  1. My mum's birthday, she is 85 today πŸŽ‚
  2. This is all over FB. My girl is 20, her friends and shed load of the younger family members have been sharing pics all day. Mrs smiler and her generation don't seem to be arsed.... These protesters are brave IMHO, wonder if they will make a difference??
  3. Yep that's at the bottom end of the range of figures I have seen. In my mind I will budget for around Β£4k. Last week I committed to a contract at work till the end of August, so will make a decision mid month. Impossible for me to second guess what the situation will be but it's entirely fesable this will be the new normal in terms of pricing for the foreseeable future.....
  4. I could get a repatriation flight, it's at least an option but it would be arseache Really not so sure about the quarantine as yet, then there's the tests over here, COE etc and the cost of the actual flight. Takes around about a month for the process going on the experience of those who have been successful.
  5. Man said "as soon as it is ready".
  6. My 6 month METV ran out at the end of May. In hindsight it was a waste of money but shit happens. Got to be frustrating for others who have long term visas expiring (or expired) who are locked out of Thailand, especially if they are on extensions because they will need to start the whole process again. Good news for those in Thailand I guess 😁
  7. I wouldn't be at all surprised if they keep the borders locked till at least the end of September so I guess the amnesty could be extended till then ..... Can't help but think that Thai Imm will be looking to make a few baht where they can, and why not? Wonder how much income they have lost since April.
  8. True story A Norwegian guy on 3 days overstay gets stopped on his way from Korat to Swampy, he was in a taxi and it was just a regular bib roadside check. At this stage it's fair to say the guy is a gobshite at the best of times, I am guessing his attitude would have been combative.... Bottom line is he spent 48 hours in the immigration holding tank somewhere in Bangkok (it wasn't Swampy), had to pay for a new flight home and said he paid a 50k fine. That was in March 2018 and he hasn't been back to Thailand since. Sure it's easy and not that expensive to pay for overstay at the airport but shit happens.
  9. Have you read the thread title? I am unsure if you have noticed it relates to exchange rates on the street. Thanks to the BMs who regularly update this thread πŸ‘
  10. I am hoping there will be further easing of restrictions early July, rumour is an announcement will be made soon(ish). Still think August at the earliest but most likely September πŸ˜’
  11. Obviously all is well now but when I tried to access the board this morning apparently I was banned πŸ˜• Not sure if it's an issue with my phone or what but I ran a quick virus scan and rebooted and here we are.
  12. Nice glass of mulled wine (Sainsbury's). Yeah yeah I know it's not the season but it's going down an absolute treat and I am just about to get some more on the go.
  13. I know a few guys who worked for Airwork in Oman - BIg Rich, Pete, Mark, Niel etc
  14. Trying to get my head around doing a night shift tonight. First one for about 9 months (after I said I would stop working them πŸ™„).
  15. I am not so bad with the heat but like just about everyone the humidity I find uncomfortable. Over the years I have found the best way for me to deal with it is not to try and fight it. Slow down, get acclimatised, use fans during the day etc.
  16. Absolutely 😁 But they're not in power so it's pointless. As is going down the "what aboutary" or leavers v remoaners, right v looney left roads. We have the governments who we voted for and IMHO we should hold them to account when they f**k up. It's a fundamental right in a free society.
  17. The guy who resigned was an MP. Edit, sorry is an MP still, he resigned from the cabinet.
  18. If only there were more MPs who believed in honour and integrity. Quote from BBC Mr Ross, who remains Conservative MP for Moray, said: "While the intentions may have been well meaning, the reaction to this news shows that Mr Cummings' interpretation of the government advice was not shared by the vast majority of people who have done as the government asked. "I have constituents who didn't get to say goodbye to loved ones; families who could not mourn together; people who didn't visit sick relatives because they followed the guidance of the government. "I cannot in good faith tell them they were all wrong and one senior adviser to the government was right." If DC would of held up his hands and said I f***d up to protect my family, I am sorry, here is my resignation. He just might of earned a bit of respect and would more than likely be back playing Rod Hull to bojo's emu within a couple of months. Instead of that we have had 4 days of bollocks when there really are way more important things to focus on.
  19. Getting ready to move the barge I am looking after. Been moored up for the last 3 months so it needs water and the shit tank cleaning. Quite excited TBH πŸ˜†
