It was not just for me, but also for my lad, as he’s gotta pay it back every week from his pocket money. ☹️

Setting up the new all in one pc, as son accidentally knocked the other one on the floor and broke the screen. Only had it for a few months and paid around £700 so not worth claiming on insurance. Looked to get new screen but every repair shop says it costs as much to fix if they can get a screen, as it costs to buy new one. Bugger. 😭

It’s been a while since going to the Hilton, but I found it to be nothing special, especially the food, but the Centara was a lot better. Obviously things change over the years, so a more up to date review is required. A friend and I did reviews of 12 restaurants in Hua Hin for the Tatler many years ago and the Hilton Hotel wasn’t one of them. 😉 The wife insisted on always going to the Centara for Loy Krathong (despite us living right on the beach) so she could float her Krathong and have dinner there afterwards. 🤗

Used to be called The Railway Hotel originally.

I got on a plane in Hobart and sat next to a woman and her little son. We got chatting and she said she was from Cork. l said your accent doesn’t sound Irish and she said she was originally from Cumbria, to which I said my sister lives there. She asked me which town and I said Grange, she said that’s where I’m from. She asked me my sisters name and I only gave her the first name, she then said “not Pauline ******** , I said yes, that’s her. She then proceeded to tell me that she and her son had stayed at my sisters house the night before flying to Hobart to see her mother, as they had been friends for many years before moving to Cork.

Nah, not without the snorkel surely. 😉

I think that’s how gliders work in the UK as well, using thermals etc mate. 👍 Just that I’ve never heard them called sailplanes before. Always fancied a flight in one when younger, as there’s a glider club a couple of miles away from me, but not so sure I’d have one now. 🤣

I must be getting old😟 It took me a while to figure out that what you Americans call a sailplane, we call a glider in the UK. 😉

I remember many years ago watching a programme on tv about reducing forest fires in Canadian forests. They dropped small capsules approximately the size of a shotgun cartridge, that on contact with the ground, burst into flames and set alight the leaves and brush that was on the ground. The idea being that by keeping the amount of leaf litter etc on the ground to small amounts by burning them, it reduced the ability of fires spreading out of control. Admittedly it was 20 years ago mate. Standards may well have fallen since then. 😉
