  1. I haven’t yet seen a BYD in the wild in the UK, but they’re here and more are coming. He’s right, Chinese EV’s are gonna sure shake up the EV market and that means trouble for the big legacy manufacturers across Europe.
  2. Well he certainly seems to have got the wonga to pay your rates. 😉
  3. I was given the Zostavax 🤬 Wonder why they didn’t offer Shingrix? Penny pinching I suppose. 🥴
  4. The wife had a version of that to put chocolate etc toppings on her cakes and cheesecakes. 👌
  5. I’m sure I’ve been dragged into that and other gold jewellery shops in BKK by the wife over the first years of marriage, but it wasn’t for her, but for me, as she insisted I have a bright, shiny, gold wedding ring. She, of course, has a diamond ring, chosen not by me or us, but by her and her mother and she also paid for it. 🤗 Eventually I did get one, but lost it years later. ☹️ Years later she told me the real reason she wanted me to wear a bright gold wedding ring, was so that on my visits too Bintabaht bars, the girls would know I’m married and to leave me alone. To which I replied “how could the pretty girls keep their hands of such a handsome man”? A gold ring isn’t going to stop them. The whack around my head that followed, really hurt. ☹️ But she smiled as she did it, so that’s alright then. 🤣
  6. Welcome @thommym4712 enjoy yourself on the forum. Plenty of useful information here for you. 🤗
  7. Had mine at 70 in a local community centre. Got there at 6pm the allocated time and the place was heaving, must have been 250+ there so went home and came back at 8.30pm closing time and was the only person there, so walked in and was done in 1 min. 🤗
  8. Devon and Cornwall Councils were going to have a joint music festival with classic 70s and 80s bands.....but it had to be cancelled.... They couldn't decide if The Jam or Cream should go on first.
  9. As I thought, no McD employees can count on their fingers. Apparently this “computer glitch” has affected half or more of Mac D’s across the World. 🤣🤣🤣
  10. We went to Home Pro (I think it was as the staff all wore the orange gear) in Rangsit in 1998 to buy stuff for place in Hua Hin. I was pushing one of those huge 3 mtr long carts and pulling stuff that the wife pointed at, off of racks and loading up the cart. As we moved through the store and loaded more items on the cart, we gathered more and more orange clad feck wit staff behind us. None bothered to ask us if they could help us, just followed us ffs! I counted 9 🤡 at one point. Wifey did ask several staff members about various items, but they just looked at her with that stupid look on their faces. I particularly remember seeing a thick green glass Italian wash basin on sale at 7K and we wanted 2, but the wife couldn’t get any of them to understand the 2 wash basin in the bathroom concept! So she went to the pile of sealed boxes nearby and after finding another one, showed them what a “pair of wash basins” looked like. 😉 After a couple of hours I was glad to get out of there. The only good thing was the big discount that the checkout girl offered us if we joined their card club, which we did.
  11. A friend of mine died at his work yesterday😣 The police are calling it suicide, because he fell into a huge 20,000 gallon barrel of beer, but got out 3 times to take a piss.
  12. Reminds me of looking for fruit and veg that looked vaguely familiar to me in the old Morning Market in Hua Hin back in 1998/9 I looked each morning whilst the wife whipped around getting her Thai food etc, but I was always disappointed. Then finally, one morning, I spotted a small box of potatoes that actually resembled the type of potatoes I was used to back in Blighty, spuds I could actually cut up and deep fry as home cooked chips. My mouth was actually salivating at the thought. I bought the lot and stuffed them in a bag and set off to find the wife to show her the treasure I’d discovered. She wasn’t at all impressed, but I wasn’t downhearted in the least. We jumped in the car and I sped off home, eager to get the spuds peeled and a wok with oil on the go and smell the smell of vinegar on chips again. Imagine my disgust, when the first peeling fell to the table to reveal that the potatoes I’d bought were fucking bright yellow inside and I instinctively knew they wouldn’t taste like the chips I craved for. Life can be so full of disappointment. 😟😡
  13. There’s no coming back from that. 😉
  14. I’m surprised he didn’t complete his decent in the chair. My teen son spends all day in one and I can’t get him out of it. 😉
  15. Couldn’t be arsed to cook roast on Sunday so took the family to a pub about 15 miles away for a carvery. We booked for the 3rd sitting at 5.30pm and the place was heaving, because I’d forgotten it was Mother’s Day. Typical of me at carvery’s, pile it high and hope it stays on the plate as you make your way back to the table. There’s beef under there somewhere and it was bloody good. 🤗 The son and wife had pork and most of wife’s food ended up in the gullet of my son as she doesn’t eat much, but understands that she can pile it on her plate then give it to the ravenous son. 🤣 2 glasses of Merlot and an apple crumble with ice cream topped it off.
  16. The Swiss guy has pretty much sealed his own fate regarding his visa and he deserves it IMHO. Having the Phuket governor recalled over the issue to save face, is certain to ensure he’s out of the country as soon as the court case for assault is concluded. Trouble is, he’s stirred it up for many other Farang in Phuket and the government has got to be seen to do something about it.
  17. All of the many properties the in-laws have in their portfolio, including the business we started there back in 2018/19 is in the Thai in-laws names and my wife is the only child, so will inherit a very large property portfolio. They would love us to go back now and hand it over to her, as they are getting on in years now, but they understand that their grandsons education is much more important and they also understand just how bad the schools are in Thailand and the reason they sent their daughter to the UK to be educated. They’ve made extremely good provisions for our son as well and have increased that every year since he was born. If we were to go back to live in Thailand, she’d have no need to work (in the real sense) for the rest of their lives, but she’s not yet ready to leave the UK for good. We’ve talked often about going back to live for good when our son finishes his education, so maybe in 8 years that’s what we’ll do. Sell up everything here with the exception of one house just in case our son needs a base in the UK or just a UK address. I’ll be 80 by then and sitting on the porch (of the beautiful house that the in-laws had built for us in Hua Hin) at sundown with a glass of wine in my hand, will suit my lifestyle just fine. I’ll be old enough not to have to mix with the ill mannered Farang by then, in both the UK and Thailand and I’ve come across a few in both countries. 🤣
  18. At 13 did a Sunday morning paper round with papers loaded onto a small cart. 5 shillings for the morning. At 14-16 I was up too my knees in freezing mud helping a guy in the winter, cutting water reeds for 1 shilling a bundle. I could earn £5 on a Saturday and £5 on a Sunday tax free. 🤗 At 16 when I left school, I worked for a jobbing builder 7am-6pm Monday to Friday for £4.10 shillings a week. £2 went to mum, the rest went on wine, women and song. 🤪 Then various other jobs for several years. Finished up the last 15 years working for a multi national conglomerate with a fecking huge salary and able to retire at 47 years of age with a great pension plan. I was attending an open day six months before I retired at one of the several large companies I was responsible for and met an old school teacher of mine who thought I’d end up in a dead end job and wasn’t afraid to tell the whole class that. He was a c**t of the first order. He was extremely surprised that I’d made good, as he’d always said at school I’d come to no good. I took great delight in telling him how much I was paid and just how big my pension would be and that unlike him, I wouldn’t have to work till I was 65, after which I smiled and walked away laughing. Life can be strange. 😉
  19. Just got back from the Muscular Skeletal Clinic where they told me what I already knew. I’m f***d and they can’t do anything about it. 🤣
