  1. What parent in their right mind would give their child a sweet dipped in liquid nitrogen. Parents warned about Dragon's Breath sweet The treat known as Dragon's Breath, a liquid nitrogen-based sweet, should be treated with caution as it can potentially cause frostbite, Thailand's Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has warned. The warning was issued after a case of a toddler injuring herself while consuming the sweet was shared on the popular Facebook fan page Drama-Addict on Friday. The young girl's parents posted a photo of their daughter with bleeding mouth sores. They claimed the sores appeared the day after the sweet was eaten. Dragon's Breath gets its name from the main ingredient, liquid nitrogen, which causes a cloud of smoke to pass through the eater's nose and mouth. ...
  2. TMZ on the 27th... TMZ walks back report Jerry Lee Lewis died
  3. It doesn't help that it gets dark much earlier in the northern latitudes. Decades ago when I was a much younger lad I traveled to Sweden to hook up with a female pen pal. What was interesting to see while there was almost all the children and quite a few adults wore reflectors dangling from their coats. Really worked well to warn cars they were coming up on a pedestrian. And the pen pal. Had a great time, so much so my cousin asked for her contact details and visited her the next summer on a backpacking trip across Europe. Apparently they hit it off better than I did as he moved to Sweden the next year and married her. Didn't get so much as a thank you card.
  4. That's the "special" at Triangle and Billabong. They advertise it as 2 for 1, but the reality is at their special pricing, compared to what a single beer is going for in other bars nearby, you're buying one beer for the price of two.
  5. Happens everyday at Triangle and Billabong.
  6. Investigation Launched After Airbus A320 is Badly Damaged When it Flew Through Storm in South America Terrifying footage has emerged from onboard an Airbus A320 aircraft operated by the South American airline LATAM as it flew a severe electrical storm which severely damaged the aircraft’s radome and shattered the cockpit windows. LATAM flight LA1325 departed Santiago de Chile at around 4 pm on Wednesday afternoon bound for Asuncion but was forced to divert to Foz do Iguaçu International Airport in Brazil due to stormy conditions in the area. Chile’s General Directorate of Civil Aeronautics says it has launched an investigation into the incident after the 10-year-old aircraft landed without one of its two engines working. The flight was operated by LATAM Airlines Paraguay and in a statement, the airline said that all passengers and crew were unharmed after the aircraft made an emergency landing. A spokesperson for the airline said it “regrets the inconvenience that this weather situation may have caused passengers”.
  7. Light rain on a road with even a small accumulation of oil in the center of the lane makes for a dangerous encounter for those on two wheels. Not really the van stopped in the opposite lane's fault.
  8. Probably because shade trees are slow growing and require careful maintenance in the early years after being transplanted. Key word here is "maintenance", which from what I've seen doesn't have an equivalent word in Thai.
  9. That looks like a footing for new curbs, which you can see haphazardly piled to the left and stacked in the background. That begs the question why they're putting in curbs next to the existing road as the news reports said they were adding an additional lane on the north end of Beach Rd?
  10. Are those no swimming red flags due to rip currents? If they are, why are there people in the water? And if were no dangerous currents at the time, why are the flags still out which can lead to people ignoring them when there's a real danger.
  11. Latest news is the road is still impassable, except for a few intrepid souls that are risking a trip on the undamaged side of the road. Phuket highway repair to cost B5m
  12. Went on a shark encounter dive many years ago in the Bahamas. Very similar to what's in this video. Freaky to have the sharks swimming in and out of the circle between us. We heeded the warning to keep our hands and arms tucked in close to our chest.
  13. Then do tell what caused the excess deaths during the pandemic timeframe? While you're at explain to the families of the 2,977 victims that died on 9/11 it's just a "story" and they should just forget about it.
  14. Wonder why the airport designers thought it would be a good idea to dig a drainage ditch in the runway overshoot area. Pilots probably also had an "oh fck" moment when they saw the approach light banks getting scooped up by the nose and passing over the cockpit area.
  15. I'm happy to report no spokes were broke on the ride out to take this pic.
  16. I think e-bikes are great. Seeing more and more of them on the road. If you have knee and/or hip problems they're also great PT for range of motion exercise. With the variable pedal assist you can dial in as much or as little assistance as you need to reduce the pressure on the joints.
  17. Even my bicycle is complaining I'm uaan. Just replaced a broken spoke on the rear wheel. No doubt the extra 10kg factored into it giving out.
  18. North end of WS, the new pavers are getting a colorful paint job. Wonder if they'll bury the utility lines before something starts them on fire. Spotted the culprit of the Soi 15 fire hiding out on 2nd Rd. Wonder if it has a new driver.
  19. Managed to stumble upon another bar with crazy drink prices. Latest is Candy Club next to Tree Town. Beer prices at 90B are inline with what other bars in the area with live music are charging. Where I got stung was on my drink of choice, SangSom soda. I thought Boss Corner Bar was steep at 65B, but Candy Club has taken it to a whole new level with a charge of 120B. Couldn't believe it when I looked at the receipt. Called the service lady over to ask if it was one of those pay for 2 upfront "deals", but no that's the price for one. Told her she should pass on to her boss the price was just crazy and not to expect many customers, including me to return if they stick to that price.
