  1. I had noticed this club had opened a few weeks ago and your post reminded me to have a look see as I'm on the lookout for a GC to host a party next month for about 25-30 hashers. Sorry to say they're a prime example of how not to attract a potential customer. I pulled up on my motorbike about an hour ago and they had about six or so lady's sitting out front. Every one of them gave me about a two second glance and then immediately went back to looking at their phones. The Thai doorman asked as I was backing out "where I go" and told him loudly enough so all the ladies could hear me I was going someplace where the ladies were more interested in customers than their phones. It is what is and thankfully plenty of other venues to choose from for my business.
  2. Secrets and its forum played a big part in how I ended up living in Thailand. Like many, because of the forum, Secrets was at the top of the list of bars to visit on my first trip to Thailand back in 2008. I visited Secrets on my first day and while I didn't BF that visit, I was back the next evening to BF the lady I had met on that first visit. The rest as they say is history and after another holiday in Thailand BF'ing the same lady for the entirety of that visit, ended up moving to Thailand to live with her in her village in May 2009. Like many BG relationships, that one didn't last, nor did Secrets, but I'm still here and quite happy with that fateful decision to move here.
  3. I would hazard a guess those that posted “get a life, no big deal, you don’t know their circumstances” are also those that think laws are only suggestions. Perhaps they have a bit of Thai blood in them. BTW, I would have done the same, posted the picture in the group if I thought it might bring about change.
  4. The 45 day VOA won't come into effect until October 1st, so not available to the OP who posted he's planning his trip for late September. It's also not official until published in the Royal Gazette.
  5. Same here. First trip was Nov 2008. I've done a few trips around SEA from DMK and that has made me appreciate how convenient BKK is to Pattaya. Never used Bell service though. After 28+ hours of travel it was worth paying the extra coin to have a private car zip me to sin city. Another memory from my first trip is the disappointment of leaving a week before the protests shut down the airport. Had my trip dates been just a bit different I could have been stuck in Thailand for an extended holiday, and with the Thai govt partially funding the extended holiday to boot.
  6. I do enjoy British humour (note I'm ignoring Chrome's spell check demand to correct the spelling of humour).
  7. Thought this might have been photoshopped, but no, it's a successful midwestern US gas station chain. Like how their social media guy puts up an occasional double entendre post. https://www.facebook.com/kumandgo/ They also get the usual replies from those with no sense of humor.
  8. Tues/Fri market, south end of Buakhao. About a month or two ago they prettied the place up by adding a bunch of painted tires along the perimeter of the access road.
  9. Well the sun never materialized in full force so humidity levels remained at high rather than unbearable levels. My early warning system (my adopted soi dog that is scared of thunderboomers and hears the low freq rumble before I do and barks) is telling me there are thunderboomers in the area. Whether they make it to central Pattaya remains to be seen.
  10. You should be good to go now. Line of thunderstorms has passed and the sun is coming out. Better get your walk in quick though. With all that moisture on the ground and the sun coming out it's going to make the humidity levels unbearable in an hour or two.
  11. Read on another forum Warehouse had a soft opening yesterday. What was interesting in the post is any customers wearing open toed footwear were being refused entry. I'll hazard a guess all that will do is keep the looky-loos out. I expect customers into the nightclub scene, after spending an inconsiderable amount of time in front of a mirror primping before going out, would never be caught dead in sandals anyway.
  12. I can save you 20B. We buy boxes of Strong-K for the hash runs @ 80B for 25 sachets. The supplier is a pharmacy on Soi Khao Noi (link).
  13. By the law of averages, the more people using satnav the more news reports we're bound to hear where the excuse for driving into a lake or canal is, "Not my fault, I was just following where my GPS told me to go".
  14. Excellent vid of the behind scenes filming of Thirteen Lives.
  15. Good idea for a photo project, so dodged the rain drops this morning and did a photo survey. I counted seven, plus one too green to smoke. Last one on Buakhao. Bit green to be rolling into a joint.
  16. My poor bike wasn't under cover, but I did find shelter in a massage shop for an hour.
  17. My side of town a bit heavier than light rain. Looks like it'll won't last long, so only a slight delay in the start of morning bike ride.
  18. Understand there are side effects of taking too much vitamin C. In addition your body can't process all that C, so you're literally pissing away good money. https://www.houstonmethodist.org/blog/articles/2020/apr/does-getting-more-vitamin-c-really-keep-you-from-getting-sick/ In addition, vitamin C is water-soluble, making it hard for your body to store it — with excess being secreted in your urine. So even if you're adult and can handle the 1,000 mg in each vitamin C packet or pill, just know that your body can't absorb (or, therefore, use) more than about 400 mg. This means that most of the vitamin C in that supplement you're taking just goes down your toilet (literally).
  19. You need to give it a longer try to realize the benefits. It wasn't until about four weeks after I started on glucosamine I realized my shoulder no longer hurt raising my elbow above the shoulder.
  20. Another good source for subtitles... https://yts-subs.com/
  21. I used to take a daily multivitamin, but stopped after reading enough reports that stated if you have a well balance diet you get all the vitamins you need from the food you eat. Now the only supplement I take is 1500mg of glucosamine with MSM to help alleviate the soreness in a bad shoulder. Even that I was skeptical about, but after a month of taking the supplement there was a noticeable decrease in the chronic pain.
