  1. The Doobie Brothers and Count 5 from San Jose, Calif.....pass me the bong!!!
  2. Well Cliff, when we hit Fashion Island Mall on a weekly basis, I am always "keen" on to what she likes you know? This particular bike at this bike store, she zeroed in on for some reason. Hey, you can spend 30k or more for one of the top grade bikes, this one was a steal at 2.5k baht. Plus, it has a basket and she can ride down to 7-11 to get me a quart of Milk to mix with my Protein Shakes LOL! Not sure if this house is over priced, we went inside it a few weeks ago as the realtor was showing it to a few people. Wifey was impressed, a full re-model, beautiful, inside and out and a huge lot. 5 BR 3BA. @lazarus As Matt can fully attest to, this is NOT The bay area where we come from. Exactly 1 year ago, my brother and I sold my parents home. Built in 1969 brand new, 4 BR 2 1/2 BA, 1,780 SQ ft home. My Brother and I had a contractor do some "basic" re-modeling that took 3 months, nothing fancy really. Nice neighborhood etc. Went on the "open market" Friday on the Multiple Listings, Sat/ Sun open house for all to see. I thought I was going to have to direct traffic! Sun night 7:00pm, we had 6 "Cash Offers" and we took the one that was $100k over listing price. Nice Korean couple bought it. He works for Google and she is a stay at home Mom to the 6 year old. Crazy is an understatement.
  3. Surprised wifey with a bike yesterday, my thanks to her for letting me have 2 nights out last week-end with the boys. She can "toodle" around the hood here in our neighborhood. I walk as she rides. I have yet to ever find a bike that the seat was comfortable. This home here has been up for sale since we arrived back here Oct 2022. Started at $8 Million Baht asking price, now down to $7 Million and still not sold.
  4. What is the overall recovery time for an all out hip replacement....as in, when do you actually feel better and can get on with life? I know it would vary from person to person, how bad it is etc. Nothing but the best going forward...
  5. Sorry I have to be the " village idiot" but as a Mod, he can no longer post day to day things?
  6. Honest to God, I do not know what to say here. I feel bad for some of the absolute "shite" some of you guys have to go through seriously. In my case, I only played Baseball through the Collegiate level, never played Football, Basketball, Soccer or any other sport, no Tennis, anything you know. I have by the good grace of the lord here, been able to lead a very good lifestyle. I can still jog 3 times per week, still weight train etc. I have never been hospitalized, never had any surgery. Yearly Physicals are all good, never taken ANY medication for anything, still don't. Asked the Dr. here in Jan after my physical if at age 67, if I should consider some sort of supplement for any reason and he said "No, for now, with your overall condition, just keep doing what you are doing" My Mom battled Cancer 3 times, which eventually got her, my Dad was a type 2 Diabetic, Renal Kidney Failure got him eventually. Check your ego at the door though, there are times at night when I think though, my time to deal with issues that might affect my life are coming. The question for me is, what are those going to be and because I have been so lucky in life ( Healthwise) are they going to be something that just can't be fixed and are possibly terminal? I am sure alot of you like me, have seen up close and personal some absolute horrific family members go through some terrible things that they have to go through before passing. In 1992, I saw up close and personal, my ex Mother-In-Law fight Pancreatic Cancer, it was brutal to say the least. I swear to God, I have told wifey and my kids, If I ever get to that point, I am going to find a way to off myself. I am NOT going to deal with that. Have fun while we still can... is my motto these days.
  7. Great experience for her Matt I would think being back in the mother land huh? She is taller then most adult women there for sure. By the way, WTF is this place? Terminal 21. Bloody Bunny?
  8. Fair analysis, but....seems to me and after talking to girls at Billboard and Thermae, 6K Lt is what they are asking. Now, as we all know, this is asking price, if you want to spend hours looking for a better price you can without question. My buddies took the girls from Billboard and they WOULD NOT take then less 6k, after they offered them 5k. They wanted them, so they got what they want. I, on the other hand, the girls I took from Thermae, were very average looking girls, not stunners by any stretch of the imagination and I gave both of them less, as we worked out a 3 hour deal for some fun with dinner and drinks on Soi 11.
  9. Can I go with you Alan? Jesus Christ Uriah Heep too? Saw them in 1973....yeah I'm old, get over it LOL! Should be good...77 Pounds is only $98 USA, that sounds pretty good to me..No?
  10. Hey Stu, we are getting alot of coverage about the absolute brutal heat Europe is getting. Seems Spain and Greece are at all time highs. How abut the other parts of Europe? Stay safe...
  11. Cliff, well since I was brought up Catholic, I take my marriage vows seriously, Miss Da will not be in the trophy case back home LOL! Hey, you know when I am on tour and have a few boys night out, I always find something for wifey. Well, how did I do? AC/DC shirt and a few "trinkets" from this gal from Terminal 21. Well Mr. Trip, did you actually think I was going to let these "noobs" show me up? The Veteran Rock Star I once was, still has some game. Not only did I go to Thermae after our second night out where I was "stiffed" once again as they took 2 stunners from Billboard. I didn't pull just 1 girl, I pulled 2 ..... Who's your Daddy? LOL! Pics and some stories soon. Great story Glass, it is kind of fun to see us older dudes still having fun in "fun town" after all of these years. God, with all the talent around these days still, hard to imagine anyone getting upset over 1 girl. I will assume it was the alcohol talking perhaps.
  12. Nursing a slight hangover, just had breakfast, feel a bit better LOL! Going to hit Lumpini Park to see if I can shake out some more cob-webs. 2 of my buddies arrived from USA Tues night. First time here for both of them. They are both married, told their wives they were going to Japan on a business trip! 57 and 60 year olds, they have been living the dream through my many pics/trip reports over the years, it was their time to finally get here. Staying at Tai Pan Hotel, Soi 23, had dinner last night at “Little Italy” hit Soi Cowboy and the rest is history. First stop Baccara, they did everything I told them NOT to do. Get inside, within 10 minutes they had bought their favorite girls 3 LD’s already! I will say though, the girls they took LT were fine, "young and stacked" I was left to fend for myself as they had the gals take them to Vertigo Skybar. 6k LT for each they told me. Ahhhh to be a “noob” again huh? I met this “hostess” dressed all in black outside. Well….I shouldn’t be talking shit, over the course of the next 3 hours, we had 8 drinks each…4 outside and 4 upstairs. 190 baht for me Sangsom/Coke, 290 baht for her Gin/Tonic. Upstairs she brought her “A” game, few snoggles and things were getting fun as she was quite buzzed. 32 years old, Miss Da was fun, even an aging former “rock star” like me can still live in the past right? She would have been a great shag…..no doubt about it. Will see what happens tonite……if I can find these guys LOL!
  13. Yep, just talked to wifey about this place, we have never discussed this island at all right? She just told me "You have to be careful there, alot of crime and violence for some reason" Sad day for this young guy and his parents and friends..hope they find the dirtbag who did this.
  14. Saw "Mission Impossible Dead Reckoning" last Sat night, sold out, dinner and the movie always works for us. I am going to offer my humble opinion, I have seen every Tom Cruise movie for over 30 years now. He is the greatest actor of my lifetime..bar none. The things this guy will do to set him apart from everyone else is mind blowing! I do not want to ruin this if you have not seen it yet, or even care, but in the first 5 minutes of this movie he does something that the Thais were screaming and clapping and stood up for...I kid you not. Even wifey said "Oiiii, I have never seen anyone do this here before" They love this guy here. I thought Led Zeppelin was coming onstage! This stunt took over a year to do, with all the training he had to endure and the number of times they had to do it to actually got it right tells you how dedicated this guy is to his craft.
  15. This guy Chatreeo is pretty well known on You Tube here for his Guitar reviews etc. The thing I find funny is that here and all of SE Asia, there are tons of “knock off’s” that very much resemble a Gibson Les Paul. Ok I get it, they can do it and they sell well. This particular one if you click on the link below in his video “Music Planet” sells for 3,690 Thai Baht = $108 USA?? Crazy, but my Son has a real Gibson Les Paul and it costs alot more for sure. But…I guess with Chatreeo, he gets these for free and does reviews and with him as you can see, he takes a $108 EKO Style P90 Guitar made in China and he can make it sound just like a real Les Paul. Granted he has some “special effects” that help….but still for $108 USA not bad. My Son told me alot of guys know who he is, even in USA. At 5:30-8:00 of this video, I like this particular sound he plays, but at 8:07- 10:07 is where he “makes his money” and he could have been the next Eddie Van Halen. Wifey tells me he has been given 113 different Guitars over the last 16 years to play and review….not a bad gig huh?
  16. You know, as I thought about getting in the "older guy" category, one might think that you kind of just not have as much fun anymore? I am happy to report that I seem to be the opposite. Just love doing things with wifey as a general rule. Having good health certainly helps I think, something I DO NOT take for granted. It's not easy these days, but well worth the effort.
  17. One of the all time greats for sure, this concert in 1977 was epic. The thing I found over the years when talking to people about this show, when they ask you "What was so great about Bowie?" It is kind of hard to explain, with him, it just wasn't the music, it was his presence, his style and way he delivered it with all his facial expressions, hand gestures, costume changes and this may sound silly, but the way he handled the microphone too. I think too having a very comfortable seat in the 3rd row, no one stood all night in front of us, and he was just mesmerizing. What a performer....top 5 concerts of all time for me. God, I miss the 70's, you know?
  18. Remember the movie Jaws? "I think you're going to need a bigger boat"? LOL!
  19. Personally I have never seen lightning strikes like this ever while here. Taken last Thursday, on the balcony of wifey's home. I am sure for those who have lived here a while perhaps have seen this, just not me to this extent. Pretty cool really.
  20. Agree, well done, not easy to lose weight is a major milestone for sure.
  21. I like how the Bangkok Post "sugar coats" the reason she might not be coming here, second worst traffic in all of SE Asia blah, blah, blah. Not enough infrastructure, the yellow line Skytrain is a 38 minute walk from the stadium. Yeah right? The real reason is the promoter does NOT want to remotely pay her what SHE wants per show etc. If you have a problem with the traffic, get a hotel close to the stadium and have a taxi take you right to the entrance, just like I am doing for Coldplay....problem solved.
  22. I was there too Matt, July 1975 at The Cow Palace. In my top 5 concerts of all time. My Minolta SRT 101 with 135 MM lens served me well......of course with "Kodak Ektachrome" film...those were the days huh?
  23. Jesus, wish I could help you, but not living in Pattaya, I am useless LOL! 250 baht for an Oil Massage is a very good price, all the ones here locally are 400 baht.
  24. Eric Clapton you say? July 1974 at The Cow Palace in Daly City ( right next to SFO) Here is one for you, for years prior to seeing him in 1974, I could have sworn his "solo" on this tune was played with a "Rickenbacker" man I was "thrashed" by friends who said EC would NEVER play a Rickenbacker! Go to 3:34 of this video and tell me that this particular sound, at least for me, sounded like a Rickenbacker. Ok, Ok, I was wrong! Talk about some diehards..
  25. Well Cliff, as you know, we all have a budget we have to follow these days right? Since I do not know, 5k seemed a bit high for me too, 3k would have been more in line with what I would have paid. But at the end of the day, if you want to do it ( which I would like to) 5k may be worth it right? I have been " chastised" from recent e-mails from friends for paying the amount of money I am paying to see "Coldplay" and for what I am paying to stay at "The Venetian" in Macau......who cares? I am 67, not 27, if not now, then when? Matter of perspective for me these days. No charge to any of you for my "words of wisdom"
