  1. I believe it is likely that an overstay of a few days would not be a problem if making it to the airport to pay the fine. I believe it is a major problem though, if you are stopped by the BIB etc., prior to getting to the airport during that overstay period. As per a link below: If you are caught by the authorities while overstaying in Thailand, you will be arrested, detained, and will face strict punishment and probable deportation. Immigration police are known to undertake random checks on foreign nationals in entertainment areas, on the street, and at checkpoints. http://www.belaws.com/thailand/overstaying-your-visa/ Another site offers the following: What Happens If I Am Arrested by Immigration? If you are arrested by immigration for overstaying your visa, the penalty is far worse. It is likely that you will be taken to an immigration detention centre. After this, you will be subject to the following ban: Overstay less than 1-year: 5 year ban from Thailand Overstay more than 1-year: 10 year ban from Thailand
  2. Just came back from a 2 hour walk up the ridge behind my house. Was up there with wife, so it took a little longer than normal. Both of us enjoyed ourselves although Porn doesn't normally do walks, she prefers gym and Zumba class. Enjoyed the views of the Bristol Channel and North Devon. Feel good after having my shower.
  3. Actually thought the attachment on a Booking.Com email was in PDF format when opening. Certainly is on Agoda, I believe, Looked at quite a few Google links for getting an e-visa and it appears most say you just need the first nights accommodation confirmed and uploaded. Of course if you have a longer stay then fine. Glad you got it all sorted. My mate is doing his first one tomorrow after he books his flights, I hope he has no issues.
  4. Wife is in the gym doing Zumba, I am in the Wetherspoon in Neath drinking a pint of JW Lee's 'Game On'. I did though attend the gym for 1.5 hours this morning, there's my excuse.
  5. I have been coming to Pattaya since late 80s, thought I saw it earlier than 2001 but, of course, I am an old bugger so it could have been the date you mentioned. I think most of it is so true, probably should have reread it again before I got married, could have saved a lot money and stress.
  6. For a Surface Pro, Google mentioned having to hold the power button for 30 seconds and not letting go; it actually was about 30 seconds before it booted up. The thing is, it worked and I am happy to be using the system again, my daughter is also happy that I haven't taken back my old laptop permanently.
  7. Another one that Chelsea let go too early.
  8. I was going to write a story about thinking my daughter had dropped my laptop, despite her protestations, as I could not switch my laptop on. There was power to it, but could not switch the damn thing on, just a blank screen. Anyhow, Google is your friend, and it's advice (a few things to do) was to hold the power button on for 30 seconds and maybe it will work. Didn't believe that would work, but low and behold, it did. It is now working, and I have done a troubleshoot of the power settings. I have also done a scan with Total AV and it now appears to be working fine. I usually power it down but I know these things can stay in sleep mode overnight, if using everyday, so next time I won't power down. I feel guilty that I thought my daughter had dropped it so she has been rewarded with an ice cream. She was out of bed before me this morning and sitting by my laptop, so I probably put two and two together, especially as she wasn't convincing when i asked about any accidents. It's my bonus laptop (repurposed from British Airways), so wasn't going to jump up and down too much. Had been using my old laptop for a while, which was quite amusing, took me a moment to get used to where the delete and enter buttons were.
  9. The 45 day visa exempt finished 31 March 2023 I believe. As mentioned above, it's presently the 30 day visa exempt or another visa that offers a longer stay.
  10. When I lived in Hua Hin, I used the Premium Outlet Cha Am for my Reeboks. There were plenty of other shoe companies represented, but I headed for the Reebok Shop, always managed to get a size 11 there. Massive complex of sports wear shops it's out on the 4 road about 3.5 kms north of the Swiss Farm. https://www.outletmallthailand.com/our_branch/2
  11. Just reading about the top 10 turbulent journeys by air as recorded by Turbli: turbli - Turbulence Forecast for your Flight 1. Santiago (SCL) – Santa Cruz (VVI) 2. Almaty (ALA) – Bishkek (FRU) 3. Lanzhou (LHW) – Chengdu (CTU) 4. Centrair (NGO) – Sendai (SDJ) 5. Milan (MXP) – Geneva (GVA) 6. Lanzhou (LHW) – Xianyang (XIY) 7. Osaka (KIX) – Sendai (SDJ) 8. Xianyang (XIY) – Chengdu (CTU) 9. Xianyang (XIY) – Chongqing (CKG) 10. Milan (MXP) – Zurich (ZRH) Milan to Geneva scooped fifth position in the rankings, alongside Milan to Zurich in tenth place. This is because, as Turbli founder Ignacio Gallego Marcos explains, routes over the Andes or Alps ‘appear high in the ranking due to mountain wave turbulence over the Andes and Alps.’ In other words, mountainous regions tend to see greater turbulence. Thought a route I have taken a lot would feature. It's part of the Bangkok London route from just after Baku to the Black sea west of Georgia. I have experienced quite a few occasions where turbulence was noticed, believe it is the Caucasus mountains to the north. I am sure we all have had experiences of turbulence on routes that are not shown in the top 10.
  12. This book should be handed out to all single mongers on arrival into Thailand. Shows the 2013 version but was around when I came here in the 90s, I am sure. Some info says first published in 2013 but I have seen forum comments about this book from 2002 and pretty sure I read it in the early 90s.
  13. Maybe there is something funny about the signage that makes them want to take a photo to show their mates. Edit, may be there is no Thai signage could be an issue unless that is on a street sign only.
  14. I agree that the support is really important but there are some people who will never learn and, even with a support network, they ignore advice and crash and burn badly. Usually a Thai girl is the reason and all support and advice will not resolve the guys destructive one way thought process, usually, as their girl is 'different'.
  15. Had my first gym session today at the Neath Leisure Centre, it's been a while, but I had a great intro. Just a quick 1.5 hours including 40 minutes walking on the treadmill at a steady 6km on a small incline. Heart beat never got above 110. Trainer watched me for a while, as he noted I had had an Aortic Valve Replacement, and was interested in my medications. Ironically, his wife works in the cardiology department, so I had to listen to a couple of stories but he was happy I was having a normal conversation without collapsing on the apparatus. Did some free weights and some fixed weight sets, was really fun. The gym was quite busy with a wide demographic including some pretty fit girls. Loads of stations in all categories, so easy to move around without waiting on anybody. Even got told that I can park in the multi story car park for 3 hours free of charge as long as we clock in to the gym system. That will be worthwhile in poor weather but I like the 20 minute walk into town as part of the exercise. Only one day in, and although I am not a couch potato, it still feels good to be hitting the gym. Porn joined also today, so I will have a partner on occasions although she is also interested in the Zumba and Salsasize classes. That combined with a higher protein ratio to fats and carbs diet should see me move a bit of weight and tone up nicely.
  16. Maybe it's all uphill, it says about 450 calories today
  17. Was just taking my BP when I started reading your post. The BP is indeed a good one, mine is presently 117/75, so I am also happy. Back to the gym tomorrow for the first time in about 18 months. Been doing over 8000 steps a day but felt, after Christmas, that I wanted to tone and lose a bit extra. The gym is a leisure centre, so has a pool as well. Paid the joining fee today and was hoping to start exercise, but I have to do, either a trainer assisted induction (health and safety) or watch some videos online. No trainers available for a few hours so home to watch the videos and return tomorrow.
  18. My Israeli mate tells me the land close to your residence is being readied for a housing estate. That's the word from my mate who says he doesn't think the noise will be welcome and he may move.
  19. Was in Neath yesterday, so popped into the 'Spoon' for my first pub beer of the year. Also used my newly acquired CAMRA (Campaign For Real Ale) vouchers to get 50 pence off of the £2.95 price. I should have paid £2.45 but actually got charged £2.05.... Had just the one pint of Exmoor Beast at 6.6%. For info, my CAMRA membership cost £30.50 and they send you £30 of vouchers in 50p denominations. Can be used in all Wetherspoons, but also many other pub groups. The membership card can also get up to 10% discount where the pub supports CAMRA.
  20. Mine changed after a software update. Luckily, when going into the WEB OS, the HDPrime is shown as an option, so it is a simple case of clicking on the APP and hitting Login as the account/password details screen is already filled in. Love it now.
  21. I have had the TV for 3.5 years and previously, you had to click on the remote to go to the Smart area which houses all these apps. Now though, when I switch on the TV, this app area comes on to the screen first thing and you need to hit the 'return' key to go back to a TV channel. It was then that I noticed all these other areas including free Movie channels with ads etc., and the Web OS partition.
  22. Had one of those, 'I didn't know that before moments' today. I have HDPRIME TV access via my laptop and mobile. I use the app often and have usually used an HDMI connection to my TV or Cast the tab/screen to the TV via a screencast capability. Been doing this for 3.5 years. Most of the time I get a good connection but occasionally (especially with Live Sports) I have had connection issues and occasional buffering. Last night, I was looking to cast the Chelsea v Preston game from my laptop, but noticed that at the bottom of the TV that there was an option for YOUTUBE etc., with WEB OS along the line. Now I have not used the WEB OS app before, as I have a laptop and android, but just suddenly thought, can I sign in to my HDPRIME through the TV. Well, I did sign in, and can I say how damn good the signal is. No buffering, good quality picture and a better size fit for the TV screen. I presume the TV has been connected to my Virgin WIFI, but the quality and streaming is so superior to other connections via HDMI and casting. It is so simple, so bloody good that I am shocked I have never done this before. Many times we have, as a family started watching a casted film only for it to buffer and destroy the viewing, now I am happy I won't need to do that again. Of course this is probably why the TV is called Smart and I am not lol
  23. I didn't even start the video. Maybe if I lived in Pattaya, I might view some of it but these videos and blogs have no interest for me.
  24. Very impressed with the price for such a great view. Looks like a quality room with a great balcony. Was it a full service hotel with other good facilities?. Maybe a little too near Hua Hin for an overnight if traveling further south, but if in Ao Manao for an overnight or two, that looks a great option.
