  1. Thanks, your post is actually far more helpful than any stats on the efficacy of the drugs. I've pretty decided I'm going to take them. A little part of me is railing against it thinking I'll exercise more, drink less and eat better. Same as yourself really. Point taken.
  2. Would you recall by any chance what sort of percentage reduction in cholesterol the tablets had achieved?
  3. Thanks for that. If nothing else it's been a wake up call to improve the diet and keep going with the exercise. Appreciate the details on the side effects and dosage. The info I was given quantified possible muscular issues. It mentioned bowel issues but didn't quantify the risk.
  4. Been offered statins by my doctor's surgery apparently my cardiovascular risk is high. Have a consultation booked with a doctor. Disappointing as on no medication at present. But think I'll take them, im not a young man anymore!! Still back into a steady exercise regimen so not all bad. Anyone have experience of Statins?
  5. Agree, saw it this morning shed an awful lot of light on how football clubs accounts work. It did make me feel naive thinking Financial Fair Play would bring a level playing field. So Newcastle, Man City or Chelsea step out of line and they get a fine. Which either a Sovreign state or a Billionaire picks up.
  6. Don't know if you are in BKK much but this retail beer warehouse got a mention in this week's Stickman column. 60 Baht for an Adnams Broadside (got to buy 12), but plenty of others if you explore the links on the site. https://beverage.zippbike.com/collections/imported-beer
  7. Jeez your worse than FatboyTim when it comes to kicking a man when he's down😉 As your pals would say- may you live in interesting times!!!!
  8. Think I need to revisit the Last Waltz, saw it years back when I would have been too young too appreciate it. Much to my embarrassment I had no idea Robbie had produced the soundtrack on many of the Scorcese films including the amazing Raging Bull. What a talent!
  9. Have a feeling there may be branch near you. Sitting on it before buying is definitely the way forward( or forwards and backwards I guess!)
  10. Decathlon is the answer for most sporting goods. https://www.decathlon.co.uk/p/folding-rowing-machine-100/_/R-p-305160?mc=8527501 £160 for their own brand, foldable machine with decent reviews.
  11. Against my better judgement have signed up for another season! Team name: Phoenix Park Casuals
  12. Had to Google that beer, not seen it before. 7% !!! Any good?
  13. A decent low alcohol beer, waiting on a train.
  14. Have had the same experience with Agoda, where the cost of the room has increased during a single browser session. I've have though got some great deals off them booking in Thailand. Obviously not your experience. I wanted to book the Dream hotel in BKK for early October, hardly high season. Asking price booking from the UK was running at 50% a night higher than BMs have mentioned on here!!! Switched back to a direct booking with the Dynasty Grande, and it was 1400 BAHT a night cheaper than the Dream, or whatever it's now called. Happy to pay for quality but not for rip off pricing!
  15. I'd agree the majority of flavoured beers I find are a letdown. Most brewers for me have a core set of beers or even a single beer in some cases that they do fantastically well. Once they veer off their core compentence, results can be very mixed. It's great that small brewers do experiment and create different products but they tend to be overdone. One golden exception is Brass Castle Brewery near me, pretty much everything they do is excellent. If you see one buy it!!
  16. The Choclate OP was one-off colllaboration between the 2 brewers- it was wonderful. Look forward to a coffee Chang come autumn. Perfect for the early morning drinker😀
  17. Definitely book the bus in advance, I used this link https://airporthuahinbus.com/ Several people were trying to buy a ticket for the bus I was booked on as a walk up, only to be told it was sold out. You will get a much better rate for cash in the basement at the airport than the money changer at Market Village will give you. I used a debit card outside of the bars, where I did you cash. I bank in the UK and even HSBC have managed to come up with a foreign card (Global Money Account) that was giving a fee free rate that was better than the more competitive cash changers.
  18. No photos so maybe it didn't happen! Had a couple of these tonight, would have traditionalists turning in their graves but it was lovely
  19. I had no idea fish came that big!! What on earth has that pig/fish been feeding on?
  20. @john luke out of interest where specifically was the sign banning lound noise and urination?
  21. Stayed on Soi 94 back in March, I'd agree with @Stillearly on Le Pub. For my breakfast/coffee I love Ying's Cafe on Soi 94 across and over the railroad tracks. Super friendly, great coffee, cakes and sandwiches, didn't try the Thai food. Found the bars in HH to be a bit underwhelming to tell the truth. Love HH as a good place to chill out, but all of the hostess bars in my view can be safely avoided. You really won't be missing too much.
  22. Had the same in November last year- labyrinthithis. Woke up one Sunday monring and the whole room was spinning around, and wouldn't stop. Didn't leave my flat for 2 days, was a few weeks before I could walk properly again. Was relieved it past relatively quickly, it can linger for the unfortunate
  23. It's not a new book (2011) picked it up in my local library.
  24. Enjoying this music based memoir, very funny. @galenkia suspect you'd enjoy this.
