I guess I've been fortunate. I always go get the bank letter the day before. I bring all the forms and copies printed and signed. The most that ever happens is that they add something like an acknowledgement of the penalties for overstay for me to sign, and I'm generally in and out in under 30 minutes. It helps that my medical emergency fund is well over 800K and is always there, untouched for years. I do route my incoming spending money through that account so they can see activity on the account.

When I was a kid after a move our new phone number was the same as my birthday in DDMYYYY format.

The restaurant on the beach is below The restaurant on the beach is about 4km southwest of the pier, it's in Ban Phe district but not in the town. The other restaurant I showed on the river is in Muang Rayong, around 20 km west of Ban Phe.

I'm disappointed to report I was incorrect. We had been going to the beaches in Muang Rayong. Today we went to our favorite seafood place on the beach in Ban Phe. It turns out the entire Mae Ramphueng beach has been closed and is still closed.
-
Um. Lots of beaches never closed. The ones in Rayong didn't.

I've been there a few times, but I have to laugh at the term "cool" (yes, I understand the slang). It's a very interesting market but I was bathing in sweat by the end of my visits.

Back when I was working I traveled a lot and the company let us keep our miles. I ended up with a gold card for an airline in each of the alliances, which increases miles. As I advanced in the company I rated business class trips, which gives even more miles. At one point I had well over a million miles. TW and I enjoyed many free business class trips back to Thailand. We used them up by the time I retired, but I haven't left Thailand in nearly six years so I don't miss them. After the kids came along we flew economy anyway.

They're open in Rayong.

I'd wait to call off the dispute until the funds show up. 10-12 business weeks. Sheesh.

I'm definitely the opposite on e-books. I used to lug 4-5 books with me on a 1 month trip to LOS, and still had to pick up some more in country. To be fair, I don't sleep on aircraft so from Texas that's one book each way. Since the kindle came out I've got hundreds of books at my finger tips and when I want a new one here it's in my kindle within a few minutes of ordering. Interestingly, they still charge Texas sales tax on books due to my credit card billing address, even though the few physical orders I've made with them over the last few years have gone to Thailand and aren't taxed.

When we lived up country Lazada was a must. Now during the lock down it is again.

Not if they suspect they had corona virus. In that case the cause would be corona virus.

Now hopefully the Governors go along.

The numbers are from open sources, and indicate how localized the US problem is. Here's another one: https://usafacts.org/visualizations/coronavirus-covid-19-spread-map/ Click the "DEATHS" tab on the first "Coronavirus in the States" image.

I found this kind of interesting: Deaths per capita US as a whole vs just the NYC area (listed as Downstate New York). US as a whole (including NYC): Belgium (470.51) Spain (428.68) Italy (376.19) France (286.53) United Kingdom (228.28) Netherlands (210.86) Switzerland (155.29) United States (112.04) Ireland (107.34) Portugal (67.37) NYC area: Downstate New York (848.45) Belgium (470.51) Spain (428.68) Italy (376.19) France (286.53) United Kingdom (228.28) Netherlands (210.86) Switzerland (155.29) Sweden (149.61) Ireland (107.34) Article here: https://pjmedia.com/trending/heres-how-much-downstate-new-york-is-skewing-the-united-states-coronavirus-numbers/?utm_source=pjmedia&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=nl_pm&newsletterad=&bcid=bb7d91b7498b0d30d970b016a036e6a5&recip=26652605

I've inventoried the liquor cabinet. By my calculations I'm going to end up having to drink the Tequila I keep around for folks who like it, which I don't 😒

Well, without publishing it, the local store tells us the alcohol ban is extended to the end of the month in Rayong.

Firefox. Around 10-11 am. I also had to hit refresh, and it told me it was approved. Explorer was locking up.

I tried doing my 90 day online a couple times but the website kept locking up. Then yesterday I tried again and it came back immediately approved. I printed out the next appointment slip and I'm good 'til July now.

Kind of the Governor to give advance notice. In Rayong they shut it down immediately for 2 weeks. No warning or chance to stock up. I'm guessing it's to make sure no one tries to go ahead with Songkran parties even though the holiday has been officially delayed.

Ow, I'm late to the party as usual. Happy belated birthday wishes Larry. Good to see you online as well, Phil. I hope you're hanging in there.

I just want to say: I'm mainly reading 3 Thai boards. But the mixture of solid information, piss-taking (if I used that term correctly), some fun, and personal anecdotes make this one my favorite. Cheers y'all!
