  1. I was thinking of the Jackass movies.
  2. Would have been better if he had ended up sitting in the chair.
  3. FlightRadar24 says the aircraft flew from Sydney to LAX on 6th December. Looks like it spent 2-3 days in the US not flying before going from LAX to Melbourne.
  4. Tool Found At LAX In Qantas Airbus A380 Engine After 1 Month Missing BYRYTIS BERESNEVIČIUS PUBLISHED FEB 26, 2024 Australian investigators have disclosed that mechanics found a tool inside a Qantas Airbus A380 engine after it has been missing for a month at LAX. The ATSB is investigating a FOD event on Qantas A380, with a tool found inside the engine in February 2024. The tool was found while the aircraft was undergoing routine maintenance at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX). The tool had been missing since December 2023. The Australian Transport Safety Bureau (ATSB) has disclosed that it was investigating a foreign object debris (FOD) event that involved a Qantas Airbus A380, which landed at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) on February 2, 2024. Missing tool According to the investigators, the event happened during a maintenance inspection at LAX when the Airbus A380, registered as VH-OQI, landed from Sydney Airport (SYD). The ATSB detailed that a compressor turning tool was found behind the fan blades of the number 1 engine, which is the first engine mounted on the left-side wing. The Bureau said that the tool had been missing since December 6, 2023. However, the ATSB will release a final report when it concludes its investigation into the matter, adding that if a critical safety issue should appear during the process, it will notify all relevant parties. https://simpleflying.com/atsb-qantas-a380-missing-tool-engine-lax/

Just in case anyone was wondering.
  6. Do I see a market for a hip flask designed to look like a mobile phone?
  7. I pay about 190 baht for 200x100mg allopurinol tabs if that makes you feel any better. Remember, allopurinol is a long term preventative measure not a "my hand hurts, I'll take a tablet" headache type treatment. For foot gout, in Oz the recommended daily dose is 300mg. But one should work up to that. 100mg per day for the first month, 200mg per day for the second month then 300mg per day. Too large a dose initially can actually promote a flare. Good luck.
  8. ^^^ Not until I know where the hot dog sausage is.
  9. Trigger finger (stenosing tenosynovitis) is related to the tendons, gout is related to the joints so not the same. https://orthoinfo.aaos.org/en/diseases--conditions/trigger-finger/ I have a trigger finger, if I make a fist and then relax my hand it can sometimes look like this. One finger remains curled up. (My hand is cleaner and I trim my nails). I can straighten it by pushing my fingers out/up like a Thai dancer. It doesn't hurt.
  10. Just saw this Delhi plane spotting channel on YouTube. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1sLX0UnJmt0 They stopped streaming just after I took the screen grab so it's now a recording. Conditions look even better at the beginning of the vid.
  11. ^^^ This might also interest you.
  12. “I looked at this person and I said: ‘You can eff off. I’m going to work towards a tennis ball,’” she recalled, apparently referring to the practice of acting against a tennis ball in scenes that will later have computer graphics added. https://au.news.yahoo.com/rebecca-ferguson-slams-idiot-celeb-235430881.html?guccounter=1 Yesterday, Shazam! Fury of the Gods director David F. Sandberg tweeted a fun behind the scenes image from his upcoming film. It was of a unicorn-like stuffy head, complete with a tennis ball covering the pointy end of the unicorn’s horn. While it may have been placed there for (obvious) safety reasons, tennis balls are actually quite a common sight on film sets, often for more than just protecting actor and crew members from sharp pieces of kit. Tennis balls regularly serve as ‘stand-ins’ for the eyelines of creatures of characters which might be added in later in CG by a visual effects studio. Plus, tennis balls have, over the years, played an important role in acting as tracking markers around interior and exterior sets. https://beforesandafters.com/2023/03/04/meet-the-true-unsung-hero-of-visual-effects-the-tennis-ball/#:~:text=Tennis balls regularly serve as,around interior and exterior sets. Now I learnt something today as well.
  13. The question still remains. Why was the panther on its way to Phanoen Thung?
  14. ^^^ China announced that they are developing their own version of the Patriot missile system. They have the transporter. Now for the control unit.
  15. Not bad but I do like lightening bolts.
  16. ^^^ I would have preferred one of those lightening bolts he allegedly hurls from on high. Or a Storm Shadow.
  17. Do you have HRV? What is HRV? Can you get HRV with a side of fries? Heart rate variability. In simple terms, if you heart beats with the precision of a Swiss watch say one beat every 1000ms (1 second) then you would have a heart rate (HR) of 60 BPM but no HRV. If, on the other hand, the interval between beats was slightly erratic say 950ms, 1050ms, 900ms, 1100ms then you would also have a HR of 60 BPM but with HRV. If there is no underlying disease or cause then a high HRV is good. HRV can be considered an indication of overall fitness. HRV reduces naturally with age. Over training can reduce HRV. There is an app, ithlete - https://www.myithlete.com/, that some people use to plan their training days. In my younger days I used it all the time. For some reason I always found it necessary to restrict myself to a light workout due to a low HRV, well I thought it was low. Polar HR monitors calculate a thing called fitness based on HRV. HRV is measured when you are at rest. Polar, for example, suggest you wear your chest strap and device when you sleep to get the best reading. Any device/app combination that communicate over BLE (Bluetooth Low Energy) should be able to calculate HRV because the protocol for BLE HRMs requires they supply the heart rate interval in binary milliseconds (1024ths of a second).Devices which use photoplethysmography are not considered as accurate as those which detect the heart beat electrically. e.g. chest strap. Why did I make this post. Wel I thought it might be of interest and then @Yessongs posted a photo of his oximeter and I remembered the oximeter I got during the pandemic also displayed HRV. This one It is unbranded but the model is YWK-J1 and available from a number of sellers on Aliexpress so shop around if interested. The app is called Oximeter-H. PI stands for perfusion index. There's plenty of information on the internet about HRV so do your own research. And yes, photoplethysmography is a real word. Photoplethysmography (PPG) is a simple optical technique used to detect volumetric changes in blood in peripheral circulation. It's the little green LED that flashed on the underside of wrist fitness devices etc.
