  1. I remember that tree from about 5 years ago when I used to walk up Soi 10 to get to Benjakitti park for a bit of exercise when in Bangkok.
  2. So who are we going Lean On now that the Sunshine has Gone in these troubled times?
  3. If your a library member you can borrow ebooks through them for free. It is what I am doing now. Not a complete selection but enough to go on with
  4. Big Easy Rawlins and Mouse fan to.
  5. I had just started to reread all the Bernie Gunther series and then all the libraries closed because of the Pangolins curse. Curses.
  6. Didn't think much of Koh Chang. Been once, in no hurry to go again.
  7. I was intending to take three trips overseas the rest of this year. My USA trip in April is cancelled. My Thai trip in July won't go ahead. At this stage l still intend taking a trip in Oct/Nov to Thailand, Vietnam, and Myanmar, but I won't be in any hurry to book any flights.
  8. I laughed out loud when I read that article. If that Clown seriously thinks the Chinese Government, after all the effort to control it in their own country, will let there citizens travel to other countries who don't have it under control and then bring it back to China. Then he is an even bigger idiot than the rest of clowns who make up the circus that runs Thailand.
  9. The concern about getting stranded overseas is a real one. Also many countries, Australia included, is imposing a 14 day compulsory self isolation for anybody arriving from overseas. It makes a quick two week trip away just not seem a very attractive prospect.
  10. I am going to go out on a limb and say that they will be finished by the time the rains come in May. If they do.
  11. I wonder when they started this if they took into account the damage it would do to the beach path. Perhaps it wasn't anticipated and therefore no plan has been put in place to repair it. No budget either. Maybe we will have to wait awhile for this to be done. I'm sure there are a few powerful people who will be happy to take this on at the right price, perhaps contract it out to a relative.?
  12. Considering Pattaya is in danger of running out of water by the end of April, read the excellent Shrinking Pattaya Reservoirs thread, this is a great decision, virus or not.
  13. Noticed Iron club was closed on Monday night. Asked a girl in the bar about it and she said that it had been closed for 2 months? It was open 2 weeks ago, l don't think I can use her as a trusted source. It appears just closdd for renovations.
  14. As an addendum to my walk.l recall back in October a news article about the electrical transformer boxes down near the pumping station needing to be moved before the construction could be completed. Well here we are 4 months on and not much seems to have been done.
  15. I think we can agree that this won't be completed by tomorrow. Perhaps by Songkran. Certainly before my next trip in July.
  16. As you can see, they pipes are in the ground but the road, guttering and path a long way from finishing, in fact as one of the photo's show they are still digging up more road. The last photos show the digging up and crushing of the road up to Soi 3.
  17. As you can see, there are 3 big holes outside Big Mike which need filling, (although there are always big holes outside there which need filling but I don't think we can blame the construction for that.) And after that it becomes varied in how far they have got to go. The next group are from Soi 7 to Soi 6.
  18. As you can see, the road and grating is complete, guttering coming along slowly, beach path no action. The next group are from Big Mike to Soi 7.
  19. Took my tablet on the morning walk today for an update. The first group of pictures is from Soi 13/4 heading North.
  20. Just returned from my morning walk.0800 to 0900 . So much more pleasant without the Chinese clogging the place up. Only counted 4 parasails. To early for the Indians to be up and about. My friend lives in North Pattaya near a 400 room hotel catering for Chinese tour groups. No buses, no customers, will probably have to close until this is over. Shouldn't really affect the bars as mostly the Chinese don't frequent the bars that many BMs do
