Cricket writer Jack Mendel described the plan as 'utterly, utterly nonsensical semantic bollocks', while another writer, Glenn Moore, said it would ultimately detract from the game. “As a lifelong cricketer I think the idea of calling wickets ‘outs’ is patronising and dumb. But does it make cricket more accessible?" he queried. “If so, should tennis do away with 15-15, love, deuce and all that sets and games nonsense Should golf dump birdies and bogies? “My personal view is no. The lexicon of a sport is part of what it makes it distinctive, part, even, of its attraction. The more you learn the more you become an insider, it is like a rewards system. And what next Over - a series of 6 consecutive balls bowled (thrown, tossed, chuck, pitched) provided there are no illegal deliveries (???) by the bowler (thrower, tosser, chucker, pitcher). Or worse still - a hexball.
  5. You're really trying to jinx this aren't you. Do not get a haircut on a Wednesday Most hairdressers are closed on a Wednesday and not just for no good reason. Thais believe it is not only bad luck to have your haircut on a Wednesday but that it is also an auspicious day. Best day to get a haircut in Thailand The old belief that you shouldn’t cut your hair on a Wednesday does mean that some barber shops in Thailand are closed for the day. However, trendier hair salons and beauty shops will normally be open, especially in shopping malls and in cities. With a new generation of Thais challenging some of the old traditions and beliefs, you can normally find somewhere open if you are desperate for a haircut on a Wednesday. But if you don’t want to tempt fate, there are other more auspicious days to go for a trim: Monday – cutting your hair on a Monday is meant to bring you long life. Tuesday – brings you power. Wednesday – bad luck; don’t do it! Thursday – you’ll be protected by guardian angels. Friday – you’ll never want for anything. Saturday – a good day for a haircut if you are looking for admiration. Sunday – a short back and sides on a Sunday will bring you long life. Acknowledgements: Denis Segaller (Thai Ways)

If it ain't broke then don't fuk around with it or it will be. ‘This is s***’: Backlash over plan to change cricket wickets to ‘outs’ England cricket officials are scrapping the term wickets in an attempt to get more fans through the gates — and it’s not gone down well. https://www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2021/04/12/not-cricket-wickets-renamed-outs-hundred/?utm_content=cricket&utm_medium=Social&utm_campaign=Echobox&utm_source=Twitter#Echobox=1618242262
  7. Not quite... 'Reality check' ahead as WHO warns against virus complacency The World Health Organisation has issued a warning against coronavirus "complacency" as a number of countries record a worrying spike in cases. Representatives from the WHO pointed out that after cases and deaths declined at the beginning of the year, the global situation had worsened dramatically in recent weeks. “We are in a critical point of the pandemic right now,” Maria Van Kerkhove, the WHO’s technical lead on COVID-19, told reporters. "The trajectory of this pandemic is growing. It is growing exponentially."
  8. Geez, you were busy... BBC receives 100,000 complaints about Prince Philip’s death The BBC has been flooded with over 100,000 complaints about the wall to wall coverage of Prince Philip’s death, The Sun revealed. The UK’s national broadcaster tore up its usual schedule after news of the Duke of Edinburgh’s death broke shortly after noon on Friday. Over the next 24 hours, the BBC’s television and radio channels laid on a string of special programs chronicling Philip’s life. But many viewers were left fuming after their favourite shows – including the MasterChef final – were ditched so special tribute programs could be laid on. But you're right and next Saturday will just give them a chance to do it all over again.
  9. I also run the latest version of Nord on Windows but there the similarity ends. I'm using W7, wired Ethernet connection and I don't run Nord all the time, just start it when I need a VPN shut it down when I'm finished. However. I do run a W10 x64 box on WiFi although without Nord. It's the file server for my security cameras. Cameras upload any alarm videos plus still shots every 30 seconds. This box runs 24x7 except for hot fix Wednesday when it applies any MS hot fixes and the invariable reboot. And invariably, on the reboot, it can have trouble connecting to WiFi or picks the wrong WiFi network (I run several WiFi networks, doesn't everybody). I don't know much about Nord, never had any reason to dive under the hood, but I do suspect it requires your PC (or other device) to have a valid internet connection before it can start. I'd make sure that your PC is connecting to WiFi correctly when coming out of hibernation. Disable Nord or uninstall if necessary. You can always download and re-install again later. I've only had to contact Nord support once, when I changed email addresses. Took about 3 days. Main part was establishing my identity, they wanted method of payment, receipt number etc of original subscription before they would "talk" to me. Might be an idea to supply that info first off if you think it necessary to contact Nord. Good luck.
  10. More like what happens when people watch Jake the Asshole on YouTube and they think this is what is happening in the real world.
  11. Some people think the UK is.
  12. The last Western Australian police officer murdered while on duty was in 1979 yet we still have our share of heavy handed arrogant officers. Your theory lacks substance.
  13. Well Easter has been and gone so I suppose the Christmas goods are now appearing in stores.
  14. Yep, just watching my local news. First 20 minutes about the Duke including a plug for a special on the Royals after the news. Looks like a night of watching cat videos on YouTube while waiting for the FujiWhara.
  15. In the movie Hawaii (1966), didn't the tribal elders get to fuk all the young chick before their skulls were smashed in with rocks and they were thrown into the sea off a cliff? How about old farts get to fuk all the young chicks and then see if the 'rona gets them.
  16. Sound like Sinovac as their approved age bracket in other countries is 18-59.
  17. Does this count as yodeling? Is whistling and humming ok?
  18. Only too happy to oblige... The goats are an added bonus, you're welcome.
  19. Depends if you're a glass half full or glass half empty sort of person.
  20. In Australia we prefer a slightly larger canvas.
