded last night, all of it. Stuff like refunds, getting luggage back, even just being able to call and talk to a human, EVA are good at. It's just s shame they're always late now, and you then have the potential to arrive with no luggage. Rebooked with Thai, better times, less worry and cheaper. I don't really care if food a bit better on EVA or service. As long as it's edible, and service is okay, i'm more interested in getting from A to B with as less stress as possible.
  2. MASH, with my favourite Tranny. And not a sitcom, but loved Dave Allen, back in the days when smoking and drinking whiskey was acceptable on TV lol
  3. Was our anthem growing up in Northern Ireland. Have a read of this from the Harp Bar, about SLF playing the Bataclan after those Islamist terrorist scum slaughtered so many people in it a few years ago. The parallels to Northern Ireland in those days. Kinda guessing Terri Hooley might have wrote it, but not sure - All hail to Stiff Little Fingers for playing in Paris last night...where last Friday 13th November 129 people were killed by terrorists, 89 of those at The Bataclan music Club. I get so angry at times when I think back to the desolate streets of Belfast in the 70's when the IRA's bombing campaign bombed our wee city to bits and made it a ghost town every night for 35 years! To watch on the news how yet another bomb blasts the city centre shattering the future of a people who became prisoners in their own homes while the rest of Europe enjoyed a healthy city lifestyle of music, entertainment and fun whilst we were robbed of it! If I could sue the IRA I would for not letting my generation have the same but we endured it for 35 years with a resilience that would shape our lives forever. Yes. 35 years !! We were the only youth in Western Europe who couldn't play in their own city.. It was an abomination back then and should never happen again... in any city!! What right do the terrorists have to dictate and destroy peoples lives and future!! I didn't want to spend my youth living in a ghetto listening to c&w music at the local social club where they passed round the hat at the end of the night for the cause!!! I was one of the lucky ones who found a group of friends who rebelled against the war on terror back then and found a little light in one of the darkest streets in Belfast that changed everything. Likewise All hail to those who had the courage back then to resist the paramilitaries way of life and found punk at the Harp Bar...where TV crews all over Europe came to visit a club which not only had some of the best punk bands in the world but also stood for resilience and courage. SLF have now demonstrated the very essence of that Northern Ireland punk attitude to the world. The shouts of 'Thank You' they heard at the start of their gig are only too familiar to what we thought back in the day when The Stranglers, The Clash and Siouxsie came to play Belfast while others stayed away... Last night Jake said to the fans 'the world has you in its heart' at this moment, that's all that is required! (as for that idiot Julian Cope.. Don't even go there!!) rant over Lol!
  4. Seen them loads of times growing up. They're playing Belfast later this year again - https://www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/entertainment/music/news/stiff-little-fingers-punk-rockers-to-play-major-belfast-show-this-year/a1263881879.html Jake done an acoustic set with Ruffy and Segs from Ruts DC, and Kirk from Theatre of Hate at the Empire last week. The done classics like Suspect device, and Staring at the Rude Boys. Few of my mates went, stuck loads of videos from it on Facebook.
  5. What a version, great vocals. Moby very under rated as well.
  6. Yea, they confirmed they will refund my total payment, no fees, and also reinstate my airmiles. It was just a speculative email by myself, as i noticed Thai were now £300 cheaper. Plus Thai flying back at night suits us more, as our daughter will sleep most of it, and i'll save another £100 for a night in Pullman as we'll leave at 10pm that night, instead of stay at the hotel an extra night, up early, go to Swampy. So well happy all in all, saved £400 and better timing for us going home, less chance of delays or no luggage.
  7. Wow! Got an email back from EVA saying for me to confirm i wanted a full refund from them, and then it would be processed in 7 working days. Didn't mention anything about a refund fee, refund minus penalty or anything like that. So i sent back yes i want to confirm i want a full refund, as long as there is no refund fee, i get exactly what i paid (i gave the amount) and it's penalty free and get my used airmiles reinstated. Please confirm? So, just waiting. It is EVA who changed the flight times, it's now different to what i booked, so i though i'd try, though still a bit surprised, hence me sending a reconfirm the confirm lol. Just checked my flight status, nothing changed as yet.
  8. Been a schedule change on my EVA flight in July, now arrives 25mins later, 3.30pm instead of 3.05pm. Sent them an email saying can i cancel and get a full refund penalty free, please? I doubt it, but trying anyway. Combination of Thai is now near £300 cheaper, and chances of delay is less. Don't think they'll say yes, but email sent anyway.
  9. Spitting image of her Da
  10. And that's why i picked Thai Air to fly next month. EVA are terrible for that now, whomever is at fault for it, EVA, Swampy or whatever. Thing is, if it's too late they might send you without luggage, as happened me last Easter. And they don't tell you until you arrive and are waiting by the luggage belt! Then they tell you, and say had they waited for luggage to be loaded, they couldn't have flown as it was that late.
  11. Wishing i'd have put money on the Fury fight not happening. Was the biggest cert!
  12. Can now say we're off to Thailand next month. Can't say i've ever noticed much smog anywhere apart from Bangkok. I do enjoy getting to Krabi after the grime and pollution of Bangers.
  13. Thing is as well, if someone came back to Thailand after 10 or 15 years, they would notice absolutely loads of changes. Attitudes of Thais, demographics of people now coming to Thailand, cost, so many different things. Some would dislike the changes, some would like them, dependant on their views, what they use Thailand for. Change is constant, no matter where ...
  14. Priorities There's 2 pubs within 5 mins walk, one an Irish bar, one a kinda more upmarket Sports bar that does nice food as well. And if you walked 10mins, you have an abundance of bars, one even has a Thai kitchen. You'd be fine
  15. I think it must be different in different areas. I went to my dentist to book a cleaning appointment on Monday, was seen half an hour ago. It was just a clean, there was no rush anyway, Band 2, deep clean. I can call up my GP's in the morning, get speaking to a GP on the phone that day, if they deem it necessary, an in person appointment that day or next. I really like my daughter's school, it's so much better in so many ways in how and what they teach than from when i was at primary school. They have the parents so much more involved. They notice and pick up on things really well with pupils, put in place plans to help. While when i was at school if you weren't good a certain subject or whatever, then you just weren't, that was it. My daughter's school is a great mix of ethnicities and religions and none. There are Jewish, Muslim, Buddhist, Christian etc, there are Bangladeshi, Vietnamese, Somali, Irish, English, Polish, lots mixed race kids etc, just like in the world. I could have got her into an about 75% white primary school, we're in the middle catchment of that one as well. But i didn't want her to go to a school which is too much top heavy in one demographic. I get people are pissed off with the boats coming, but as much as it's illegal, and i would want it stopped. It's not even double figures in percentage wise of immigration to the UK. It's legal immigration that's causing the big figures, of which i and others on this forum would be part of the legal immigration numbers via our wives. So when people complain it's getting too hard to get wives in or keep them here, then complain about immigration, you can't have it both ways if the Gov tries to curtail it. But it suits the Tories to scream about the 8% illegals or whatever, so it distracts people from the other 92% they allow in legally. But as said, it depends where you are. As much as i like getting away from the big city, find it therapeutic. The benefits of living here are many, such as the many varied opportunities for me and my family, the relative ease to get medical related appointments etc. Like in Northern Ireland the NHS is a basket case, although due partly from having on government for 2 years. Maybe many more rural areas are the same. I would move from here if money was not an issue to maintaining the same standard of living, education, access to healthcare etc we current have. If and when i can retire, i would still keep this place on, and do 'long trips' so can keep the address specifically for said reasons. But the timing is okay at the moment, when that would come, the education and age would be pretty much be less my responsibility, and more on what my daughter would want to do at that stage. But everyone's situation and priorities are different, the above is just mine. Doesn't mean it's right for anyone else, just currently right for me/us.
  16. That's why i purposely booked Thai for next month, my last 2 flights with EVA have been quite stressful, one time never even got luggage till next day. Though to be fair, the last trip was Heathrow's fault, a breakdown on a luggage belt, not EVA.
  17. Disappointed! Opened this excepting to see proof of Martians or similar.
