  1. Great info and as I don’t bother with booze on planes or pre departure that would suit me. Only issue is I have other family travellers with me so until such a point as I travel alone ( or just myself and the wife) premium economy does us. That said when I do get older and if I fly alone when the Mrs spends more time in Thailand, a cheaper, direct or non direct BC will be in order to make a very long journey pleasant.
  2. The process was easy - as before and as others have shared. Pre booked appointment for 11am. All forms filled at home and passports etc in hand plus the obligatory cash money for the fees. I wanted to arrive early and did so at 10.00 and as usual for thai civic offices, did the temperature face scan and we took an electronic queue ticket. It was a fairly busy , well orgs used but brightly lit basement office and the wait was short. Friendly and helpful staff bit as my wife is well versed and well prepared it went smoothly and we departed shortly before 11.00. A short walk around the corner for a coffee and a cake ( no cap), we were on our way back to Richmond by 12.30 to justify me not driving all the way into the Embassy I can confirm that the. 2 x Ubers cost me £45. The park on my drive in Richmond £l2.70 for the day so with no extra fuel it cost me £57.70. If you compare that with the £15 congestion charge plus parking and fuel I reckon it cost me about £20 more to do it ‘my way’. I was happy with that Fuel £40 @ 43mpg in my diesel XC90 so not too shabby £57.70 on Uber / parking Total £97.70 plus a nice mooch around Richmond Riverside / high street for 2 hours A decent day out from 0700 to 1530 achieved what we wanted snd a simple process with, touch wood, no glitches. *I’m not good at taking photos*
  3. What a day of contrasts weather wise. At 0700 Bristol was freezing at 0 degrees with the windscreen needing defrosting. In contrast, london and Richmond were at 14 degrees ( felt much hotter) and sunny. Immediately outside was a private plated Merc. Must have been the big cheese at the embassy
  4. But has she got a Curry named after her in the local restaurant? 😎😂
  5. I’ll bring me budgie smugglers in that case 😂
  6. That sounds very similar to our experience in London but the last one was 5 years ago so lets see if anything's changed
  7. This rather grand (and stupidly expensive I would imagine) piece of prime London real estate was misleading for our previous visits as you are ushered by way of some signage into the basement area and into the scrum of Thai / foreigners dealing with passport matters.
  8. I'm heading to the Thai Embassy in South Kensington with my wife and Son next week to renew their Passports so will hopefully provide some detail on this thread as to the process, success, ease of use etc which maybe help others. I'm not a fan of driving in London so will head up in my car and park in Richmond, then get Train/Uber into South Ken first thing in the morning and after the business part of the day, head back to Richmond for a mooch around before heading home.
  9. That’s a good shout. The reason for the 8th December leave date is because my son finishes school on that date so it works perfectly to make the 9.30pm flights from Heathrow
  10. Great photos would like to visit
  11. Cheers that’s useful advice. Kayak is a good option 👍
  12. I’m after some advice and this is possibly a ‘crystal ball’ type of question but I’ll ask anyway. I’m looking at a trip for 3 of us 8th December to 2nd January and have been looking since Jan this year. Really want a direct flight but these are coming in at £1100 - £1400 per person in Economy. Are there any dates when flight prices change and in my case likely to go down. In price or is this the new price which we will have to put up with ?
  13. These are the things that really annoy me. Seems to have worsened since loads of staff now work from home ( in some cases work from pub or work whilst on holiday but should be working)
  14. Took my son to his first professional rugby game at Bristol . An easy win against Quins cheeky little fry up for Brunch and a crap pic of Joe Marler great game to watch
  15. In Birmingham shopping 😩 now stopped for a bite to eat
  16. Just an aside, I renewed my 5-year licences last April and had an arsey lady tell me I couldn’t get another 5-year as my visa was only a visitor/ on entry so she gave me 2 years
  17. Saw on a wall in Bristol which has lots of graffiti / street art !
  18. Just seen this van which made me chuckle - May have to scroll in
  19. Brilliant writing, really descriptive and brought it to light. You sure are a great one for teasing us who are not in the City but wish we were. Sounds like all of you enjoyed it. 👍
  20. What am I listening to this week…..a load of fecking whinging folk which is really getting on my tits. Can’t wait for Friday to come around 🤬
  21. Big fan of a combo of both tiger balm and naman muay
  22. I’ve always been a massive fan of Fiat cars and in my teens and twenties I owned loads - £31k for a 500 is steep though !
  23. Not that I’m advocating gambling but that’s hardly a deterrent- is that the norm ?
